[Official SSB4 Discussion] --- Nintendo announces 2 new Smash games!

What does everyone think about the Final Smash system? I didn't like it, but I guess it's ok for the lulz. Do you think it should be added in SSB4?

I can't see Tingle or Hammer bro as a playable character, but I can see everyone else you mentioned.​

Hammer Bro has the potential to work, but there is one tiny problem.

There are Mario characters that have higher priority than he does (namely, Bowser Jr.). Waluigi would have a higher priority than him (even though he only showed up in spinoffs). Even Geno would have a higher priority than Hammer Bros, and he's only had a role in one game (which is available on the VC), as well as a cameo in another one.

If Hammer Bros has a chance, then I probably won't expect him to become part of a roster until the...10th entry of Smash, or so (if it can get that far, anyway).

I'm sorry, but that's the way the ocean flows.

I can see everyone on that list of yours work, though.

It doesn't take much for anything to become a debate around here, so I can forgive that.

Seriously, Hammer Bro now? He COULD work, but the fact is, it WON'T happen. He isn't even a possiibility for a new Mario character, don' get your hopes up and expect him to be in just because he is an Assist Trophy, because he won't be.

Like KirbyWorshipper said, he doesn't have enough potential as TONS of other Mario characters, there are many that are more deserving and more important to Mario itself. Expect these characters before Hammer Bro (in no particular order):

-Bowser Jr.
-Toad
-Paper Mario
-Rosalina
-Waluigi
-Daisy
-Koopa
-Birdo
-Dr. Mario
-many others I couldn't think of

To change the subject, I heard on Mario Wiki (or was it on Smash Wiki?) that the animal sounds that Bowser, Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong have in Brawl, were actually done by voice actors!

Is this true? This seems implausible, somewhat.

Also, since Marth finally appeared in a Fire Emblem game in the US, could this mean that he will get an english voice actor (not that there's anything wrong with his Japanese one, of course)?

What does everyone think about the Final Smash system? I didn't like it, but I guess it's ok for the lulz. Do you think it should be added in SSB4?​

I expect the FS system to return, yes. It obviously won't be discarded, since it's a new feature. I do like the system, though.

Speaking of which, I believe that SSB4 may get some new features (implied by the fact that Sakurai doesn't want to simply add characters to the roster, to justify a Smash sequel).

they need HP. It makes it a good hazard to put out a wild fire by your self. There were a few pokemon in melee that could get whacked off stage. But fighting ATs sound fun.

i would like if you had a special meter like in traditional fighting games. But i would like 2 types of FS.

1. special smash- obtained by special meter (meter builds every time you're hit with a B attack, or land a B attack, capable of saving 3 SS)
Not too powerful, just a MORE than half *ssed FS.

Example. Charizard using a special smash would not bring out a triple finish. He'd just use 1 Fire Blast with the potential knockback of a smash attack (but works like a projectile). Bowser would do something similar. He'll fire out a fire ball like in SMB1 w/potential knockback of a bombomb.
But other SS would work by just dealing alot of damage. Toon Link would just use his spin attack like a maniac like in late windwaker.

2. Final smash- The final smashes that we know today (obtained by smash ball)

Personally, I'd prefer to see the Final Smash become a move that's used when the meter is maxed out. I mean, for some, it might be difficult to come up with some stuff. Of course, for competitive play, these would have to be balanced.

I prefer to keep Street Fighter and Smash separate entities, but here's an idea for some attacks for this new Final Smash idea based on Street Fighter's Ultra attacks.

Of course, since Smash does not use the HP rule in battle, this would be done differently. I'm thinking that the attack has a similar animation, but no knockback.

I'd prefer seeing Ike's Radiant Dawn look. It would suit his "Heavyweight fighter" class better.

Ohhhhh, So to balance Sonic's brokeness, the FS would be predetermined like C.Falcon's, but still **** worthy.
The maxed out meter idea is sick too.
3 check points on the FS meter. Every B-Special that misses would use up the meter. This "BS meter" is like PP or SP in rpgs. This might bring PP/SP/HP healing items in SSB4 or possibly Mewtwo returning with his PP draining Pressure ability.
As for the checkpoints on the meter-
Example;
Charizard's 'B-Special smashes'
Fire blast -> Blast burn -> !Triple finish!
Fire blast uses up 1 checkpoint.
Blast burn would use 2 checkpoints.
Triple finish needs full gauge.
Using any of them needs strategic thinking.

an Assist trophy that calls out an Arwing raid or a smart bomb should be andross's remedy.

Dr Mario would let it rain pills from the sky.
Roy would be kinda like marth's but does a full dancing blade then explodes with huge splash damage.
Mewtwo would be like Lucario's, But purple & as fat as a Zero Laser thats harder to control (But explosions/splash damage on the ground)
No one cares about Pichu.

I do hope that the whole "Mother 3" issue gets resolved by the time that SSB4 comes out. I'm certain that there have been quite a few puzzled newer gamers that wondered why Nintendo didn't bring it over yet.

However, since that it depends on Earthbound's success on the VC and that the latter is going through copyright issues, this is getting rather doubtful.

At least Lucas' legacy will live on through Smash, much like Ness...:smoke:

A similar thing happened when Roy showed up in Melee, as his game wasn't even released yet. The ironic thing is that the game starring his dad ended up being brought over.

At any rate, there is hope for a release of the Mother trilogy on DS and a new sequel, as this snippet from Wikipedia's (such as it is) Mother 3 entry shows:

Electronic Gaming Monthly's rumor section mentioned a compilation of Mother, Mother 2, and Mother 3 titled Mother Compilation would be made for the Nintendo DS, possibly with an international release. However, nothing has come of this. More recently, Brownie Brown, its developer, stated that if asked by Nintendo, they would work on a DS remake. According to Itoi, there are no plans to create a fourth Mother game, but he has not completely dismissed the idea.

Whether either one gets brought over here (if they get made) will remain a mystery...
