Oh, FFTA is great, so much to do in-game. Double Sword is a pisser to master.

Yes, Pokemon counts. If it's Pokemon, it'd have to be Mystery Dungeon Darkness for me

I can't believe you can trade "you can get only one of these" sidequest items with other players in FFTA.
Midgame, I didn't know at the time and a friend was asking for one of those quest swords so I gave it to him.
Proceeded to beat the game and spent months cycling through all the months for a quest that gave that reward again.
Unable to 100% had to restart.

I like FFT for having a more challenging mechanic in comparison to FFTA (such as both sides having a high base accuracy in most attacks and still hit hard for an easy 300+ late game, and the urgency of reviving fallen party members at all times). However FFTA does have that portability and repeatable quests to farm on. Yet the law system is a bit a hassle to manage at times.

So. Much. Stabbing. In FFT. Glorious.

Chrono Cross, Mother 3, Lightning Returns (biased since i just beat it and have the feels present), and FFX. I really like these even tho some of the games gameplay was medicore because of how the story made me feel.

There is gonna be tornadic activity in my area, so freaking scary *teary eyed*

You said Chrono Cross, and that made me think "nobody likes Chrono Trigger?"

I forget how out of place I am in the Smash community sometimes.
I do not play video games other than Smash anymore and it's weird when they're like playing other games at tourneys on handhelds or raving about a new game (online or in-person).

Lots of nice choices here, even some things I've never heard of. Alot of you said that story isn't the focus, but has any VG ever made you cry?

Pokemon Explorers of Darkness actually made me tear up a few times, haha!

Rune Factory is an RPG, at least Rune Factory 4 is definitely an RPG. Even has a nice crafting system better than most RPGs i would say.

@Bobby: I'll allow you to take credit for it I guess. (d) Thanks everyone who came out, that was a good one!

& Ussi, I still consider RF games as farming sims, but they definitely have RPG elements too with the caves. Haven't played Tides of Destiny or RF4 yet tho.

@Klo I've played 4, and that's my only experience with rune factory, and it makes me say its an RPG. Farming sim or not, its got levels, dungeons, party members, weapons/armor to make/loot and treasure to find. It also has a story that you can actually follow.

Also have catching up to do... Some of this is from like 3 pages ago. And although not as bad, like redfeatherraven's post, it's kind of long

I don't know what this means but it must be funny because it has 6 likes. Anyone want to explain?

It can't be worse than Brawl.
Yes it can. It can always be worse. If Sakurai finally got it in his heart to try to destroy the competitive scene, he'd just quietly remove the option that says "Turn off items." And it would be worse (for competition, not worse off for casual matches or whatever). And other subtle changes like this (BF as the only neutral for instance, maybe no FD or SV and more Big Blue-ish stages) could make the game far worse in most people's eyes than Brawl ever was. I'd say more but I hope this is all false and that it is a better game (but that's cuz I hope the sequel is always better, regardless of the original).

I just beat lightning returns and I have to say that while the series is hated on a lot, it had a really emotional ending and I felt like it was really good.
I got it and have DLC but haven't started yet (in the middle of Tales of Vesperia (somewhere in the middle)) so no spoilers please. Also FYI to h8ters, the combat of FF-XIII is awesome, y'all just can't adapt. Auto-battle is totally for n00bs though, so maybe you were too n00bish to realize manually selecting abilities is the way to go 99+% of the time (although sometimes under haste and atb +30%, or in tense situations where you know that the mechanics of the game will cause it to act as you would, just hitting up once and double-tapping X was just as strategic).

kyokoro_pamuyo said:
imo, is not about just playing or pressing buttons, or wanting to skip a cinematic.
But when 70% of the time you're being bombed with story, you get not too much room to explore or make things the way YOU want them to be, you feel like you've been railroaded into the ending, rather than finding one yourself.
I mean, COME ON! We have technologies to have like 50 endings, I'd rather have that many possible ways to finish a game than fancy CG Graphics.
There's like 10 endings in FF-XIII-2 if you count paradox endings, but you just quit beforehand. Lame.

Also, you need to actually get to Pulse in FF-XIII, then stuff opens way up, although there is still a need to explore to get all the treasures (some of which are out of the way and very valuable). Also Growth Egg in Chapter 11 is so good (beat 63 marks before going back to Cocoon, I've seen people beat Vercingetorex before Chapter 12 but I gave up on doing that or I'd have had the most boss file ever).

I just like video games in general. So...

I don't think Ratchet and Clank games count as RPGs but I love those, same for Jak and Daxter (and Jak X Combat Racing), Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Vesperia (I start the game on hard mode and power train so I'm like level 50 in Tales of Vesperia and I just did Secret Mission 12, whatever that tells other players), also Tales of Graces F (still must beat final boss in under 60 seconds... darn Fodra Queen on hard! Lv 101 too low, or whatever I'm at), FF-VII Crisis Core (although I usually break the game, even on Hard mode, by being too good, beat Minerva in Chapter 6 once on hard mode), FF-VII even though I've never made it off the first disk, FF-XIII and FF-XIII-2, haven't played Lightning Returns but I hope to like it, enjoyed pretty much all the KH games (the only hard one is 358/2 days on Critical mode, doing no damage while getting 3HKOed : P, others Critical mode still loses to a bit of well-timed leveling), played most of Project X Zone and enjoyed it [on Chapter 38, gotta be near the end...], some Yugioh games for my PSP, Hot Shots Golf games for PS2/PS3/PSP, Daxter for PSP, Tales of the World Radiant Mythology for PSP (have all the green items on normal and a play time that's really high, still need to collect them all on hard and very hard and I want a better Gold Armor item, mine's practically garbage), Pokémon Yellow, Silver, Sapphire, Emerald, Diamond, and White (the ones I've played for more than a fleeting moment (i.e., more than just run through beat it and done)), and Crash Bandicoot Racing. That's not all of them, but it's a good list of stuff I like to play.

And of course, any of the Super Smash Brothers games (Brawl- is also awesome, I like PM but not the reasons for which it was made).

Not fully clear why you're on Brawl Pikachu boards, but I think I understand this issue, sort of in reverse. I don't really have friends but I have tons of video games so when I see people we don't have good conversation material and they think I'm weird. Even among Smashers I know, most of them don't play some of the stuff I play so I can't say much about what I play besides Smash.

I'm not clear what a "xat" community is, but, uh... thanks?

So... probably not gonna be around here until Monday and then I'll have a bunch more stuff to read and respond to/like.

Has anybody ever felt emotionally detached from themselves and others? Strange thing
I'm no psych or anything, and self-diagnosing is bad, but that sounds like derealization/depersonalization (Google them). Common symptoms of anxiety and other mental health issues, or sometimes during withdrawal from certain drugs.

Or you could just be having a weird day, who knows. If it's real bad, see a doctor.

There are alot of non-pikas here, just to socialize :)

Yeah, Kaylo, it's strange when you feel like an empty vessel. Thanks *smile*

Something hilarious about the thread title; there are powerful, tornadic storms in my area. I shouldn't be laughing about it, but it's just stupidly funny xD xD

Xat's a web chat thing and the Pikachu players seem to have an active chat there so congratulations :)
A lot of people have trouble 'attaching emotionally' to people.
Bye.

Our Xat's pretty much exclusively for movie nights (I think), but we do have a pretty kick*** character community.

Zeldas would have a good one too, but there just aren't enough of us lol.

Good Birthdays on ya PG. I suggest you go get youself a cake made out of moon pies bought from some country shop of sorts. Or if they do have them at retail stores which I haven't really seen.

Yes.

All of you go buy Bravely Default.
Immediately~!!

The amount of customization and job classes in it are incredible. Despite the random encounters being actually quite fun, it mostly focuses on boss fights and throws them at ya really frequently. The games also pretty dang long so it'll last ya for a good bit.

I definitely recommend this ****. :T

They look pretty fab in the rose tuxedos too.
I kinda pick job classes based off of how fabulous the characters looks in that costume. :T

Ooooo, I'll remember that one. Sunny, I do kinda the same thing; cuteness and beauty over actually useful traits.

*after watching the trailer* OMG I NEED THIS DAMN GAME IN MY LIFE
