If the polls are any indication of characters, out of that remaining 5 Geno, Ridley and Krystal should be next in line. That leaves room for one more of the fan favorites, (Lucario or K. Rool I bet,) and probably one character that none of us saw coming.


Its safe to say I'm shaking in my Geno boots for the little feller right about now, though.

Okay, I dunno if it's safe to compile a roster based upon multiple leaks, because even if they all fit, it's more than likely that at least one of those leakers is full of it and just making up stuff that "fits." That being said, it still doesn't look good. Money's tight and the only reason me and my friends play smash is for vs mode. If the roster's not good enough I see no reason to plunk down another 60$ when we already have melee. I mean, SSE isn't enough of an incentive to buy a smash game IMO.

I have a VERY strong hunch that the reason we are only getting 35 characters is due to the SSE.

I thought someone said Sakurai was listening to the fans. What on earth were the polls for if Ridley, Krystal, and Geno are to be left out?

As far as I can see, Ridley would be too awkward (Not too big, too awkward), Krystal has as many haters as fans, and Geno could simply be too complicated copyright-wise... I dunno for certain, but I could see something like Chronobound's patched-up roster happening, and to be honest it isn't that bad. Sakurai and his special team are only human, guys. They can't do everything!

If you ask me, the Subspace Story is probably to blame if the character count is really 35. It already looks to be a huge adventure where potentially every character and their story is somewhat explored in some silly way, so a roster like 55 would be too much for everyone to handle... and I'm sure they don't want to cut characters from this epic story. Also, balancing issues.

You can flame me for liking Chronobound's roster if you want, but it's not like it's 100% certain anyway.

also i hate this waiting game yesterday i'm all pumped for 48 characters thinknig there will be several more 3rd party characters if that's the case and now today i'm re-visiting prophets who have been around for months and depressing myself.

So true.. I think 40 would be able to accomodate for everybody's needs. 35 is enough, and I'd be happy, but I suppose with the corruption of the boards I have been contaminated with fantastic ideas O.O. There are so many other Nintendo characters who would fit perfectly.

We'll just have to wait and see. And then those who will be disappointed will just have to deal haha.

Geno isn't in probably because they couldn't work out a deal with Square Enix. With Sega, Nintendo probably gave the rights to use Mario in the Olympic Games game while Sega gave Nintendo the right to use Sonic in Brawl.

God. If Sakurai listened to western fans, his ears wouldn't be ringing with Ridley. I think he'd be more concerned about his brain getting dumber by just listening to the drivel spouted out. If you want to get an idea of how big the roster is with 35, add another row at the bottom of Melee's screen and add another column on both sides.

I think a lot of people are concerned about the quality of the roster I provided rather than the quantity. There are no surprises on this roster aside from maybe R.O.B. and Ness returning.

Absolutely. And if that's the direction that Sakurai wants to take the game in that's fine. The problem is that I don't expect the single player to be anything new or revolutionary. So what's the incentive vs mode wise to buy the game? That's all me and my firends are going to play. Hell, if you believe what some of the competitive players are saying, IT CAN BE ARGUED THAT THE VS MODE ACTUALLY GOT WORSE SINCE MELEE. It just seems like a bit of a risky direction to take the game in. Who am I to argue with it though? It's going to sell tons anyway, and sad as it may be, that's all that really ends up mattering.

cubaisdeath, you are very correct.. people are getting their hopes up way too much. Blinded by what there could be, it's a shame to neglect what we already have, which is a lot. I would be happy with that roster, even if it was missing one or two I wanted. Ridley to me is just a ridiculous idea, and Krystal.. well she's alright but I'd rather have a decent Star Fox character who played a more significant role in the series. Geno? Interesting idea.. can't say I really want him in though. Isaac.. definitely. Yea I'm a bit biased towards Golden Sun ^^'.

yay someone finally agrees. Seriously though, we have like, what? 24 confirmed characters on the site? that means we have 1 less than melee already, without clones and unlockables. the amount of content in this game is phenomenal and its sad that most people don't see that. sure you won't be playing single player all day, but just fact that there is an actual story now makes me want to play it several times through. a true smash fan would appreciate any advancement in the series PERIOD.

Although I'm buying this game for multiplayer, I really like the Subspace Emissary. It looks like a Kirby Superstar sequel and Kirby Superstar was awesome. Brawl's roster already meets my expectation and Brawl's extra features have exceeded my expectations. I guess some of you who believed every rumour that random GameFAQs user #5 thought up are just disappointed. As someone who only followed the real articles/podcasts/dojo and reliable sources, I'd say that if the game turns out how I think it will, this will be better than Melee.

Of course being better than Melee will take a few years to figure out. A fighting game's competitive viability is only tested over years of play.

BTW, other than ROB, that looks like a great list ChronoBound. I don't think ROB will be playable due to his part in the Subspace Emissary. Also, who the hell is ShadowXOR?

I believe Sakurai can make anything work really (well, except Ditto apparently ), but ROB's role as a plain minion in SSE and the fact that he's just a failed accessory that got randomly added to MKDS makes it seem unlikely.

Also, I still don't know who this ShadowXOR guy is. I understand Nya has some credentials and that ChaosZero pulled off the Dragoon prediction. Who's ShadowXOR?

I find it quite interesting that not many, if any, of these leakers has listed Midna as a playable character. Not that I'm sure of her being playable, I just remember an interview. I don't remember with whom, could have been Aonuma, but an interview where he says that one new character from TP will be playable in Brawl. It was not long before TP was released, well the question remains why hasn't any of these leakers stated that? Well it could be because of three explanations:

1. The leakers are fake. (Which I hope)

2. Aonuma was wrong (If it was him in the interview)

3. My memory fails me. Aonuma perhaps didn't say playable, but instead meant that one new character in TP would be in Brawl in some form. If this is true then it probably means an AT.

Well, I don't know if this added anything to the speculation, but I certainly hope that these leakers are fake. I mean 35 may not be a bad number, but many of my favorites would probably be left out. Sakurai have also said that he wants more female characters playable, then why won't he add some? I mean Krystal, Midna and Micaiah should he at least be considering.

scroll down a bit on the page I linked. I posted your list there and he commented on it. It's a great list, BTW, really insightful way of combining all the beleivable leaks. Based on what Mark just said, i beleive all of Chaos Zero's info is likely true.
