It's cool.

Everyone thought i was a woman too.

I wasn't always Papa Mink.
Avatars do a lot to people's perceptions of you. Thus why I barely contained my surprise when I first met Shaya. Hmm... best not to tell him that. Shh! :p

Similarly, when your avatar was that dog with the eyeglass (he seems familiar somehow), I doubt anyone would have gotten confused.

I did like the wording of his quotes, though. "To you, it must have been the most important day of your life. But to me.....it was just a Tuesday." *shivers* The madman god quote too. However, I LOVE the voice and quotes he has in SFIV. So much uncaring bad-*** right there.

ZSS' dsmash is -4 on shield, 0 when charged
I know goggles was just throwing it out as an example, I just think it's good to know the actual numbers cause if you do, you know that
-Nobody can shieldgrab it (at least, not a guaranteed one)
-I don't think anybody has a grounded upB with a hitbox comes out in 3 frames or less...so you can't upB OoS
-You can't shield drop-->anything cause shield drop is 7 frames

Best hope is to predict what she does AFTERWARDS and punish. eg Dsmash --> jab1 cause jab1 comes out on frame 1, so it'll beat out a frame 6 shieldgrab by 1 frame. If you shield the jab1 however, ZSS is at a disadvantage.
That or you can attempt PS --> move that comes out in 6 frames or less, but that's risky.

what about shield and roll away? is it possible to do that?

What'd you think Shaya would look like?

Are people that big of dunderheads where they think girls/anime girls in an avatar=girls or a normal looking guy?

Guess I shouldn't be surprised since some dolt thought Ankoku (Aisight) was a girl.

I've never seen the person in real life. What's wrong with assuming she's female? I'm assuming that females don't say something strange that differentiates them from males. With absolutely no background info whatsoever, I see no problem with making an assumption based off the username/avatar and then politely being told otherwise. It's not like I was asking him "A/S/L" or something. I'm very aware you're being inflammatory on purpose, but that you should call me a dolt just for something as minor as that...

About 99% of the smash community is male. Barely any female smashers participate in any sorta debate. The only girls I can even think of with more then 1000 posts are Nicole and KassandraNova.

Being purposely oblivious is not an excuse.

KayLo's another one that comes to mind, and Yink some time ago. :applejack:

So that's...4 out of 123,453?

I'm sure there are more girls on this site then that obviously, but I can't think of more then your number in terms of having more then 1000 posts. And I can't think of 1 that currently debates anything smash related. Females post in social threads if they post at all. Or they just to say "I'm going" to a tournament in tourney threads.

You could just...do the logical thing and not make any assumptions.

Woah, woah, woah, how do you want me to do that? All I said was:
Aisight, but I guess her name is "Ankoku"...
What should I have said? I guess "its" name is "Ankoku"? And even so, is it really that major that you guys have to be making a big deal about it? :glare:

This is just inaccurate. I can personally tell you that there are females who talk about serious competitive metagame info on SWF. I see them on some character boards I frequent all the time.

I still wonder why the gender ratio is so unbalanced. Gaming culture is still pretty man-dominated. Look at how often we say "****" even in this scene.

Maybe Smash 4 will bring in the babes.

Unless you actually mean to cause offence, there really isn't... The word's meaning has evolved.

Sure, it can stir up bad memories, but as cold as it is... that's more the victim's problem than everyone else... Are they also going to complain when they hear the word on the news, etc...?

I have an ex-girlfriend who was ***** as a child, and after I was told I was happy to avoid saying it in front of her as a personal respect thing - but just as I am fine with 'gay' being used as a derogatory term, while many gays aren't, I'm sure there are victims out there who honestly don't mind.

It's all very subjective though, of course, and depends on how far we should go to cater for people's triggers (for example, I doubt anyone would suggest avoiding the word 'Disney Land' because a few people have been ***** or assaulted there).

#2 cents
#still more interesting than BBR Tier List

It isn't about the people who don't mind, though--It's about looking out for those who do mind. It's not cool to trivialize it.

Yeah.

Like I said, you can't look out for everyone, gotta draw the line somewhere or we won't be allowed to do anything out of fear of hurting someone's feelings.

I personally find it hard to sympathize with people who are offended by the mention of ****. but that's just the way I've been brought up; sticks and stones, etc... I can still put myself in the shoes of at least the sympathizers, but I can't really do the same for victims - I think I'd just shrug it off if I were in the same position.

And I wouldn't call it trivialization; when people say **** while gaming they aren't talking about forced sexual intercourse, even though the term might have started from that. Two different concepts, and only one is being 'trivialized'. You're not going to see people going around supporting sex offenders just because the word '****' is used more commonly.
