Sorta? It depends on if you're going for full control or partial control. Xenoblade feels more like a real-time RPG than a full-on action RPG, due to the auto-attack system. You can move your character around a little and use their Arts if they're not on a cooldown, but you don't get to actively attack. Then again, I'm not sure if that's a subgenre of action RPG or it's own thing.

I don't entirely agree re: reworking characters neccessarily mean making characters more complicated. Toon Link getting Pegasus Boots could result in a straightforward horizontal dash, and that alone would change how Toon Link plays just to name a hypotheoretical example.

That's why I said and/or. Some characters, like Mario, I think would at most become harder to master rather than more complicated overall since being easy to understand is a major part of his character. Same with Kirby, but even more so.

I think the Links are fine as is, they just need to bring more of their ideas with them to stand out from each other.

It's not something I've heard, but it seems like action RPG is too broad as it is, so I could go for something like:

• Turn Based RPG: Dragon Quest

• Not an RPG: Dark Souls

Aaaaanyways, I was thinking of a write-up for an "Ironic Weeb" Fighters Pass and I had trouble thinking of the last two slots. So I want this thread's input on what I should have as the last two slots. Who would you guys consider "Ironic Weeb" picks? Here's a few characters I had in mind. Feel free to suggest a different character from one that's already listed.

• Yu Narukami from Persona 4 (Joker's already in the game)
• Makoto Yuki from Persona 3 (the Persona 3 protag)
• Reimu Hakurei from "Touhou" series

• Euden from Dragalia Lost (or any gacha protag really)

Here's a question: What would you guys think of a conglomerate Link similar to Hero where they use items and stuff from across the games they represent?

So like, Link gains alternate costumes for The Hero of Time, The Hero of Twilight, The Hero of the Skies, and The Champion of Hyrule, Toon Link doesn't get any specific costumes because all of his incarnations look the same (aside from pre-adventure clothes, though I wouldn't mind alts for those), and they both use abilities from each game they've appeared in.

Nothing changes for Young Link because he's the only iteration of the character.

Personally, I don't see any reason not to do Toon Link in this way, but Link is a bit less justified since The Champion of Hyrule just screams "one of these things is not like the others", and I'm not really sure if he should be lumped in with the other three even though he fits the Adult Link mold.

I think that would be a much better representation of Zelda. And it would be better than just having three characters with the same basic moveset. I'd be all for it.

If not in Smash, it should at least be in the next Marvel vs. Capcom entry. This game just generally deserves way more attention than it gets.

While turn-based combat typically falls under the RPG genre, it's definitely not one of the necessary components for it..

Admittedly, I'm not quite sure myself. I don't know enough about the first two to say, but I think Zelda falls under action-adventure rather than an RPG. Typically, Link doesn't have stats or experience points, he only gets items to help him with puzzles and combat rather than gear that has different stats, and his swords only deal a set amount of damage. I think BotW closes the gap a bit, but I'm not sure it fully counts due to the lack of proper stats and level-ups. I think a good way to put this in perspective is with Ys, which was pretty close to Zelda before Ys SEVEN but still had stats and numbers. I think the emphasis on numbers and calculation is a major cornerstone of the genre.

The Capcom leaks are real. It may contain some info regarding a Capcom fighter for Smash Ultimate. It may also not.

Though judging by the photo it includes the Japan exclusive games. That's cool.

Even if there's still info left, I don't think the hackers got absolutely everything. Granted, I don't really know that much about this subject but if there's a Capcom rep in Pass 2 I don't think that data will 100% appear among the data they hacked.

I don't know. Apparently, the reason this leak is happening is because Capcom refused to pay those guys who stole this information from a few days ago. I don't like the idea of more companies being... put into this situation.
