I for one look forward to spamming Smashes and tilts.

I do that already, so Minmin won't be the first. Not the last, either.

Technically they got around that; the director for ARMS said that every character is a protag lol. Sakurai addressed it specifically for those who wondered about it and they got around via technicality lol.

I'll believe "everyone is the protagonist" when everyone gets pushed the same as Spring Man and Ribbon Girl lol.

That said, she looks SO MUCH FUN! That's an insta-buy from me. It's weird that Spring Stadium is the stage, but I guess its gimmick was more interesting than Ramen Bowl. Nice to see that she has her own little gameplay quirks. If anyone thought that the ARMS characters would play literally the same, this should remove all doubt of how untrue that is.

I also thought the same thing as Sari , only to have Heihachi brutally slaughtered a few minutes later. I think this is it for Tekken.

Finally, about Spirits... we all but got verbal acknowledgement that they don't rule out characters and that more Spirit battle changes are coming. Which is great! I just wish we got t see Minmin's Spirit Board, because I really want a Hedlok Legend fight.

And about Spirit rematches, lemme ask the real important question - CAN WE REMATCH BOSSES ON A WHIM NOW? That would be dope.

Congrats to the Min Min fans around here. She seems like a really complex character who will take a lot of getting used to, she plays completely differently from everyone else. It's nice to see a Spirit get an upgrade too, I find it kinda funny that even after all these discussions we've had about it Sakurai didn't even mention it, despite how he usually talks about the tiniest details. It's hard to say if ATs are still off the table given that Min Min was chosen due to being a request from the developer, I don't think the situation around that has changed much, so I expect discussions about that to go on.

Condolences to Heihachi fans btw, it's really rough for a Mii Costume to be missing for this long only for it to show up now. I remember a lot of people took note of his Mii Costume not being released alongside the other fighting game ones that came out at the same time as Terry, I guess it's just a warning not to read too much into these things as it could still happen at any time down the line.

RIP Heihachi, He was my preferred Namco character alongside Don-Chan so to see him go is kinda sad.

Anyways, The main thing I came here for and correct me if I'm wrong or whatever but: Sakurai stated he pretty much only looked at Ninjara and Min Min seriously correct? In that case and if he didn't look at any other character with as much consideration doesn't that disconfirm the "No Spirit Upgrades" fan-rule?

I'm not saying there will be Spirit Upgrades beyond Min Min cause even if she is one herself that doesn't instantly mean more will come but the whole "Spirit Upgrades are literally impossible" thing is bunk if Sakurai absolutely disregarded that Ninjara/Min Min were spirits and wanted to choose them as the character. He can easily do that with other characters which once again I'm not saying he for sure will do but he could.

Also Min Min looks pretty great.

Overall thoughts on the entire Min-Min presentation:

• Since there was a Min-Min sticker, I guess this could very well debunk the theory of characters being stickers are not likely to have a chance of being a playable character.
• Whilst I am sad that Heihachi and the Tekken series are out of the running for Smash, if there were any other Namco choices, I'd opt with someone either from Tales or SoulCalibur.
• I'm actually curious to see when we will get the next character reveal because I have a feeling it is most likely to take a while considering what's been going on lately as Sakurai stated during the Smash stream.

Doom Guy has been deconfirmed for a while though given statement from the developers in an interview.

I think that the mii costume are decided way after the character, so he might get in as a mii later.

I actually think Heihachi's costume returning hurts Lloyd more than it helps him, sadly. Part of the reason a Namco fighter seemed so likely was because all of their costumes were missing. Now that one's down, the idea that the others could just randomly drop anytime seems much more likely.

So, my thoughts...

• So it's Min Min who gets the Win Win. Not only do ARMS fans get the fan favorite (and director's favorite), but it's official: Spirits are not deconfirmations. Min Min becoming playable, as well as Spirit Battles being able to be changed after the fact, has officially laid that to rest.
• Min Min looks fun, like another take on the whole "relies heavily on range" schtick after Simon and Richter. Plus, that Final Smash looks awesome.
• Since it wasn't Spring Man, I expected Sakurai to address Assist Trophies, but he... didn't? The closest he came was when he addressed Spring Man being the protagonist (not true, everyone is a protagonist). The perfect opportunity to answer the question "Do Assist Trophies deconfirm?", and we still don't have an answer...
• So of the Smash 4 costumes that hadn't returned during the first Fighters Pass... Heihachi is the first to fall...
  
• Soul-crushing deconfirmation aside, I'm surprised we only got one additional ARMS costume. Would've expected at least two. Plus, didn't expect that Vault Boy from the Vault Boy series costume.

So thus ends this episode of Smash DLC and speculation. While I haven't bought Fighters Pass 2 yet and am still not convinced to do so right now, the DLC looks good right now. Hopefully the rest will be good too... and hopefully we won't have to wait long to find out.

That's a fair point but in that case still, why would he look at Ninjara when he's also a Spirit? If the ARMS producer came up and asked for Min Min specifically what point would there be for him to look at Ninjara instead of only Min Min or Min Min and say, Dr. Coyle or someone who doesn't have a Spirit? He'd still be specifically disregarding the Spirit by heavily considering Ninjara.

So it's Min Min, well... that's interesting.
Spirits don't deconfirm anymore it seems. This makes me think that the absence of Geno's Mii costume could mean that he can still be a DLC fighter.
Cpt Syrup, Karate Joe, Ganon... they all have a chance again now.

Though, Adeleine might never be in the game, not even as a spirit. This sucks.

Min Min's moveset is partially unique but has some boring generic kick moves. I would have preferred a fully unique moveset but at least all the moves that involve the spring arms are unique and the up kick that reflects projectiles is interesting too. I'm not sure if she will be fun to play as, from what I've seen it seems a bit frustrating that you have to run away all the time and it's very easy to miss the target; but I'm sure that competitive players will find better ways to play as her.

Are they hesitant about the names of M-rated games that are only getting Mii Costumes? Just imagine if Cacomallow somehow became real (0.1% chance, but still) and Cacodemon was labeled as "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate X Cacodemon".

As much as I am happy for Min Min, I am sorry for Spring Man supporters! I hope maybe he'll get a shot next time, especially assuming ARMS stays around as a relevant Nintendo franchise (which I'm sure Smash will help with).

Glad about the improvements made with spirit battles. Looks like there's plenty of spirit battles I can dwelve into that I haven't seen in the board, but improving the single player experience and reminding us that spirits exist and can be used in normal battles immediately after making them pointless is a weird decision. Predictions for the rest of the pass are still the same for me, except I guess BotW Zelda will be the sequel character in my predictions now.

As a sidenote, were those new renders for the ARMS character that were shown off in Spring Stadium's titantron? Everyone but Springtron seems to have got one.

I'm banking on Yuri if a Tails character happens, he's the Ike of his series, the most popular guy in Tales. It would make sense.

If Spring Man is the new Chrom, I feel sorry for him. But I don't think it's gonna be that bad for him like it was for Chrom. Chrom was mocked by everyone for not making it. Spring Man seems to be just a very small minority (though him being the way he is in the poster doesn't help).

I think only the Base game spirits are back on the table. Ones that got Spirit Board/Events I think are deconfirmed as those were planned recently and the Base ones were planned when there were no plans for an second Fighters Pass.

Its sad Spring Man didn't get in because I know a lot of people want Waluigi, including my brother. The fact that Spring Man is basically the face of his game and didn't get upgraded to a playable character, really hurts Waluigi's chance of getting in. Also if they were just picking a fighter, there are others that I would have preferred. But really it should have been Spring Man/Ribbon girl as alts like Wii Fit Trainer.

Not really. What was Sakurai supposed to say when the developer of ARMS himself requested Min Min? "Too bad, I want Spring Man since he's the mascot."

Sakurai never explicitly stated that Spring Man didn't get in because of his AT, so I think we can assume that he and every other ARMS character was always on the table.
