JPW: Yeah probs not a good idea to come into a thread and say "Who the hell are you" to a long-standing member of our community. Could be taken in a very negative way, which is, I'm sure, the way everyone took it. You don't want to get Dre'd. Luckily we've actually met you, so I don't think EA's going to freak the **** out about it which means you don't have to worry. Just sayin'. Would be great to have you come along to some stuff though. I remember you being not terrible at the game lol.

Aero: Just because you're a mod doesn't mean you can come in and tell people not to feel offended by these new guys who storm in acting like they can say or do anything without pissing someone off. It's frustrating enough having people do that stuff without you coming in trying to tell us how to feel about it. Please refrain from defending people who are offending anyone in our extremely close and tight knit scene. I'm all for new people coming and being treated fairly, but while this is a forum, many of us are very close long time friends and just as you can't walk into a group of people acting like it's your right to be there irl, you can't do it to the community that we've all worked so hard to build here either.

I mean sure, it's the internet, say what you want. But if you actually want to be part of a community, which this IS, you need to be respectful to the people who are already in it and watch what you say, or you may annoy someone and tarnish your chances of being accepted as a decent person forever.

In short, this is more than a gaming forum. Don't like it? GTFO.

I'm sorry, i can't believe you took me seriously. Actually i'm honoured. Even Aero's doesn't take me seriously. The other day he was paying me out about bad Garmmer.

Then again it could be bad judgment on my part. You guys barely know me then if you think i was being insulting.
That "who the hell are you". was more of a joke than anything. If anyone took offence to it, then i'm sorry. It was not my intention. I was just having fun.
If anything, it was supposed to be taken like when The Rock does it. It's a catchphrase. It's not an insult.

I totally understand where you're coming from Ted. I'm part of my own community. And i would stick up for any one of them. And i expect the same from them. Though lately i'm pretty much the but of their jokes. And i get upset all the same. They called me JigglyPuff for two weeks. Because of JP. Can you believe that?
But I wasn't trying to be disrespectful in any way possible shape or form. If i offended any of you, then i'm sorry that was not my first idea of an impression.

I'm a very nice guy, with a few quirks here and there. If the quirkiness, wittiness is going to be a problem with you guys. Then i guess i'll see my way out. I'm not going to change. I can try to be careful, i'll try to control myself. Bit I wont make any big promises. Because i can't guarantee, i'm going to say things that are some times out of line. It'll never have anything to do with you guys. Try not to take it seriously is all i can say.

Now that i know who the person is and i remember them. I will not think any less of that person.

All I was saying to you was that what you said might be (and was) taken in a negative way. Hence the "first impression" comments by people who have never actually met you but know the community well enough to know what kinds of reactions may ensue.

In my post, the only thing I relate directly to you, JP, is in the paragraph immediately after your name. Same for Aero. The rest is a general statement directed at anyone who doesn't know exactly where I stand on these matters.


Come to a tourney or a meet, meet everyone, and I'm sure everyone will be very welcoming and you'll have a great time. :D

quirkiness is acceptable and hell, even encouraged. the only problem is when people haven't gotten to know you and thus don't understand what you mean sometimes, which means you can come off as rude or something unintentionally.

also, I wasn't offended, i thought it was a bit rude but I was like "I know he's better in person" so I just brushed it off. now I know it was meant as a joke it's all cool.

Your status as a moderator isn't the issue. The fact that you, someone I nor, as far as I know, anyone else in the Sydney community is close to, is coming in trying to vouch for people trying to join out scene is ridiculous. We have someone we don't know telling us that other people we don't know are "cool guys".
