With the new AI tools, if someone dedicates the time and effort as something like the Grinch leak to make it believable, it will definitely not be a case of "that's obviously AI".

Sure there will be laughably bad fake leaks using AI, but as technology presses on, the Smash fanbase continues to be obsessive, insane and easily baited, and leaks co-opt significant attention in speculation, there's gonna be some believable **** tossed out there.

I never took any leak all too serious to be honest. Been around with speculation before Brawl, but gotta admit, they became more and more convincing over time. To the point where I now admit that the most convincing parts of speculation will include leaks in the future. It isn't as much pattern recognition or logical thinking nowadays, it's gonna be leaks.

And then you get the fact that sometimes a blurry photo may be more real than what looks like a "good shot" of it, due to how likely someone could get said good shot. People try to get screenshots via a cellphone at work far more often than anything else, which means lower quality is actually more realistic.

Though that doesn't mean it's always as simple as that. Someone who actually makes copies of said work could find a way to get out cleaner shots, or sometimes it's pure text, etc. Nothing is ever simple. It's generally a dubious thing by nature regardless of how many easy tells there are. And that's not even counting A.I.

It's the year 2025/2026. A new smash has come out, and one of the big things that it's praised for is the expressive character animation. Every character has been given a lot more expressive movements and facial expressions, and it altogether increased the game's appeal by a lot.

Except for Sonic. He still doesn't emote for some likely Sega related reason.
Yea I think one of the IDW artist mentioned Sega has restrictions on sonic facial expressions which is shame because the Sonic OVA and CD showed off how fun Sonic can be when hes drawn like a Lupin the Third character. To be fair it probably wont just be sonic with the restrictions, Id love to see the fire emblem characters making the Enel face from One piece more than anyone but I doubt whoever oversees that would be cool with it.

I liked the realistic denim pants but rest easy, Sakurai did make it a point from the transition from 3 to 4 to remove the 'realism'. But in any case the grungy, edgy look of Brawl was probably my favourite in the entire series, a real shame it's probably never gonna come back because I'd love to see how the new characters would work with such an aesthetic

please no more ultra-realistic denim on Mario's pants XD.

same. i like brawl's art as is, but it was kneecapped by not being on HD software. If they tried it now on the Switch 2, it'd prolly look so much better. But yeah, like you said we'll prolly never fully revist it. brawl was def a product of its time.

While Melee is kinda a time capsule since the designs were based on official artworks that were made before lot of characters got their more modern designs.

It gave Melee a distinct look so isn’t a problem

I know he's not allowed to be shown crying, and I'm sure there are restrictions added to make sure his animations work with his face, but limiting him to like, 2 expressions in Super Smash Bros. is silly...Though maybe it's more that Sakurai doesn't have the time/patience to clear every facial animation with Sega.

Sonic was expressive in brawl, i dont know what happened.

I wonder if making characters more expressive with their animations thanks to the mario movie is going to become a common goal for a lot of nintendo games going forward. The next 3D Mario is going to look gorgeous in that case.
Smash Team might get the influence too.
Game series tend to mold themselves after their movies for a while after said movie becomes popular.

Sonic's boosts now has a lightning effect like in the movies for example, Mortal Kombat is still riding the high of the 90's movie and Street fighter alpha exists because the anime movie was popular.

And I pretty much always dislike it because the changes to something that a movie adapation makes is almost always so they can churn it through Hollywood's idea of Boilerplate Action-Comedy Film #24234. please ignore my love for the street fighter 90s live action film that's not important right now PutBladeInStreetFighter6 kthxbai

But at least the lesson they've seem to have learned "we need to make things more animated to really signal a jump in quality" rather than "Minions x Mario game is a GO". Yes, DK is there... but I think that's just that both of them are coming from a (likely Miyamoto-inspired?) angle of "let's fuse the arcade and country designs for the better" rather than having game dk match movie dk directly (because it would be weird if he was the only one they made look movie-style when everyone else is clearly a compacted version of the game iterations).

Decided to take another crack at a Smash 6 roster prediction since I've been seeing those again lately.

myroster.png

About a similiar size to Ultimate with some veterans sacrificed for the newcomers. (unsure how realistic that would be and dlc isn't a factor here) I'm still a bit iffy on it as I hold some doubt as to wether Sakurai would actually get rid of Joker, Pythra, Roy, Greninja and Duck Hunt in particular. (Though if I didn't the newcomer selection would be too empty imo) Miraidon might as well be exchangeable with any Gen 10 mon. Zelda's once again without a newcomer losing Young Link in the process and Birdo as a new echo fighter instead of someone like Dixie might not sit right for some people. What do yall feel?

The fact that this has a chance higher than zero of happening scares me, yet slightly comforts me because my younger cousins absolutely LOVE Fortnite and it would give me a good excuse to introduce them to Smash Bros.

It’s an alright game. I like doing the funny dances with the funny skins in my Nike Air Jordans.

We'll get Peely and we'll love it.
I wouldn't be surprised if aside from Jonesy, we also got some characters as skins for him like Peely. Probably 3 skins for Jonesy, 3 skins for the default female character chosen(probably Ramirez), and then Peely and one other character, much like how Steve & Alex also came with Zombie and Enderman.

Although I still think it'd be funny to put in Prince Orin and Princess Lexa as skins for Jonesy.

I wouldn’t throw a tantrum over Jonesy or anything, but if we seriously got Peely or Fishstick instead… or like, even just a variety of costumes to account for the quirkier Fortnite original characters, I’d be far more enthusiastic about it.

At the very least, if we ever got some Fortnite Mii Costumes, I think this would be the way to go.

A few hours ago a rumor surfaced about the announcement of a "last big Nintendo Switch game" from a niche franchise and it is NOT a remaster. Which one could it be?
My bets are either Rythm Paradise or Golden Sun. Camelot hasn't released anything for four years and until now they were releasing games every 2/3 years. Rythm Paradise usually comes out relatively late in each generation.

The Mysterious Murasame Castle champs vindicated at last?
Okay, as written it does say "series". Even so, I'm a little surprised we haven't seen at least a remake of the original as of yet. From what I understand, it's something of a cult classic over in Japan - hence Takamaru's Samurai Warriors 3 appearance.

I think that will be Golden Sun too. RPGs seem to work well on the Switch. I imagine it would be a good time to bring this franchise back.

I'll believe it when I see it. I do not like getting my hopes up for these kind of rumors.

I feel bad for whatever this last Switch 1 game could possibly be, assuming the rumor is real. I know it’ll be playable on Switch 2 unless it widely uses the IR sensor, but I still think that’ll put a huge dent in its popularity.

I feel like a rumor like that could be twisted to mean any number of things that could potentially happen lol

I'd be a little surprised for Golden Sun I think because I would think Golden Sun would get like a remake of the original first, but also because saying it's NOT a remaster means it would be a sequel continuing off of Dark Dawn which came out 15 years ago.

Please don't give me hope...

I do think Rhythm Heaven would make for a good late-stage release, I've always held the belief that it could spring back up at pretty much any point. I'm not harboring too much confidence in this yet but I do think a smaller budget title like Rhythm Heaven will be a safer bet for this than... let's say, niche releases that would still present a pretty high production value like Kid Icarus or Golden Sun which I think would be delayed for the Switch 2.
