I truly don't think Nintendo cares about the US election

Like I know this country likes to make it's problems everyone else's problem too, but I don't think that applies here.

While it's reasonable to say that the most immediate, dramatic effect possible is probably just that the election would make the U.S. a terrible place to be, I think the point that NintenRob was citing was more that attention is going to be on that more than it would be on their console, especially with the voting starting in a week from today.

Like, at the very least, the people in the U.S. that aren't actively looking for the announcement won't see it because it'll be buried under ad campaigns, election news, and people yelling at each other about the election.

I hesitate on comparisons to how the Switch was revealed, because Nintendo was pretty desperate to get that thing out and get the Wii U off the market, while here they can take their time to transition to the next thing.

Precisely, the example they use in the video is that right now, they wouldn't be able to front page (or any page) of the New York Times because everything right now is zeroed in on the election. And that basically applies to everything. Bill boards, bus stops, TV Commercials, news. So much of it is dedicated to the electection so there's no room for a video game system. The logic checks out

Yeah but remember when they delayed the September 2018 Direct after an earthquake, because Isaac was revealed and that would have been bad timing?
THat means the Switch 2 reveal is being delayed because it will also have a new Smash reveal, and they're announcing Senator Armstrong as the first newcomer, which would be bad timing considering he says the exact quote "We'll make America great again,*and Nintendo doesn't want to be seen as taking sides.

Yeah, it’s honestly been really tough for me to focus on much else lately. This election cycle has been super stressful but I’m trying to do everything I can on my end. I’ve read some comments on Reddit where people try to take a break from it all and play video games like Metaphor but it just reminds them more of everything that’s going on here.

Well, for the Zelda cast, my favorite versions are OoT Link, Ultimate (OoT) Ganondorf, and Brawl (TP) Zelda. If we get Impa, my favorite version is Hyrule Warriors (or SS if we can’t have that). For Samus, I think it’s probably between Samus Returns and Super Metroid but her Dread suit is really cool too. For all of them, I’d like to see their costume slots be used for different models of their appearances throughout the series.

Isn't Senator Armstrong a parody of people like tha-you know what. I shouldn't underestimate humanity's capacity to misinterpret a character both ways.

I don’t often buy remasters but I might for this one. I couldn’t really get into Xenoblade X at the time because I found it so overwhelming to manage all the resources in that game. Now that I’ve completed Xenoblade 2 and 3, I’d like to go back and try to finish this game as well.

...but uh, that late March release date all but confirms to me that we're aren't hearing a peep from Nintendo about the next console until 2025.

Nice! As someone who is a Xenoblade Chronicles fan (having purchased the Definitive Edition of the first game as well as the second and third entries), I'm really glad that Xenoblade Chronicles X is getting a Switch port too.

That said, I'm really curious how updated the Character Creator is, because Cross(the red-haired character who is a created character) really got a glow-up.

For a comparison shot:

His hair is a bit shorter and rougher and doesn't have that random ahoge. His face also looks more focused and both his and Elma's faces look a bit slicker too, with slightly smaller eyebrows and their eyes being a bit sharper.

No, especially if the new project Sakurai is working on is a new Smash Bros, which his recent video implies he's been working on it since around late 2021/early-mid 2022.

Xenoblade X music being in Smash is definitely possible though.

I would say the chances really depends on when Sakurai cooked the next Smash.

If the project he wrote back in 2021 is Smash, then I don't think we're seeing a single Xenoblade character in base game since I would assume Xenoblade 3 barely missed the mark (it was first announced in February 2022, seven months after his project plan was done, and wouldn't release for another 5, exactly one year after his project plan was done) and XCX's new port would obviously be way out of the question.

If that project isn't Smash and the next Smash was already written sometime between Xenoblade 3's release and last night, Noah and/or Mio are practically guaranteed because it'd be too soon for XCX's port to have any weight.

If the project plan for the next Smash has yet to be written, I can see Elma be a decent contender but I imagine Sakurai e would probably want to focus more on the Xenoblade 3 cast regardless.

Ah, I wasn't imagining things here. Elma's skin actually is lighter now. I think this has to do with how skin is rendered, as it's also true of Cross, but it will take some getting used to.

It could be lighting or maybe possibly a time shot. Because in-game, you can also see this scene at night time. Like the main first shot could be at 12 PM while the second shot could be at 8-11 AM.

Dual Guns and Dual Swords. And I don't see how a character who fights with 2 guns and 2 swords is not Smash-Bros worthy. We already have people advocating for a Dual gun and giant sword user from Capcom.

It depends on what Xenoblade X means for the future of the Xenoblade series.

Is it starting a new saga that continues its story for a few games? Or is it still a spin-off to the main series?

I really hope it's going to be released on both systems and not just get buried under Switch 2 hype. It's also possible that the Switch 2 gets released for winter 2025, but even that being the case it probably wouldn't be great for Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Still though, the fact it exists at all is amazing and it's SO PRETTY! Like man, I forgot how pretty this game was, and it got even better!
