Despite its flaws, I enjoyed XIII. And XIII-2 is actually a pretty good game. So, I'm pretty excited for this game too.

I'd also like Versus XIII, but I'm not in any rush for it.

I like XIII, especially after the first few hours, but I haven't played XIII-2 yet.

In all honesty, I think most people's complaints about XIII stem from how boring the first few hours are. The rest is cool.

I'm personally not a fan of the battle system, and the story is not one of the best in the FF entries. It totally turned me off, so I haven't even bothered with 13-2.

Plus, it also means Versus keeps getting held back.

What do you mean?

Uh...I was just talking when there was no FFX-2, FFIV-After Years, FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus/Crisis Core/whatever that Turks game is, FFXIII-2/3, etc. Like when each numbered FF game had everything that was to happen wrapped up and handled within the one game.

That era has never really happened though. As long as there's been FF games, it's always had spin-offs and sequels, some of which transformed into their own metaseries. For example, Final Fantasy Adventure was a spinoff that spawned the Mana series. And some of the spin-offs aren't even typical FF fare, like Tactics or Dissidia.

Weren't the gameboy Final Fantasy Legend games and the Final Fantasy Adventure games not even made or associated with Square, though? And Final Fantasy Tactics for the PS1 is its own universe and just 1 game, isn't it? Though I'll give you that since Ehrgeiz there's been stuff like that happening.

Final Fantasy Legend and Adventure were both made by Square. And Tactics is still part of the FF universe, I was just using it as an example. That's like saying Crystal Chronicles or Chocobo Dungeon aren't FF spin-offs either.

I was under the thought that Livewire was talking about sequels/spinoffs for specific FF universes.
Any spinoff during the development time of FF 1-9 had nothing to do with existing stories. Ever since then, they made spinoffs and sequels for existing FF games like VII, X, and on.

I'm not surprised at all the direct sequels now though since it's easier to reuse resources.

Getting platinums in the Jak and Daxter Collection.

Playing these games again reminds of how fairly challenging they are.
I still need to platinum Jak 2/start Jak 3.
Precursor Legacy took me around 10 hours to platinum this time round, still an awesome game though.
Jak II's a pain though, I breezed through the story mode this time (I shocked myself with that, considering it took me 48 hours spread over 3 years to finish it the first time XD) with the exception of 3 missions;
The falling boulder part in the Mountain that gave me no trouble on the PS2 version, the city race, and the mission towards the end in the Baron's tower.

However, I'm determined to platinum them without using the orb glitch, and I've found all in level orbs without a guide and done most kiosk missions now. I've just go a few kiosks, the races, and the gun courses left to do. Jak 3 was annoying for the fact that the hub worlds had orbs as well, so I'm not looking forward to that :urg:.

I'm also one of the only people I've spoke to that didn't have trouble in the
Seal Piece at Slums and
mission on Jak 2.

I just need to explore all areas one last time and beat the Class Race times that are looking pretty impossible right now.
I remember the class races being fairly easy to gold on the PS2, never got round to golding the reverse races though, the 3rd class reverse race was bad enough. The city race gold is stupid though, due to the fat civilians who basically act as bumpers and never get out of your way. I missed a really stupidly obvious orb in the Pumping Station, and spent like 3 hours looking for it because I thought to myself 'oh I've got the one from there already, there's no way I could have missed that one, lets look somewhere else' -_-.

Oh man, don't tell me it's the orb that was revealed in the cutscene. lol The city race wasn't too bad for me. I got close to gold on one of my first tries.
No, I got that one XD. It was the one on the little island that you can swim or jetboard to the right (I think lol) of the entrance.
Another one I missed was in the War Factory, which was annoying considering you have to backtrack to leave that area whenever you revisit it, and have to do a load of blind jetboard jumps on conveyor belts :urg:.

I'm having trouble with, and always have had trouble with, that kiosk mission in the market where you have to drive the zoomer to the Underground hideout and take the route across that raised road above the market which is always full of Hellcats and the larger vehicles. I may have done it on the PS2, but I sure as hell haven't done it on the Trilogy DX.

Are you sure you've missed orbs in the nest, and not anywhere else?
If you've got orb hunt kiosk missions left you could just glitch the last 12. You're obviously missing some from outside the nest, as there are only 7 or 8 in there if I remember correctly.

My ego...It's OVER 9000!
I don't have orb hunt kiosk missions left, so I'm using a new save file to orb glitch for like an hour...

I used level select to explore the Nest and I found 3 orbs that I know I didn't get last time.

Everyone's take on the PS3 Slim 2.0?

http://www.slashgear.com/ps3-gets-another-redesign-at-tokyo-game-show-19248312/

I personally think it's good. Some people are complaining it should be cheaper, but when you look at it...it's 20 dollars more than a 160 GB Slim 1.0 (269.99), but it gives you 90 GB more in space, Uncharted 3, and 30 dollars in some game that I personally could care less about.

Overall though, a good value IMO. I dunno if people were expecting the same price, or even 220 or something.

Seems unnecessary in my opinion.

I mean, all that stuff is nice and all, but it's not that much better than the system that's already out.

Aye, and plus the 80gig normal one I have cost me a bundle and I unfortunately don't just have $270 that I can randomly throw away like it's nothing on another system that I already have, ya know?

I'm pretty sure this isn't geared at old consumers as much as potential new consumers to come off as more appealing vs the Wii U >_>.

Well good thing the bundle is targeted towards consumers who haven't bought a PS3 then...

True, but that wasn't really my point.

I mean, sure, it's a good deal and I'm sure that was their intent (as noted by ebored and Minato), rather than unveiling a new console. I am more doubtful that this will actually sway anyone to buy the console. I mean, if you haven't bought a PS3 already, will you ever?

I guess it's possible. I mean, there's a number of good IPs on it and while unlikely, it's possible that somebody could stumble onto the first game for one of them at a friends house and be like "I HAVE GOT TO GET THIS!" and buy the system. Of course, like you said Lythi, that's not really likely to happen though.

Haha, you cannot kill the PS2!

I'm pretty sure people were still making games for it until recently. Or maybe they still are, and I just don't know about it.

Almost all those reasons can be applied to the PS3 >_>. Minus the ability to use PS1 memory cards.

It's also a bit of failed logic, because customers looking to get a PS3 now won't be looking at playing PS1 or PS2 games. Otherwise, they would have gotten the fat PS3 models from a long time ago. People who got Slim PS2s were not looking to play PS1 games, otherwise they would have bought a PS2 long before that. Customers that buy the later iterations are generally newcomers to gaming, conscious saving customers, or something in between.

Prices of consoles are naturally higher, but weigh the same if you adjust for inflation and overall what you're getting in the package. 170 for the debut of the PS2 Slim vs 250 for the original PS3 Slim. I forget to mention that the PS3 Slim also gave you a built in hard drive of 120 GB and a Blu-Ray player, which buying stand alone TODAY will run you an extra 50 EACH.

How much did PS2 memory cards go for? 30 bucks? So you're paying 200 vs 250. Big whoop. Slim 2.0 gives you Uncharted 3 (GOTY contender), more HD space, and the obvious Blu-Ray built in. Great deal if you ask me.

I didn't say it was a bad deal, just kind of unnecessary (my two cents). Rather than having another bundle of another upgraded PS3, I'd rather Sony work on fixing things they already have. *cough* Vita *cough* But that's a whole other story.

On another note, Jet Set Radio is out on PSN, and I must buy it.
