As far as base game DLC characters go, Ryu Hayabusa, Bomberman, Arale, and Marco Rossi seem to be in a good spot.

All four come from large franchises, have a ton of legacy behind them, and are accessible by virtue of being owned by Japanese companies that work with Nintendo. I think Ryu has the best chances due to being so popular during the Fighter's Pass era, but Bomberman actually getting an acknowledgement as an assist trophy and DLC Mii Costume suggests that Sakurai really respects the character.

Arle is a underrated base game pick.

I was really confused who you meant here for a second because Googling gave me an Austrian hockey player who also happens to have the exact same name, but now I understand that you meant Metal Slug Marco lmao

Is there any final smashes that you guys expect to be different or be altered in Smash 6?
Samus: Zero Laser could be the Hyper Beam with the Metroid Suit if she gets a new suit from Dread.
Pit: He has changed his final smash for each smash game since brawl. Either the Great Sacred Treasure itself or the Great Sacred Treasure Gun.
Peach: maybe something from Showtime. If not, sleeping final smash might stay.

Just posted a thread on BlueSky about stage form options that the next Smash could implement. To be specific:
  • Δ Form (Battlefield’s triangle platforms)
  • β Form (Small Battlefield / hazards-off Pokémon Stadium 2’s double platforms)
  • α Form (Smashville’s moving platform)
  • Ω Form (Final Destination’s clean layout)
The idea here was to allow for more visual variety in competitive play while also providing them with competitive-friendly layouts. Of course, the normal stages would still be there for casual play.

These are weird because they act like your typical cutscene Final Smash until they actually do their main attack where it's back to normal gameplay.

You're more interested in the attacker's influence on the attack rather than the defender, so they still fit here, but it is an interesting oddity to note.

The fact that this includes all but one of the Fighter's Pass characters is...kind of sad.
Not if you think cutscene FSs are the best kind.

Which I do.

Peach and Daisy's have got to go. Not only are they OP as hell, but they're in direct conflict with the "quickly get back to the action" philosophy.

Hopefully Zelda's as well.

  • β Form (Small Battlefield / hazards-off Pokémon Stadium 2’s double platforms)
  • α Form (Smashville’s moving platform)
  • Ω Form (Final Destination’s clean layout)
  • α Form (Standard stage layout)
  • β Form (Standard stage layout, no hazards)
  • γ Form (Battlefield layout)
  • Δ Form (Small Battlefield layout)
  • Ω Form (Final Destination layout)

Speaking of Mii costumes--
It wasn't really something that crossed my mind too much until I made a little fun Mii costume challenge. Basically, the idea behind it was coming to the realization that in Smash 4... Chrom, Daisy, Inkling, Isabelle, and King K. Rool became Ultimate newcomers from previously being mii costume hats/sets, assist trophies, and/or based on alternate palettes. I also reminded myself that Charizard was once a pokeball summon––but then again, Charizard is one of the most beloved Pokémon of all-time, so that's not too shocking.

As a result, Bomberman became more probable of a fighter inclusion in my mind than I had thought after making these infographics. Bomberman got a great mii costume set render––like you think you're actually playing Bomberman––until you press buttons as Mii Brawler. Having multiple colored palettes based on your Mii's favorite color too??? Such effort.. it's almost scary. Ya might as well just slap the guy on the character select screen at this rate. Anyways, what do y'all think of these?

I can definitely get behind the idea that at least a few of the Mii costumes are likely to become actual characters in the next game, whenever that may be.
I'd need to go through the list again, but I could probably glean a few potentials from there.

Kinda crazy when you think about it that in hindsight, the K Rool Mii costume was practically a teaser for the next game. The fact it looked the way it did sparked so much discussion to where you could probably charitably assume they built it using the K Rool assets they had for Ultimate, since they started working on that immediately afterwards, right?

I mean they started working on Ultimate immediately after, but the project plan for Ultimate wasn't finished until December 2015 and wouldn't start development itself until February 2016, while the K. Rool Mii Costume was part of the batch released in July 2015.

It was probably made in response to K. Rool's Ballot performance (which at that point was three months in and likely had the majority of its votes already), which also contributed to his playable status in Ultimate, but it couldn't have been made from K. Rool's Ultimate assets yet.

If we're talking Mii costumes, I NEED the next Smash to be the one where Ashley finally makes the jump after two games as a Mii costume.
Ashley would be one of my picks for Mii costume upgrades along with Shantae, Sans, and Monster Hunter. I think Sans is most popular out of those though.

I was too lazy to make a "Has an intro cutscene but the Final Smash happens in normal gameplay" tier and ultimately, it would still give no agency so I figured I could get away with them just being cutscenes.

But come to think of it... yeah, those feel distinct enough to be their own tier so they're edited to be in a new one between "cutscene" and "not a cutscene but no agency" since they really feel like an in-between of those tiers.

Can an Ancient Arrow one-shot a Lynel?
Lynels are not considered bosses despite how tough they are so yes, you can.

It ain't flashy enough imo. Yes it's high power, but you can accomplish similar with a sneak strike.
Honestly Sakurai should have make it so is an insta kill final smash like how the ancient arrows work in the breath of the wild. It would feel more final smash worthy like that and it be more accurate to the game even if kind of OP. At the very least if you hit someone with over 100% damage it should do the insta kill effect.
