Metal gave me the money, and told me that Nova said to **** Melee. Just did what I was told.

Hope you're feeling ok Nova, heard the news from the S.A guys.

Of Nova's money:
Singles
1st got 500
2nd got 200
3rd got 100

Doubles
1st got 250
2nd got 100
3rd got 50

Me and a few others asked metal specifically, and he said it was all for brawl, so I don't know what you want to do about it, but we checked.

I asked ad3pt at the end of the night if he had enough for mellee, brawl doubles and singles and thought he said yes.

despite nova saying repeatedly on the forum where the money was meant to go.. and the fact he's never bailed on pot boosting FOR EITHER GAME.. just means you are in the wrong.

If they handed me the money and said "**** brawl" I would have laughed in ther face, walked straight over to you, and handed you $600.

If you were in any doubt (which if you had half a brain you should have been) you should have held onto the money and called nova. Even if it took several days to contact him you could easily bank transfer the money later.

Instead you went the easy route.

Like you always have.

That is a complete lie Metal, and you know it. Anyone else who was there when Metal confirmed that Melee wasn't getting the money please back me up here.

Edit: There was no doubt, the person who gave me the money confirmed it. In prior talks before this tournament, I know personally that Nova didn't want to boost Melee pots before brawl. This is all facts, and I'm disappointed that after all this, I am being put out for this issue.

not only did you take the money

you didn't even mention that you got any in the 1st place to myself or Dif and inform us of the situation

you just kept it quiet

as thief's do

selfish thief's at that

"aww yeah ima just take all this for brawl then, the larger pot will surely make people think the tourney was good"

I was drinking with Jamie until the wee hours of the morning the night before. He's had not much sleep all weekend so if there was a miscommunication somewhere I totally believe it.

Both AD3PT and Jamie had the best intentions for the event and to be saying that something deceptive happened is ridiculous.

If we know where the money went then why can't we just organise to have it redistributed to the winners as Nova intended as other civilised members of competitive communities could do.

Also Zac pointing the finger at Matt for being a bad TO after you neglect Dif and even vomit at the venue is beyond hypocritical.

What you are saying is inverted reality.

Not reading most of this, I'm out tonight.

After finding out that there was no pot boost for melee, I asked metal specifically why there wasn't, and he said that nova said to "screw melee".

I wanted to contact nova, but at the same time, I didn't want to call somebody who had to head back to sa so suddenly and well, ask for more money.

Dif neglecting

derp I looked at it and it didn't need fixing hurrdurrrr back2brawlfag

I'm disappointed Anthony. You should have to come to Dif or myself and told us about the money. You didn't have to call asking for MORE money.. it would have taken 30 seconds to call and say "hey the S.A guys said that you didn't want the money to go into melee?". Nova would have had his rant and everyone would be dancing in the flower fields.

Yes

$600 warrants a phone call...

I was going to post shoutouts actually, but I think I'll wait until this thread stops being so silly.

This is a bit silly, and miscommunication at its finest.

It was me who told ADEPT that we should contribute Nova's pot boost to brawl only, several people were present and can prove this. Perhaps the combination of what I said and a mistake on Metal's behalf is what led to ADEPT to believe that it was certain that Nova had changed is mind after his financial issues not to contribute to Melee at SS.

ADEPT worked his *** off to get this tournament working, and he does not deserve any of this treatment as he is at no fault for this incident.

Will post shoutouts soon!

Zac,

I assumed it was known already. I thought I was the one who wasn't in the loop yet when I asked.

I like Jamie, Adept, everyone, so this is not a personal attack... but I was there and remember Jamie saying NOVA said to not bother with meele, as in boosting the pot. Adept legit asked "are you sure?" and Jamie confirmed, so I don't think Adept is really the one to be blamed but a mis-communication is.

Oh and Zakido, please grow up and stop insulting Adept and acting as if he did nothing throughout the day and that he's incompetent when he's clearly not, lol.

I'll take responsibility for this, as it was Nova who made me responsible for the money for the pots. As it happened, things changed very fast when Nova was feeling ill on the Saturday morning and I had not expected any reliability or responsibility to fall on me for the tournament. As well as the fact that I had a lot of names and new faces to meet.

I agree, there must of been miscommunication, from me being in charge of relaying the message to handing over the money to matt.

I'm sorry Queensland Brawl, but this is it for me. Remove me from the PR, any discussions, and any of my threads need to be closed or given to someone else.

This will be my last shout out and I hope you guys continue to have fun and enjoy the game, because I have loved being a part of the QLD brawl scene and I have loved spending the time with you guys.

To the SA guys: I wish we could move or scenes together. You guys are all awesome and I loved heading out to get dinner and chatting and friendlies, all was great. I could definitely see us forming a massive clan if you guys lived up here, or us down there to get away from the heat :p

Ted: Smartest person to ever play brawl, and a pleasure to watch play. Funny and an overall awesome guy. Nice work on first ;)

Tibs: So fluent it almost disgusts me how bad I am compared to you. I can see why M2K said you were the top player in Aus.

Attila: Really awesome guy in and out of the game. Always really good constructive discussions about the metagame. Wish I got another chance at your Snake before I left Smash, but thats how it works out I suppose.

Jaice: My doubles partner, the player I have learnt more off than any other player, and my brother. If you decide to continue on with Brawl, I know you will make it to top in Aus if you work on it hard enough. I have loved playing with you and against you, and watching you beat the doubters.

MTGod: You are a much better player than I think you give yourself credit for, not to mention you have been one of my favourite people to meet outside of QLD Brawl. A gentlemen and your help on the tourney day definitely didn't go unnoticed. Thankyou so much for all your work, and I would love to get in contact with you on facebook or something for whenever you might be over this way again.

Earl: We have had our differences in opinion, but you are no where near the person behind the keyboard when compared to how you are in real life. Really nice to see you at the tourney, and I hope you know that it was your MK I watched to learn mine.

Ricky: Always a gentlemen, and I can see us being friends away from the scene. It's been great housing you the last few events, and I'm glad you got to try the pizza ;). Had a blast, and definitely catch up if you are up this way in the future.

Blake/Popdart: Your support and help on the day was fantastic. We have plenty of LoL to play. We need a solotop for our ranked team, and I'm looking at you, with or without your dongle :p.

Toki: My first hurdle to overcome when I first got into the scene. Your Marth is what made me stray away from using Luigi, so I hate your for that ( I actually love you, but I know I'm not supposed to tell people). You have been the bright face each and every tournament I have ever been to, and have made me laugh time and time again. Friendlies in future are a must. (And casino)

Jbirds: Was great playing with you again in brawl. Pretty sure we still had it to mix it with the best. Wish you came back to brawl, you left just as I started beating Toki, and you were my next achievement to aim for. Has been good, good bloke.

Apollo: Have and always will be the first out of stater I considered a friend. You are such a great player and a great person. I seriously couldn't shout you enough coffee to show you how much I enjoy your company. Will keep in touch, and holiday up here any time you like, the room upstairs is yours :).

Leish: Always a fun time when your around, shall play plenty of LoL in the future. Hope to see you again in the future along with Ricky to have some awesome times again.

Zydro: Your awesome, and always welcome here. Ness loves having you around to, so get here and play Yugioh as much as you like!

Khoa: Amazing potential to be a top player in smash in Aus. Rare natural talent I haven't seen in a long time. Hope you continue getting better and eventually reach the top of the scene.

Gords: 'I just felt like walking' 'That is the worst possible place you could possibly sit' 'Wario ware' ' Gords'. You are actually a smash icon and you don't even know it. Cool guy and always fun times.

Luke: Get out of my state and back to your bumpkin territory. Funny bloke, always a laugh, easily sunburnt, and great to have around. Your reputation does nothing for how you actually are. Glad we met atleast once.

Jei: Didn't play, but your placing shows you've got what it takes. No MK = Pit 2g.

Pezza: Really suprised I outplaced you, especially given that when I watched you, I could immediately tell your D3 was well above mine for skill. Such a smart player, and sorry about the heat :(.

Dif & Hugh: Near the end I started getting to talk and get to know you guys, and I would have loved to start a Brawl/Melee scene based on you guys. You guys are always an amazing help running events, and don't get the respect you deserve. Keep at it.

Blade & BC: The QLD icons. You guys are getting so good it was starting to scare me to come up against you in brackets. Keep it up and make the top 10, you've definitely got the goods.

Madison & Chris: I hope this whole debarkle doesn't stray you guys away from this scene. The QLD brawl guys are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. One word of advice, enjoy the game, and keep getting better with the QLD guys. You guys will fit in so well, and you will come to love them as much as I have.

Shath & Matty: Some of the best talent to touch a control in QLD. You guys gave 2 of the best QLD players a run for their money in doubles. You have what it takes to be in the top spot here. Get practising and beat them all ;).

Arrow & Cal: I do you guys together because I know I will see you in the future. Funny, smart, awesome guys who have always been a great influence on our scene. Not to mention great players. You guys are part of this scene that are absolutely necessary. Don't change ever :).

Jesmo: My equal for so long when MK was legal lol. You are always welcome in our house, and you and your family are fantastic people. We will see each other in the future I'm sure. A gentleman and a scholar ;).

Bob & Testi: We don't see you guys enough anymore, but you are awesome guys and we always have fun. You guys will be around for games and poker etc in the future I'm sure. See you then for more good times.

Kaion: You are what made me keep coming back to the scene. You enthusiasm and your general love for this scene to do well is a light brighter than no other. You have made it that much easier, through thick and thin to run all my events. You are a great friend and it has been great working with you. We will see each other in the future I'm sure. You will do so well in the future and I wish you the greatest of luck with your career, of which I know you will go far.

Vyse: What more can I say. You are QLD Brawl. You are what gets everyone pumped and ready to play. You make it all possible, and will never ever receive enough praise for your work. Your the greatest thing QLD smash will ever have. When people think of the game in QLD, they will think of you. You have been a mentor beyond mentors to me and deserve every ounce of respect you receive..... Thankyou

I love QLD brawl, and I actually have tears rolling down my face typing this.

Thanks for everything, and to everyone for the effort you have always put in to make it all happen week in and week out. I will always remember everything you guys have done for me and the fun you have given me the passed 3 years.

Keep it up. This is it for me. Keep the game I love alive. Bye.

Haven't read the whole thread yet but wanted to add my piece.

Shaun - you definitely don't have to do anything for me bro, you've already gone over and above on my behalf on several occasions, and it isn't your fault about mismanagement or having to leave early (which sucked, would have been nice to catch up with you).

Moneywise- regardless of what happened with the pot boosters or the way it was handled, I would like everyone to remember that our community is NOT about making $$$. Having a monetary incentive at the end of the rainbow is a nice bonus - but not the sole reason we play smash or make an effort to attend majors. Nova's generosity in recent times has certainly stimulated a lot of interest and I'll admit I myself have travelled to tournaments to that end - a cash prize in itself can be a good thing to attract attendance, but if anything it has acted more as the last incentive I needed to justify taking time out of work/life for smash.

As a side note - I reaiise the situation was 'cloudy' at best regarding the money - but it would have been ideal if the TO's had at least been able to convey where the prizes were being allocated from the beginning of the tournament. I don't know about anyone else, but I entered melee only at this tournament (probably for the first time) to really concentrate my efforts into one game to give myself the best chance at winning. Had I known prizes were Brawl only I definitely would have entered, although I was probably unlikely to crack top 5. I realise that sounds incongruous given my above rant about money being irrelevant, but who wouldn't chase that carrot when it's dangled right in front of you?

Otherwise - please lets not let the money divide us and thanks to antho and Matt for making the best of a bad situation with the whole tournament disruption.

And Shaun - I hope everything is alright with you, heard u had to bail for an emergency.

Wow ok, just sifted throught the thread, **** getting real... Real problem was a lack of communication, not going to point any fingers here, but whatever decisions were made SHOULD HAVE BEEN made clear to everyone.

Ted

Also nova never showed.....
Sam begged me to play winners finals, so I 3-0'd him and then after he beat Ted we just called it and split.
Zac, I love you buddy but Ima let my ego talk for a second. Yes I asked u to play winners, one of us had to play Ted before we could split (which you said you wanted to do before we even played) so we could hardly not play whatsoever, so don't put yo self at number 1. (although technically you were ahead...) Anyway I would like to play a real set with you sometime without us having been awake for 87 hours straight.

Best post in thread lol.

Sam, if you change your mind I'll help you again. I've always said that because I consider you one of the most legit people in this scene. After the huge stuff up, I felt compelled to make it up.

Cheerrrrio
Seriously no need man - as I've said before you've already done way more for me than you ever needed to and I'm really only out fuel money for the trip. Either way I had fun for break-even money so I have no complaints. You're in no way obligated to cover for the mistakes or communication breakdown that occurred.

Not going to say too much for the time being but from what I've read 100% of the blame shouldn't be directed towards Matt. He did manage to finish the brawl tournament at a reasonable hour considering we started at 12pm so he is definately not a "completely useless T.O."

There was simply a lack of communication from a lot of sides during the event. In the end though Nova should of been contacted sick or not.

DIF - thanks for running melee - ALSO I heard u were recording after doubles finals? Is there any chance u could upload that friendly footage? Or at least the Falco vs Fox on battlefield where I pulled the best 0>death of my life - REALLY want that combo.
