Calling zair a projectile is like saying Marth only has projectiles. ;_;

Also, I never realized Toon Link was one word.

Uhm, I tend to just run away until they mess up. (:

^Lmao it's true

TL used to be kind of a pain for me because while I do use side B a lot, I don't really abuse it. In this matchup you literally just have to be almost constantly using side B. NEVER, EVER APPROACH. There's no need to. Just spam that side B and, like Fino said, it'll throw off the TL's rhythm.

I also agree with richbrown and fino. We can out camp toon link, and mixing up whites and purples really help cause purples knock em away making him more vulnerable to the pikmin that are latched onto him, and white pikmins have a great arc and do a lot of damage. Pikmin bock all of his projectiles, read pikmin properly placed can negate his bomb and still rt him, making it only useful for him to Z drop his bomb (any latch able pikmin can block it but reads are immune to fire).

Honestly i think toonlink out-camps us because of variety.

NEXT: Gimped
Variety doesn't mean jack **** when you have two projectiles flying towards you in the time you can throw one. Our projectiles flat out beat and block TL's and if the pikmin don't die, they fail in the air for a second and then return to you on the ground (thus stay protecting olimar in those spots from more projectiles). When TL's projectiles hit a pikmin, they're gone.

Well, against anybody else, being in the situation shouldn't be frequent in the first place, but since there's always the mere chance of it...

Try to release the Chain early, preferably with good enough timing that you also hit your opponent and cause them to bounce off the stage edge. The Chain's reach is disjointed so you can latch on from about 30 degrees above.

You're switching this topic very often. x.x

What do you mean by canceling his grenades?

When you're camping Snake, it's very important to stay on the ground. Watch for cooked and uncooked grenades. When they're uncooked, throw them back at Snake. Keep track of where all the mines are. If you ever here Snake yell "NOW!", just instantly shield, son't bother wondering where it is.

When they throw a granade and they press the block button cancel it from flying any further.

And what if I do know where it is?
If you're sure of where it is, then don't shield. I'm just saying, might as well shield. Snake won't be able to punish unless he right there next to you, in which case he'll have to shield. He might be able to mortarslide you, but just throw out a shieldgrab in that case. I just find it easier to automatically shield when I hear Snake.

When they throw a granade and they press the block button cancel it from flying any further.
That's called grenade stripping iirc. I'm not too sure on that actually.

That tactic is used for Snake to get more stage control and to stop the opponent from using grenades against him. It just makes it harder to approach since not only is there a grenade at your feet, but a grenade in front of you, so you can only shield or run away.

This thread has gotten way too confusing to follow

And who cares if you find snake easy to **** if he's in the air? What does that have to do with grenades?

snakes up smash is pretty much only used for edgeguarding so they can shut down our options or as an approach. grenades are used at distanes and for switching direction in the air, but are only a threat from a distance.
when hes throwing grenades at u just keep camping him but be on ur guard. f smash is not an option if a grenade is in front of u cuz itll blow it up, so if snake approaches then grab will probably be ur best option most of the time
if he is cooking them, hes probably pulling the bomb, shielding,(hitting pikmin off of himself?,)and then throwing the grenade so it blows up once in reach of you
off of the top of my head the best thing to do is just predict these cooked grenades. if he pulls one and drops it, be ready to shield or dodge an explosion 2 to 3 seconds later
f smash beats dacuz unless grenades are near us. if they dacus with a grenade in front of u then a pivot grab, grab, or fair seems best. when theyre using charged upsmashes for edgeguarindg u really just have to play smart . i wouldnt try getting back on stage when there are upsmash missle things falling downward.

When you're airchasing Snake with your grabs, use uthrow instead of dthrow if he pulls a grenade. Uthrow doesn't set off the grenade.

They key is trying really hard not shield in the first place, and if you're forced to you shield you need to keep shielding so he doesn't land the jab->shoryuken on you- that is, unless you're at a percent you'll die from a throw (in which case you've done particularly well surviving that stock). It's usually better to get thrown than jabbed.

Extremely well spaced fairs and pivotgrabs will be your best zoning tools, so use them wisely. Fairs work well (especially yellows) because Luigi's aerial mobility is pretty awful. He can't drift towards you in the air very quickly, so if he short hops into the air and you can space a fair, do it. There won't be a big risk of getting hit. I think this goes without saying that you have to do this in an unpredictable way considering he can just fast fall to the ground and get up under you with a tornado.

Haven't really considered FAIRS to much. I try running under them and UP smash, or space F-smash.
