Hey, whoa whoa, hey! Calm down! Some people, like me, just wanted to play as him, don't attack all the people who want him in. Good grief...
aite...so i may have come off a little too harsh...but seriously...i can understand wanting of characters in...but pokemon??? wouldn't you rather get more actual characters like roy, marth, yoshi, etc...rather than some obscure unpronounceable monsters...from games that are meant for 10 year olds? How many people play pikachu/pichu/mewtwo in melee? like...50 lol?

I'm not a Deoxys fan at all. I was very glad to see that he was an item. 4-5 Pokemon sounds right and is fine, but that realistically adds two more. Pichu's replacement and another newcomer. I really would like to see another first gen. Poke because the newer ones are kinda...eghh...

I'd like a grass and/or water type. I am glad that Deoxys isn't gonna be there. Seems to be a waste of a spot to me.

His name is dumb...strike one.
He looks dumb...strike two.
We already have a better psychic poke in M2...strike three...AT it is.

LOL right on....

4-5 pokemon...dunno...jiggly is prolly returning + pikachu...maybe 1 or two more...actually, as long as they have like...45-infinity other characters....they can include all the pokemon for all i care...first gen only though. After that, the names and the pokemon got ********. I mean come on...they're not even made up now...in Diamond/Pearl you start with a ****ing grass turtle, fire chimp and a water penguin....they're not even trying to be original now lol

I agree that people will buy the game regardless of characters...but those who are disappointed by a loss of a Pokemon as a PC? Grow Up
A Pokemon...not playable OH NOEZ...WUT R WE GOIN 2 DOOO....Nintendo needs to realize that it's main market for this game...isn't 10 year olds who still ****ing play Pokemon. 80% of players couldn't care less about having one more of those gay little things in the game, especially if it meant less space for actual characters, like Ridley or Mario. How many people do you know who play Pokemon (if it's more than like...1, you need to get some new friends)...Jigglypuff...ok, great character in Melee, chances are it will return. Another Pokemon? Who cares? They need to focus less on items (because they will not be used nearly as often as Nintendo imagines) and more on the actual gameplay. Too much catering towards the average player, and not enough to satisfy the core gamer. I mean seriously, NO self respecting gamer is going to even consider buying Wii Fit.
You are incredibly delusional about Pokemon's popularity and the majority of the Smash fanbase.

Well, I just though Deoxys was cool in the movie, and I can picture him being awesome. Well, my second most wanted pokemon representative would be Lucario.

OH, and teh pr0, the vast majority of pokemon players are younger kids, so I understand how you probably know no one who would touch them.

maybe it's popular with your circle of friends...in the case of anyone i know...they would have NO friends if they played pokemon...it's an age thing perhaps
http://www.4colorrebellion.com/archives/2006/09/28/pokemon-diamond-pearl-break-sales-records/

Your right, HTH's circle of friends must include the millions of people who bought the new Pokemon. Congrats on being an idiot. When you try to argue, please don't spout opinionated nonsense that has no real baring on the matter.

the fact that nintendo caters to a younger audience is disappointing...it's true that a lot of younger kids play pokemon...i still don't know why...but whatever. The average gamer is actually in their 20s, so maybe Nintendo should start considering bringing out more M and T rated games rather than Spongebob and Barbie games.

@teh pr0: Pokemon is actually one of the big three of Nintendo. The big three are the three best selling franchises (Mario, Legend of Zelda, and Pokemon). Pokemon has only been around for half as long as Mario has been and they have almost gained the same amount of profit as Mario has. So really, Pokemon is an extremely popular series.

I actually don't play it though because I really can't get into it, but I don't deny facts. I'd rather play Mario and Metroid. Oh, and I play video games all the time and I have several friends so you tell me where they have found proof that playing games of any kind decreases the amount of friends or girls you can hang out with.

It is true that Pokemon has a younger average audience than the other franchises. But I have no idea what that has to do with anything.

Did no one watch the Nintendo press conference last week?? They are catering to people in their 40's, 50's and 60's. I'd say that's well above the average pre-teen age.

And Mature ratings are overrated (no pun intended). Nintendo has always been about gameplay and quality. I don't need to see sex and blood and gore on my video game for me to enjoy it. "Teen" ratings are almost inevitable anymore, as even Melee got a "T," but there is NO reason we need to start having a surplus of "M" games.

Do know what the best/most memorable games are? They are all about gameplay. They are NOT mature games. They are games like Super Metroid, Mario 64, Super Mario Bros., Ocarina of Time, A Link to the Past, Super Mario 3, etc. etc. Those are the games that everyone loves. Indeed, those are the types of games that make Smash possible. So, we definitely do not need Nintendo taking the cheap route like Microsoft. Nintendo is classy, and they make quality stuff.

You have to consider that Nintendo has been dominating the next gen war as of now. Wii sales and DS sales are ridiculous yet they don't target the average aged gamer. Know why it works? Making games that are M and T rated limit their targeted audience to a certain group.

Now I know you are saying that making games geared toward chidren narrows their scope as well, but not as much. You'll still have people who played pokemon when they were young want to buy the new game and revisit it.

Also your argument about social status is getting a little bland. I've played childish nintendo games around girls back when I went to college. You can go ahead and retract your statement :)

To be honest though, you're just being judgmental about the whole thing. What do you care if someone plays different games than you and why do you feel that Nintendo should change their effective marketing just to cater to it? Sure, I'm not a big fan of the majority of the games, but you have to respect their results.

well, when you get to college, let me know how many girls hang out with you while you play pokemon...i'll take back what i said then
QFT lol heck i stopped playing pokemon when i was like...... 8. and i started playing better stuff like legend of zelda and metroid. however, putting pokemon on brawl and making them more fun and involved and better than "ZOMG i press the a button to use thunderbolt and pwnzors you lolz" is a good way to go. blaziken and lucario ftw.

if they make them actually good characters...then its cool. Honestly though, it's safe to argue that the amount of time you spend on playing video games has an inverse relationship with the amount of time you have a social life.

@Rohins...just for you...I retract my statement...because you can make an intelligent argument, and I respect that

I surely respect Nintendo's ability to market to everyone, but I am starting to feel as if they're forgetting the core gamer a little. With Wii Fit being the spotlight of E3...that's just very disappointing. Don't get me wrong, I like games like mario and zelda...but I like them for sometimes being difficult and requiring SKILL. I also like my share of Halo and Gears of War though, so some Mature games are rather good (and they definiitely market to the adult crowd). I'm not saying Nintendo should change its strategy of involving new gamers, but it would be nice if they remembered that some people want a challenge from their games, and not being like...ZOMG, i push t3h butt0n, ev3ryone loz3.

...like I said...when you get to college and if you can repeat that...(the girls part, you can have plenty of guy friends)...then i'll retract my statement for you man. You want proof that girls won't hang out with you? When you'll be alone in your dorm on a friday night playing the latest release of Pokemon Purple, you'll see lol

agreed. video games are awesome, just as long as you remember that there is more to life than that. i mean, you can play video games as such, but its also important to actually get out of the house and do something. and yes, i like to expand on video games across through all of the big three. M games rock, T games rock. games with a challenge rock. games with just a button press, no skill, and boring=phail

I don't play pokemon though and even if I did, you're under the impression that everyone that plays video games does it nonstop to the point where they don't have a social life. Every girl I talk to, I'm real with. I don't care what they think of me and they don't care about what I do anyway. I make sexual jokes and slurs around them all the time and they can care less. That's true friendship right there.

You can keep the guys that just want you to drink so they can completely screw you over by doing some weird a** s*** to you or the girls that only hang with you until they find a miniscule problem like playing video games or hanging out with "nerds" or whatever.

And don't get me wrong, I hang out with several jocks and stuck-up chicks but I know they won't ditch me. I guess I just don't like it when people shoot their mouth off and act like everthing in life works one way; nerds don't get laid, jocks are stupid but cool, hot chicks always go for the good looking guy, or whatever, because that's not how my school works at all.

*sigh* I'll say this again...

Why would Nintendo use their press conference time marketing games to people who are going to buy them anyway, when they could spend it showcasing new games and marketing to brand-new customers?

WE are going to buy their games no matter what. Trailers and press time on our anticipated games are just icing on the cake. Whereas, games like Wiifit and whatnot...those are brand-new markets. They are showcasing that so they can appeal to people who having bought in yet. It would be pointless to waste that time on us. Just think about it.

Most people around here don't understand how businesses and marketing work.

On a side note, why are people complaining about WiiFit and that it's not a "normal" game, and then in the next breath saying that people need to get off the couch, stop playing video games, and get out of the house. Don't you see the irony there??

looks like we share the same philosophy. my school is the same way. i mean, everyone i know of in my school(and thats alot of people btw) wont judge people on looks or lifestyle. if i have to lie to get someone to like me, then its sad, really. but i dont. im straight up, and it works, i mean ill admit im a bit on the chubby side, but noone cares really and it doesnt really affect my social life at all. i can hang out with some friends, play video games with some friends, talk about stuff with some friends, its all good. i have true friends, and i dont have to be the best-looking dude, or whatever to get along.
and btw teh pro. i have friends outside of high school i do have friends who are in college and know how it works. its not completely different from high school.

@ The Grim Lizard....agreed, but originally e3 was supposed to be for gamers. I understand Nintendo's need to expand its market, and that's what Wii Fit for. HOWEVER...they could have done a little more to show people who already own a Wii that awesome stuff (aka Brawl is coming soon) and show more pictures or video of it. That's just my opinion, no point in arguing about this.

@Uncle Kenny

Not saying you play games all the time. Also...making sexual jokes and slurs...isn't really the definition of friends. You think those people will be there for you always...perhaps. However, when you go to college you will realize that there are other people to meet, and you just won't have the same interests as you do now. Just my 2 cents...it's great that you have friends right now...i'm sure you'll have plenty in college...but just don't try to argue that playing video games decreases your social life.

I don't have to pretend to be someone I'm not. It's just that you should do everything in moderation...i'm on a school sports team, i play games...i have other social aspects....and even if you think that people don't judge you based on how you look...it's a lie...everyone judges, some just don't admit to it.

Anyway...this isn't going anywhere, back on topic

Yeah, people that play video games obsessively are going to have trouble with their social life. I'll give you that. But it almost sounds like you're saying EVERYONE that plays video games are going to have a rough social life. I just don't buy that.

Are you having problems with your social life? I'm going to guess that you don't. You have to realize that a majority of people aren't obsessed with video games and play casually. Hell, my UNCLE likes Spongebob and EVERYONE I know thinks he's awesome, including adults. His social life is hardly crippled just because he has different taste in a certain area.

"Oh, that guy is awesome, I'd love to hang with him. Wait, he likes pokemon, forget him."

I don't buy this. Now the point I would buy is.

"He does nothing but play pokemon at all periods of the day and talks about it constantly."

Yeah, that works. I can understand that. But difference in opinion in a miniscule area isn't going to greatly impact your social life unless that difference in opinion is practically how you live overall.

the way everyone's flying (from hyperbeam) makes it seem a little too powerful...either that or everyone is at high percentage already

@Uncle Kenny...agreed
No Debate Hall, this is more or less an arguement viewing each others point of view on Deoxys. And school.

Now me, I think Deoxy's would of been original as a character, but no real point in him. My secondary is Pichu, and if he gets the cut, I won't mind so much. I want Lucario, Sonic, and Baby Bowser, in Brawl. I don't care who else he puts in.

That's what game sites are for. (such as, I dunno, smashbros.com, mayhaps??)

@ Sariku.Uchiha...that's an odd request list for your "most wanted." For me, I have (I think) a little more realistic list: Ridley, Olimar, and Stafy (not putting a TON of hope into that one)

how is olimar more realistic than sonic? or lucario? they are way more likely than freakin olimar. granted, i dont know what bowser jr.'s real chances are, but sonic and lucario are very good candidates and would have alot more going for them than...... olimar.

No Grims Right. Olimar would be kick butt, and does have a better chance than Lucario. Lucario is like Pichu, loved by Alot, but isn't famous. Or godly, like Pikachu or Mewtwo is considered. But I think if Pichu can get it, so can Lucario.

He can't do that much, not that I see. But after playing Wario Ware, what all can Wario do? Not much, not till Sakurai steps up to the plate.

Ridley, King DeDeDe, Captain Falcon (a MUST), Diddy Kong, Sonic would be sweet...baby bowser too...and yea...Paper Mario
Ridley = Maybe. Seems big, but it could work.
DeDeDe = My review was unfair, but as I said, I don't see much he can do with only a hammer and Kirby's abilities. He's popular, yes, but that doesn't' mean he'll get in.
Falcon = We already have his Logo...
Diddy = I say yes, we need more DK Characters.
Sonic = Of course he will. Unless Sega is greedy.
Baby Bowser = I can just see his PaintBrush now... just no Shadow Mario.
Paper Mario = Can't we just have one Mario?
