Neither Sakurai nor the Smash account made mention that there wouldn't be another fighter shown off in Sephiroth's presentation:
Actually they did, saying something along the lines of "we will not be revealing the 9th DLC pack". This caused some confusion a bit of a ways back.

I Know, But this stretch between these type of Tournaments is the longest currently. Plus since we got Both Min-Min and Steve (Steve is classified by the Java release in 2011), I thought we would have gotten it now if we were done, but it hasn't happen yet. that's why I'm curious about this
I still think waiting is the best option here. It'll happen eventually.

Those aren’t KH-related, though And they‘re really not that protective of KH specifically (otherwise all the terrible official merch wouldn’t exist).
Then how about World of Final Fantasy?

He was added into it... but only temporarily before being 3D All-Stars'd... I mean wiped out. And he wasn't even allowed to have a voice.

Anyone feel like Sephiroth will only bring 2 tracks similar to Cloud ?
One Winged Angel and J-E-N-O-V-A.
I feel like we will get a decent amount of tracks (hopefully enough to finally push us over 1000). Unlike the last game, the DLC characters include an assortment of tracks, so I feel like we are still going to get at least around 7, as opposed to just two.

Sorry man, actually knowing WB Games they'll try to add The Arkham Knight from Arkham Knight or Injustice Superman on the basis that they debuted in a Video Game

Actually, he was, but only in the Japanese version. I think the international versions were silent because HJO is a big-name celebrity.

If WB Games add a Character, they'll definitely add in a Mortal Kombat character.

Mortal Kombat vs Street fighter, in addition to all the other Franchises would be too Legendary. I don't think it's time for DC against Smash, but it might come eventually in a Future Smash game

Ed Boon also said publicly that A. He wants Scorpion in Smash and B. He wants to do a Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat game, so he'd be the pick for a WB games character.

Maxwell, DC and Chas McCain are all possibilities, but I wouldn't put it past DC to try to get some DC content in Smash, maybe a Batman mii costume or something.

Considering Batman is a comic book character, that's not happening lol.

As mentioned elsewhere, though it probably means nothing

I feel like this is just a mistake and means nothing, but go absolutely crazy if you wish.
I’ve seen it said that the description of the Japanese presentation apparently says no fighters after CP9 will be shown, with that counting Piranha Plant as the first since apparently Steve’s presentation (its stream’s description) said none after CP8.

edit::ultgreninja: strikes again.

It's looking like Pass 2 is going to be finished before the December 2021 deadline.
Any chance of Sakurai saying, "That's it for Fighter's Pass Volume 2... but, we had a little extra time, do please watch this: (Extra DLC character)"?

There was a problem fetching the tweet

We most definitely are not getting another reveal. They probably didn't feel the need to add that notice since it should be standard knowledge by now.
There is a mention for the Japan showcase on Youtube with the following text:
有料追加コンテンツ第9弾以降の、新ファイターの発表はございません。
Which roughly translates to "No new fighter will be announced after the 9th paid content"

Nintendo: "Damn, for some reason these crazy ******** keep thinking we'll announce completely unrelated characters in character presentations, we better start putting disclaimers"
Speculators start speculating about the disclaimers anyway

There's always a chance, this is Sakurai we're talking about. As much as people might argue that FP2 is the end of DLC because Sakurai said 'x' 'y' and 'z', I would not be surprised if there were additional fighters. As long as Sakurai is helming the project, there's always a chance for more content. But it's also important to remember that the development team has to stop working on the game at some point.

I feel like that's almost guaranteed to happen. Especially with this probably being the final "traditional" Smash.

I'm still of the train of thought that the only actual rule for inclusion is that you must originate from a video game to be considered for Smash. Every other made up fan rule gets smashed time and time again with every new inclusion. Every video game character is eligible. Circumstances, finances, time constraints, licensing, in game content, and advertising make some characters more or less likely, but the only characters we can totally rule out are non-video game characters (i.e Goku, Batman, Spiderman, etc.) and Mai Shiranui because Sakurai specifically said she isn't happening. I'd love to see Scorpion on the Smash main stage, as the legacy of that series absolutely deserves it. Circumstances tell me that is not very likely though (mature content, low recognition in Japan, actual bans on several Mortal Kombat titles in Japan, etc.). I know a lot of folks still want to see Sora, but again circumstances make that seem unlikely(Square-Enix already having a character in the pass, difficulties with Disney licensing, etc.) Feel free to keep on rooting for him though, the magic of Smash makes the seemingly impossible, possible time and time again. Just keep your expectations in check, so if it doesn't happen, your are able to rebound and not go into total meltdown mode, especially in a year like this one. Sorry for the paragraph, thanks for coming to my lecture.

Counterpoint...

Less relevant Counterpoint

I am aware of the Cave Story exsistance, but Braid made people pay attention to Indie games, and it won multiple awards, and had incredible sales sucsess, plus a new version of Braid is coming out next year.

I just think it's important not to overlook the impact Braid had on the industry as a whole and that it should always be in discussion when it comes to Indie reps in smash.

If you honestly can't imagine the difference between Geno, his previous costume, his personal shout-outs from Sakurai, and the masses of even more obscure characters out there, then I really don't know what to tell you. The fanbase of Poppy from Xenoblade chronicles 2 is not the same as the Geno fanbase, or the Isaac fanbase, or the Goku fanbase. I highly doubt there a sizeable population of rational people out there that will be honestly surprised when Goku doesn't get in. Geno, on the other hand was obviously more anticipated. If you disagree, then that's fully subjective.
But it's not the masses of even more obscure characters. At least, it's not just them. You contextualized this process, this "journey" as of one revolving around prolonged hope. Hope is the commodity, you said so yourself. And fanbases from Poppy to Crash to Sora to Lloyd to Geno to whoever are forced to wait and have hope.

And many camps that support third-party characters won't get any representation at all. I guarantee you, as opposed to Geno's probable fate, many of those characters will have entirely no presence in Ultimate. Yet they have to endure literally until Sakurai explicitly says that the game is over.

Which, tangentially, is why people should almost always remain skeptical as to an inclusion. Because when you go years believing your own hype, you have that much farther to possibly fall. But there's nowhere to go but up when you stay unconvinced.

So elevating the situation of what a Geno fan is tasked with rings out hollow. That fanbase is not in as unique a situation as some might think. In fact, you will likely receive closure. Closure a year before many other fanbases.

So again I say, it's not a situation that garners special sympathy. It's not always fun to have to keep waiting, but it's not a fanbase-specific situation in which hope lingers through a long process to learn the fate of a character you support. I mean, last time I waited and hoped for Isaac literally from when the game was (prematurely) announced in 2011 to the final presentation on the cusp of 2016 only to see a fairly popular request not even return as an AT. But that is the possibility with which you need to be able to reconcile when you dedicate time hoping for an outcome in this series.

That's a fair assessment.
