NYC Brawl+ Community Combo Video

I don't wanna reiterate myself so I'll just copy and paste from the description I wrote on YT.


[Finally finished]
So after 70+ hours of watching videos, editing, testing renders, having renders FAIL on me, having Vegas randomly close on me (I love Windows 7...), prioritizing clips, holding smashfests, cleaning up pizza boxes, messing with character textures and inviting key players to come to my fests I'm finally done. For those of you who have me on AIM, every time you saw me with the away "exploding my computerz" I was working on this. This took FOREVER and it's probably the longest time I've spent on a project...ever. I had hours of footage from multiple smashfests that I had to review each night. About 30 gigs of videos!!! Not kidding. I was often staying up many late nights, breaking night completely and going to classes the next day without any sleep. Zombie mode ftw!!!

[So what about the vid?]
Well it features some of the best NYC players. A few of them were left out (too bad) but it's because they could never make it to my smashfests for some reason or another. I'm looking at you Bum and Basic Sasuage!! RAWR. You guys should have been in the vid but whatever. I tried to get a good majority of the Brawl cast involved but there was no way I was getting footage of all of Brawl's characters in here with Youtube's stupid 10 minute time limit not to mention some characters are plain boring in combo videos. *cough* Yoshi. Anyway, by the time the 2nd smashfest was done I could have made two combo videos lol so It was really hard to deal with adding new people/characters in when the video was already 70% don although I did have to restructure the whole dam thing a lot of the time but it usually ended up looking better than what I had previously.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Squirtle and Mewcario are the ****. I also liked the Ike costumes where he didn't have a cape and Shadow as Sonic.

0_o at the last clip.. D1 teching like Azen in that one melee match vs Ken.

I liked the video, all other Brawl + combo videos are all like 4 minutes maximum.. this one was crazy

not really impressed, like you make a big deal over how BRAWL + HAZ MOAR COMBOZ but 90% of this stuff i have seen in a normal brawl video :/ Guess i expected more because brawl + players make a big deal of it V_V

anyways where can i find that orange olimar texture, been looking for it

...I seriously doubt half of these things you've seen in a Normal Brawl combo video considering that OVER half of these things arent legit in normal Brawl. .___.

just because there not 'legit' does not mean people don't put them in there combo videos almost all brawl video are kinda 1 time things. I'm not here to to start a brawl vs brawl + flame war (its still going to happen because there is always going some idiot who must stroke there e-****)

All i'm saying is, if your going to mod a game the least you can do is make it better, I have seen normal brawl videos better then this one, while this one was good it needs to be stepped up . I don't think brawl+ players tapped the full potential.

Zori, no offense, but you can't do any of this stuff in normal Brawl (physically impossible without air momentum, ALR, etc). Take the advice of a fellow prolimar on this one, don't judge it till you play it.

well, at the start most people don't know how to DI well at all as Brawl holds your hand with DI'ing. Its much more critical to learning how to avoid combos. After you play a bit, the level of combo intensity drops dramatically due to proper DI.

Silven, you're right about me sucking for not giving Brawl + a shot. I can see why you got so into it. Higher paced, more aggression, etc. The opposite of plain brawl. I'll be sure to IM you for the files (when I get back on a working comp).

It's ok, but there's a lot of either meh or filler combos. You could easily filter out a bunch of the junk and have a stellar combo video on your hands... but I understand that you were trying to feature everyone so whatever works :p

If you think those are possible vs. "good" players in regular Brawl then you must not be good. Anyone who has an IQ over 10 will airdodge out of most of the stuff I featured in that video. Also if you're saying you've seen much better combos than that in regular Brawl then you must have not seen the whole vid. For the most part, regular Brawl combos are more like consecutive hits based on reading/techchasing and a little edgeguarding at the end of the clip. If you look at my Ike combo video, and compare it to what I was doing with Ike in the Brawl+ video you'll see a huge different in the flow of the "consecutive" hits. Either way, the fact of the matter is, in Brawl those aren't true combos. I'm not trying to knock your credibility or anything but I think our definitions of "combo" is a little different... If not that then I think you'r'e still hung up over the fact that Brawl+ is a mod, rather than a straight from the developer type of thing. If that is the case then all I'll say to you is get over it. Plenty of mods have made it to tournament status. Dota (Warcraft 3 mod) and Counter Strike (Half Life mod) just to name two. Oh and keep in mind Team Fortress started as a Quake mod and turned into a full game because it was just that good. Oh and I have to mention this. You said " I don't think brawl+ players tapped the full potential." you're so right. A lot of those combos were from our first day with the game rofl. Get at NYC!!! There will be a lot more beastly combos in the future of course but to be honest I've only been playing for the last 2-3 weeks. It's almost like a new game to me.

To everyone else, thanks a lot for the comments and the positive reactions. It's always good to get feedback after much hardwork especially considering I missed so many hours of sleep and sacrificed a lot to make this in such a short timeframe. It kinda makes it worth it lol.

Thank you for the ZSS combos! That's what I wanted from the start man, I knew she had combo ability and I knew you could unlock some of that potential with her!!

i really like the video. it makes me view brawl in a completely different light. not to mention it just tells everyone to GET AT US!

But yeah, this game is still fresh, and peeps still need more time to refine their game. Also, the game is constantly changing, so some players may have to "re-learn" their character after progressing relatively far into said character's older metagame... so yeah.

Nobody's really pro yet, but NYC is getting there. :-)

I wasn't really hinting at another vid, I would be crazy to do that since I know I would have to kill my life for another 2-3 weeks. Too much to handle right now, I'm on the verge of failing a class so yeah back to my life for the rest of this year. If I do make another one it will be wayyyy far into the future for anyone to care/remember.

I won't be going to Apex for a few reasons - one of them being work...but yeah it's mainly regular Brawl. It seems like most of the Brawl+ community will be at the PA tournament "Beyond the Limit" so if you wanna play there it's a lot more likely you'll see the people in the vid with the exception of Starzonedge since he doesn't travel out of state anymore for some reason *_*

There is a Brawl+ tournament at night at Apex just an FYI.

But yeah, us RI'ers will be at Chibo's and not APEX as its during the middle of our finals.

Watched it all. I'm still not convinced that Brawl+ is more fun than regular Brawl, though.

Some of the textures are bloody awesome, I'll give you that.
