^^^Very true. Man, I would love to see an Event match with Mario vs. Sonic. And you get to choose who you wanna be!

That was my real problem with Event matches in SSBM. I say, you should choose. For example, Triforce Gathering. I say, you should be able to pick Link or Zelda, for those of us who suck with Link.

Anyway, Mario vs. Sonic would have to take place at FD. That would be the only appropriate place for such a legendary battle.

YES! SO TRUE! The last two posts should be written in the bible.

And I doubt they'd put any 3rd Party character as an assistant. Unless we were talking about characters that already have their main character as a playable character (i.e. someone like Raiden or Liquid Snake [MGS]). But having someone like Sora, Megaman, Sonic, or Leon S. Kennedy as an assistant would just be dumb. Going through all that work to get a character's rights and then only putting them in the game as an item? No way Jose.

^^^ Theres one for the bible too.

There is just too much truth in the past couple of posts. I've been arguing for Sonic for qutie some time, but it's never been explained that concisely. "Why waste their time?" -Perfect

Truly, Mario vs. Sonic will be the battle evryone whats to see. If the blue boy is in there as I unlock him I'm not even going to play with him I'm going to set him and Mario in computer mode, put them both on Level 9(or whatever the highest level will be now),set them on the Final Destination stage, sit back and relax, and enjoy the show.

Exactly what I was thinking. :chuckle: I'll buy the game even if it just has Mario,Sonic, and two other characters.:lick:

Three guidlines? (Don't maim me for asking.)

@X-x-Dyce-x-X: Are you in love with Sonic or something?

On topic: how does everyone think they'll remodel FD (if they do)? I mean, it'll still be a basic platform, but will it keep the cone coming off the bottom? And what 'bout the backgrounds?
1) The Story of the Three Guidelines: Once upon a time there were three guidelines Sakurai wanted people to follow when requesting potential characters for Brawl, just so people didn't flood his mailbox with stupid things. I'll find it for you in a little bit.

2) Yes :) When I was but a lad, I owned a Sega Genesis and a Sega Game Gear. Let's just say... about half of the 10 Genesis games I owned were Sonic games, and all 6 of the Game Gear games I owned were Sonic games. Sonic has been, and probably always will be, my favorite video game character.

3) I'm sure FD will keep the cone shape it's always had, hopefully it keeps that orb of darkness thing (I like it for some reason, I don't know why... I guess it just looks cool and makes me happy). Maybe they'll go with a theme that's a combination between the new Battlefield and the old FD. Something like this: It will start out like all realistic like the new Battlefield and then it will warp into technology/space/fantasy world like it did in Melee. Maybe the level itself will change as well? That would be nifty.

1) Okay, thanks.

2) Ah. So where does your name come from? Just curious. And, as I'm sure you've guessed, my favorite series (besides Smash, of course) is The Legend of Zelda.

3) That would be neat. I'd love to see what kind of crates and barrels they have on every level. And I like that orb of darkness too, as well as the cone thing--good for Link/YL recovery. (Hookshot! Walljump! Yay!)

...but I doubt that the level will change. I mean, FD is just supposed to be the flat stage for the most serious, straightforward battles. I dunno how much I'd like it to change, either. Backgrounds, sure. But not the stage itself. But I wouldn't mind if they'd added another platform off each side of Battlefield. In my opinion, that stage was a little too small; another paltform or two to lengthen it would be perfect.

I mean, FD is just supposed to be the flat stage for the most serious, straightforward battles.
Not that there's truly anything serious or straightforward about Smash in general...

Heh, nothing we've seen about Brawl has been serious or straightforward yet.
But I'm all for final destination as a location for mario and sonic to fight in an event match XD

Yeah, if Sonic is in that might just be the way you unlock him.

Hm. Suprisingly enough I hadn't thought about that. I'm not an avid supporter of Sonic, I just know it makes a bit of sense at this point, with Mario and Sonic at the Olympics on the way. I don't know. It jsut seems right.

I know exactly what you mean, and I feel the same. If he's good--better than my main at the time (read: Link/MK)--I'll play as him. Otherwise, naah. Sure, it would be cool to have him in the game, but he's not one of my favorite characters ever. (Sorry, Dyce.) I just don't know what attacks he'd have.

Anyway, back to the actual topic...

Hmm. I don't seem to have any thoughts about it!

Hey, am I the only latecomer to read every page?

I think he could have a move set, jsut have to combine it with games like shadow the hedgehog so there is a potential for projectiles as well. I'm thinking about how sweet it would be if there were a bowsers castle level.

@twilight_hero:
Here's two of the three guidelines that were followed in the development for Brawl characters, I took these from SamuraiPanda's page. I swear there are three, but I just can't find the actual list right now. When the people of Japan were sending in suggestions to Sakurai, these were the criteria that had to be followed:

#31-40: (1)Sakurai starts by saying there wont be any manga characters. Then he begins talking about other companies characters to appear in the game. Among other things, (2)Sakurai says that the character MUST have appeared on a Nintendo platform before. And to literally translate the last sentence (keep in mind this is in reference to the characters from other companies): "Anyways, at most we'll add another 1-2 characters [after Snake], maybe?"

I believe there are two more, Dyce. "The character will have to be the sole representative for their series." (This was probably left out because one would assume this from the limited number slots.) And "The character will be entrusted to Mr. Sakurai and his team." (Which, I believe, is a given as well since Mr. Sakurai and his team are the ones making the game and the owners would probably just evaluate the character for faithfulness etc.)

What I think we need is Meta Knight to finally be put up on the roster or Zelda's moveset. There's just too much mind-boggling questions going through my mind as to why Meta Knight hasn't been updated yet, and what Zelda's dB will be.
I agree, with you i just want to see some info on Meta Knight.
Also i would like to she what Zelda's db.

Is anyone else thrilled with the idea of a classic sonic stage like emerald hills or casino in brawl if he makes it? I'm really hopeful there will be one for him if Sonic gets in.

I expect a bowser stage to be in the game. He seems to be getting attention from the developers in brawl, so a stage would be logical.

I just hope the LoZ stage is more accurate, or at least small enough for tourny playing.

Oh my god, you're like my clone! First you take my avatar, and then you take my thoughts!!!
...GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!

What we really need to do though is get all the known information out of the way: the Fire Emblem stages, indoors and out; the Mario Kart stage; Meta Knight and the Haliberd stage; Zamus; and finally Snake and his stages. From that point on we'll only be getting new information and not have to worry about going: "Ugh! We already knew that!"

@Devastlian: When you say "Wolf," (in your sig) do you mean from Star Fox or TP? And if Ganondorf returns, he should have his sword.

That's off-topic. But still. Think about it.
Ya, Wolf as in Wolf O'Donell from Star Fox. That'd probably be what his character would be called as opposed to "Wolf Link" or "Midna and Wolf Link" or whatever Link as a wolf would be called.

I wouldn't mind either way about Ganondorf; just as long as he's as awesome as he was in TP.

There's a bit more information than that. I've counted it and, taking in everything such as four posts for each character and all the stages we know about, we have at least 45 or so posts left (not counting music). :/

Cool...about 9 weeks worth of information concerning characters/stages/gameplay/so on is left. Great! Thanks for figuring that out Devastlian.

Ya, that isn't taking into account other new things like new gameplay elements, music, items (of every kind), stages, and the fact that each confirmed character brings three more possible updates with them...However, old, obvious information may be given in groups (like Mario and Link and Kirby and Pikachu) so...it's extremely hard to predict. I wouldn't be suprised if it's 20-30 weeks worth of information or if Mr. Sakurai plans on updating en mass later on and suprising us with an earlier than expected release. It's completely unpredictable..

REALLY!? 45 posts? No way. Can we count this up right here and right now? I'll start it, and you fill me in on everything I missed ok?

1) Meta Knight
2) Zamus
3) Snake
4) Kirby's FS
5) Fox's FS
6) Samus' FS
7) Zelda's FS
8) Pit's FS
9) Wario's FS
10) Meta Knight's FS
11) Zamus' FS
12) Snake's FS
13-14) Mario's moveset
15-16) Link's moveset
17-18) Kirby's moveset
19-20) Pikachu's moveset
21) Fox's moveset
22-23) Samus' moveset
24-25) Zelda's moveset
26-27) Bowser's moveset
28) Pit's moveset
29) Wario's moveset
30-31) Meta Knight's moveset
32-33) Zamus' moveset
34-35) Snake's moveset
36) Castle stage (at best assuming both Castle stages are one stage)
37) Halberd stage
38) Mario Kart stage
39) Pokemon Colosseum
40) Angel Land stage
41) Helipad stage (assuming both Metal Gear stages are one stage)
42) Crawling

Wow... well that's the best I could do and I almost met your calculations. That's rediculous. Hopefully after E3, and potentially a release date, Sakurai will start giving us BUNDLES of information (like at least complete movesets this time around?). Oh my god, we are in for a long summer ladies and gentlemen.

^^^Yes, we truly are. And more than summer, for sure. There'll be stuff right up to the release, I'm sure. And I wonder if all characters can crawl. I doubt it--not everyone could walljump in M. Hey, I wonder if they'll bring walljumping back. In the next one (hopefully for DS), swimming should be a skil. I also think Link will be able to crawl, if only certain characters can. I just wanna know what purpose it will serve; shortcuts on stages maybe? More glitches?

P.S. Here's something you forgot--Zelda stage.

I really want to see Link's moveset.

If we assume that there will be forty characters (and--also assuming--Link and Wolf Link are one character, as are Samus and Zamus), that means at least fifty-five or sixty stages (probably). As there are only ten characters on the site, and four stages, that means thirty characters+at least 51 stages. That makes eighty-one updates --and that's just characters and stages.

Wait, screw that--I'm not thinking. Of course Sakurai won't give anything secret away. Doh!
Ignore that last paragraph, please.

Ya, I just kinda rounded it off to 45 as a bare minimum of what they'll show of what we know from the trailers and patterns and such. With the countless amount stuff we simply don't know, it could take awhile depending on how much they moderate it.

I would say it's a pretty good update. It gives us an idea how the Wii-mote will play out.

No... I still think the worst update ever was either "Banana Peel" or "You must recover!"
:chuckle: Oh! Banana Peel make you slip fall down! Bwahahaha! (a bit late for 1st grade humor Sakurai)
 No!? You can jump? In mid-air too!? Wow! Since when was this possible!? Oh right, the beginning.

At max I see two, maybe three stages per game series. Since there are several characters from the same series, (eg; the pokemon, people from Zelda, and of course, people from the Mario universe) You're way over estimating how many stages there'll be.

Well, that's true. I'm just glad you can change your controller settings.

And you're right--"You must recover!" is pretty d*mn lame. I don't think the B. peel deserved an update, but it'll be fun to use. :p

Well, that's also not accounting for past stages, which I still count as stages even though they've been used before, and special stages. But you're right; that is way too many.

Hey, I hope it does end up having that many. It would mean a lot more variation, and a lot more stages would be accessible in tourneys. And you're right, I forgot about Past stages. Hopefully each series will get at least two new fresh stages, and Sakurai will bring in several past stages as well. The more the better, hands down.
