About this thread:
I made this thread for people to go to when they want to learn more about a character. In this thread you can find the pro's and cons on each character in brawl. This is a great thread for people who are new to brawl and are trying to pick a main character. By looking at the pro's and con's of each character, you can see what character is best for you. For example, if you are not good at recovering and are looking for a main character with a good recovery, you can check this thread for characters with good recoveries. You can also use this thread to help you learn match ups. If you want me to add or change anything, please tell me.

my opinions on this

1. I don't think Diddy's horizontal recovery is really that bad

2. Don't make Ganon look like such a bad player, he has some good combos if you look into him.

Some pros/cons I know

Lucas:
Pros-Excels greatly from a distance
Cons-vulnerable to long-distance attacks that aren't projectiles, main recovery move is easily nullified by a few characters(ie: another Lucas, Ness, G&W)

Kirby: Pros- 5 jumps, Kirbycide
Cons- Slightly laggy smash attacks

I didn't thoroughly go through this but here are some major things you missed. A lot of them can be applied to more then one. For instance "easily chain grabbed, big target for combos" can apply to just about every large low tier character.

Diddy Kong: Pros~ Decent range and good grab game.

Falco: Cons~ Bad recovery

Wario: Pros~ great maneuverability (does very well on stages with obstacles, transformations, platforms, that move) IN fact, Wario has the best air dodge in the game.

Marth: Pros~ Amazing range, speed and priority, best overall match-ups in the game after MK (this was before the match ups were being rediscussed though), dancing blade, dolphin slash is super fast, 0%-tipper on many characters.

Olimar: Pros~ amazing camping and grab game.

Pikachu: Cons~ mediocre range?

ZSS can attack in the air. In fact she has one of the best aerial games.

GW: Pros~ Super fast in killing, bucket braking, great maneuverability (does very well on stages with obstacles, transformations, platforms, that move).
Cons~ very easily telegraphed - predictable and low character development

TL: Pros~ great camping game
Cons~ Has trouble killing

Fox: Pros~ laser
Cons~ easily KO'd

Fox does NOT have weak attacks

Wolf: Pros~ Good (though unique) spacing game, good overall match-ups.
Cons~ Bad recovery, no SHDL

DK: Pros~ Very strong attacks a lot of which have decent speed and big hitboxes, Donkeycide
Cons~ ***** by most upper tier characters, no vertical recovery, big target, vulnerable to infinites

Kirby's smashes don't lag that much tbh.

ROB: Pros~ great projectiles, great recovery
Cons~ lack of development, big target, vulnerable to chain grabs, cannot airdodge out of up-b

Shiek: Cons~ mediocre range

Ness: Pros~ DEATH BY GRAB
Cons~ Vulnerable to certain characters's grab release infinites.

Yoshi: Pros~ smashes have decent killing power
Cons~ no up-B recovery

Charizard: Pros~ Slow gliding
Cons: big target, chain grabbed

Squirtle: pros~ good jab and grabs

Ivysaur: Pros~ u-smash is ****

Mario: pros~ cape
cons~ weak killing moves

Bowser: pros~ bowsercide, f-tilt is awesome
cons~big target, easily combo'd, easily chain grabbed, slow moves, easily camped.

CF: pros~ jab and u-air are decent moves, SHOW ME YO' MOVES
cons~ terrible priority, hard to kill with, knee sucks

I honestly doubt beautiful has anything to do with pros. Not to say she isn't beautiful. Though that doesn't help her while fighting. Her cons through her recovery is only bad in terms of vertical recovery because as you did say and is correct her second jump is the worst in the game and she almost entirely has to rely on Peach Parasol to recover vertical wise. Horizontal wise she will get back to the stage.

Her KOing power isn't good. 2 of her KOing moves Usmash and Fsmash in terms with the Tennis Racket have to sweet spot to give off any knock back. Dsmash isn't broken anymore. Peach can quickly stall her Fair which that is dependent on how often you use it. Nair, Bair and good at KOing when her opponent is near the blast zones. Utilt can KO when fresh.

I wouldn't listen to anyone's opinion on Wolf who doesn't even use him...His recovery is fine.

Pro's- Great spacing game, good aerial mobility, heavy, deceptive recovery, a campable projectile, and an invincible move (shine).

Con's- He has landing penalty everytime he has to up or side b, his weight and fallspeed make him susceptible to being chain grabbed and juggled by many characters (Though there are ways around this with shine), and his jab is frame 4.

Okay, rather than bash this, I'll help.

King Dedede
Pros: Amazing grab game, best vertical knockback resistance in the game, great range on most attacks, unreflectable projectiles, amazing recovery for being the 4th heaviest, amazing edgeguarder, has standing infinites on DK/Mario/Samus/Luigi, ledge infinites on Bowser/Dedede/Wolf, a situational infinite on Snake, and wall infinites on all but 12 characters.
Cons: Struggles with too much pressure, despite a great recovery is easily edgeguarded by many characters, large size means he gets shieldpoked more frequently than most character, can be hard to get a grab as him than with most other characters because most players will be specifically playing around your grab

Cons: Many of his attacks come out kinda slow(and for you Lucario pros looking at this post now, yes, I've played him before).

and BTW, ness and lucas have virtually the same recovery. the only differences in their recoveries really is Ness's PK thunder goes faster and has to go in a wider circle than Lucas's PK thunder.

Some pros for Peach:
-Great OoS option(ground float nair and bair, nair in general is good OoS)
-Great damage racking capabilities
-Great projectile
-Great spacing tools
-Overall great priority on moves

Some cons:
-Hard to kill characters like D3, Snake, Dk, etc.
-Her actual KO moves can be hard to land
-Gets ***** offstage by MK

Wolf does not have a bad recovery, lmao. If you're using him for the first time, or it's 2008, then I can understand why you would think that.

Long Flash-canceling actually gives him one of the better horizontal recoveries in the game.

Lol@ppl putting in Yoshi's up b as a con, this ain't 08. Only real con he has is his shield. Otherwise, basically everything else is a pro, mostly air speed, best command grab, great jab, etc

Squirtle- Pro- Cute, very fast jab/forward tilt, great at chasing air dodges, unique pivot animation, capable of shellshifting/hydrograbbing, U-tilt is fast and combos.

Cons- Fatigued Squirtle can't KO well, poor range, grab release animation makes him very vulnerable, Light Weight.

Ivy- Pro- Bullet seed comes out very fast (frame 3 IIRC) and can do big damage to unprepared opponents. Up B is useful to stuff aerial approaches, Bair is quick with great range, nair is quick and can shield poke or spike.

Pro- Paralyzer guarantees large damage, dash attack can combo, can chaingrab some characters, great range on whip attacks, deceptive range and hitboxes on air attacks, Uair is very fast, versatile recovery.

Con- Lightweight, jab combo can be DIed out of, whiffed grabs leave her vulnerable, struggles on level stages, poor range on projectile, poor back roll (can be alleviated by pivoting into a forward roll).

Hey I got this great game we could all play. It's called the "when someone posts some incorrect information we politely explain why they're wrong" game. It's a lot of fun.

@Bluezelda, Kirby has one of the better recoveries in the game FYI

@Narigo1, Marth has a pretty good KO potential, if he didn't, he wouldn't be higher tier than Lucas, who has some really good KO moves.
