So yeah, played some GoldenEye, it's pretty trashtacular. And by pretty I mean extremely.
I've always wondered...
as Young Link, was it possible to walk back through the desert if you had the "correct pathing"? I assume they just always made it impossible but it would have been so wikkid (I remember trying soooooo hard to do it).
I'm 99% certain it's possible, yes. I mean, I haven't literally seen it done, but: a) you can do the desert without the Lens, and b) you can do the desert the normal direction as child (lol glitching into/through the fortress from hyrule field).
Also, the way maps in OOT work is that every individual polygon has flags on it that say stuff like, whether stepping on the polygon sends you to another map, whether stepping on the polygon gives you damage, whether it makes you slide in a direction, etc etc. I'd imagine the desert just has a set of "safe polygons" that is the path through, and a bunch of unsafe ones that send you back to the start. And I doubt they'd have set up something special to make reverse-pathing the desert impossible, considering how a lot of the rest of the game works (eg, you only need to finish spirit+shadow to get light arrows and confront ganon, the game just assumes you have all medallions if you have those two).
tl;dr nintendo are lazy, severely doubt they'd make a special case just to stop you doing that.
Anyway, meet tomorrow, yeah yeah.
