Ohhh, you're talking about the spiders... I thought you were talking about black women who's husbands were recently deceased...

LMAO

I thought about making that joke, but I didn't know how to make it funny, so I decided not to. :(

I like having spiders in my apartment since they take care of small pests well. House centipedes are really good, too. Black widows are kind of excessive, though, and I'd rather have a less hazardous spider. Spiders of any sort almost never kill people in the developed world, so the paranoia about them is kind of silly, though.

Actually, I agree 100% with Fly, and i'm a [recovering] arachnophobic. How do centipedes help though? I thought they were simply vermin

I'm sure a bunch of centipedes are just pests, but house centipedes are fine. It's very rare for them to sting humans, and they eat a lot of obnoxious pests, like moths and cockroaches. To be clear, I'm talking about this type of centipede: http://bugguide.net/node/view/22/bgpage

Also, just for the hell of it, here is a big picture of a cute house centipede eating a crane fly:

Damn that guy looks fierce. I think i've seen those before, but they always look like the worst offenders. I guess i'll try to not kill one next time, but its gonna be hard... Only thing that creeps me out more than spiders are centipedes

Those guys always jump out of the drain right before I'm about to take a shower.

I didn't know they were that useful though, they don't look like they could fight off a cockroach.

i don't have a fear of bugs, but those things are ugly as hell and I will kill them EVERY TIME. They are not welcome in my home.

That said, I've never seen so many spirders in my life til I moved to Ohio. There's a ton of plant life and they seem to be everywhere because of it. So I layed out a bunch of toxins before moving in :)
