Its musical style is terrible cheesy song lyrics that I don't think anyone likes until they play the game and embrace the stupidity head-on.
Reminds me of how some of the songs in Xenoblade Chronicles X don't quite make sense. Don't Worry is particularly bad in this regard, and apparently the German songs sound really silly as well.

Virgina!

that's a cool state (i think)
New Jersey is the best state, y’all just jealous. We have the best food, best music, best beaches, best pizza, best bagels, you name it.

The only downside of NJ is everyone who is in a car drives like a sociopath.

Also daily reminder that y’all are sleeping on a FP3.

Weirdly, Devil Trigger Might actually be my Least Favorite of the DMC5 Battle Themes, and Not because I hate the Song, but It's just not my Style. Comparatively I Like The other 3 Tracks (Subhuman, Crimson Cloud, and Bury the Light) More

Wow...I didn't think I'd like it as much as Bury the Light because it's one of my favorites now but...I was not expecting to absolutely hate this song.

Well I guess that makes the DMC OST scorecard:
  • Devils Never Cry (Original & MvC remixes): Dislike
  • Bury the Light: Love
  • Crimson Cloud: Hate
Hmm. Not sure what to think about the series's musical style then.
Not liking Crimson Cloud and more importantly, Devils Never Cry (which would be for sure the song they would use for a supposed Dante reveal) deserves punishment.

But yeah, Bury the Light is amazing.

Another pass would probably take us into 2023, maybe even on the cusp of 2024 if we keep the same pace we have rn with vol 2. Not sure if I'm ready for that sort of long time commitment.

And would the switch itself still be Nintendo's focus at that time and not it's successor? I'm honestly not quite sure. Ultimate may be old news by that point.

at most I could see a simple bonus character or two, but even that feels like wishful thinking. I'm thinking vol 2's all we're getting atm and I kinda hope it stays that way tbqh.

A third pass is possible, but part of the reason why I think Nintendo was so willing to make a second pass is because they knew they wouldn't have very much DLC to offer in 2020 and 2021.

Once we get more high budget games like BotW 2 where they can offer DLC, I think they'll stop caring about Smash.

No offense to Bomberman or Fallout, but unlike Undertale or Cuphead, they don't HAVE any iconic music to them(well, Fallout does, but it's licensed).

We have FF music.
Hot take but they picked arguably my least favorite Cuphead song for DLC.

You coulda picked Hell of a Time, King's Court, Die House, Ruse of an Ooze, and they picked the fart trumpets.

Assuming the Switch has a 7-year lifespan like the consoles in the previous two generations and the next Smash game will take three years to develop like Brawl, Smash for, and Ultimate, then I imagine Smash Ultimate's DLC will end with talks on whatever the next Smash will be for an early launch on the Switch 2: Lever, similar to how Sakurai worked on Ultimate's project plan and Corrin/Bayonetta simultaneously in late 2015.

My logic is: Nintendo wants to support the switch for 3-6 more years. They can't really make a second Smash on Switch so a FP3 makes some sense. We'll wait and see.
If it's system sellers they're after, they could probably get away with a Mario Kart 9. At least, so long as their newcomer roster is better than a new baby character that didn't need to exist, peach, but metal, and the Koopalings.

Fun Fact: Pink Gold Peach is made of gold and copper because that's how you get pink gold things...Does that mean we could use her as a lightning rod?

Well, she sure attracted criticism, so she's good at conducting hate if nothing else.

I say we need Mario Kart Ultimate, with all characters and tracks returning from past games. Even the Bandai Namco characters from the arcade games.

Bomberman has this theme which has been remixed a few times and this theme which has been remixed (and used as the multiplayer theme) a LOT.
Oh I know. It's a popular song for that series, but not gaming in general. You don't see it appear on lists of top game songs.

+1,000,000!!!

Well, not ALL the tracks from the SNES MK. One per tileset would suffice. So 8 total(2 Cups).

Or do that. In fact, I think that would be better so long as they didn't treat all of the character costume "characters" from Mario Kart Tour as separate characters. The roster would probably look pretty bloated if they weren't at least relegated to costume slots.

Like seriously, they've got Baby Mario, Mario, Metal Mario, Mario (Musician), Mario (Hakama), Mario (Santa), Mario (Happi), Ice Mario, Mario (Classic), Builder Mario, Mario (Chef), Mario (Swimwear), Mario (SNES), Mario (Sunshine), Mario (Halloween), and Gold Mario. And that's just Mario. Some of them could be separate slots like Mario (SNES), but all of those costumes need to be costumes or it's just gonna look bad.

And then Funky Kong returns as the best character in the series.

And that's totally bodacious.

Nintendo: "And we also brought back all the karts, bikes, and ATVs!"
Fans: looks at Flame Runner "So you just made Mario Kart Wii with extra steps?"
Nintendo: "Well...the tracks are different."
Fans: happy fan noises

I think more games in general (especially fighting games) should take a page from Smash Ultimate's "Everyone Is Here" schtick. Mario Kart is a good example, since each game has brought enough unique characters to make a good roster, even with all the redundant clones and babies... you know, as long as they don't treat all the costumes as separate characters, as was said above.

Another example, albeit one that's moreso "close enough"? If we end up getting another Marvel vs. Capcom game (whether it's a "true" fourth game, or just a rebrand and rerelease of Infinite with the flaws ironed out), it should bring back all the characters from UMVC3 and Infinite, plus a few additional veterans from MVC2 (a game that also pulled the "Everyone Is Here" move with the exception of one or two characters) and a few newcomers.

Me: "An "Everyone is Here!" would be cool for the Marvel Vs. Capcom series! I'm sure that's feasible right?"
There are 102 characters in the series counting both instances of Jill as separate characters (because they basically are), and also one of them could only be released in Japan for licensing reasons.
Me: "Never mind then!"

But yeah, a close enough kind of deal would be pretty cool, though I think they'd benefit a bit more from focusing on newcomers, though adding in a few key favorites from Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 would be great.

Especially if one of them is Mega Man (Classic).

I think Nintendo's already got the perfect system for Mario Kart games (50% new, 50% old).

To be honest, I don't think I'd be nearly as interested in a Mario Kart Ultimate as I would with a Mario Kart Switch/Mario Kart 9. I'm not as attached to the roster as I am with Smash Bros., and that's because drivers are mostly cosmetic and function identically to those of a similar weight. Yeah, there's a lot of old tracks that I'd love to see return, but I'd gladly pass them up if it means getting a bunch of new tracks based off of Odyssey or other Nintendo properties outside Mario.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was a good enough "Ultimate" for me. I just want to see the series move forward now.

I wouldn't bring back all or even most of the tracks regardless. Not even sure that'd be feasible. Instead, I'd add the two best ones from each game from Super Mario Kart to Mario Kart 8 to make up the Retro Cups. The Nitro Cups would be all new just like normal.

Other than that, I'd probably make a Double Dash!! mode, and that'd really be it for callbacks. Honestly it would just be a normal new Mario Kart installment except the roster is bigger than normal.

Also Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a terrible "Ultimate". It doesn't even have all the series staples.

All I need is 16 new tracks.

Beyond that, I just want as many tracks as possible. If they're all remakes after the first 16, that' A-OK with me.

Do you think Nintendo would choose to take him? This isn't a cynical rhetorical question, try to convince me, because I believe he's been off the table since that reveal. You can use Min-Min as an example, but that doesn't quite convince me Nintendo sees reason in promoting XC2. Though then again, promoting ARMS after Nintendo neglected its existence is pretty funny.
Both XB2 and XBDE have sold more units in Nintendo's latest financial quarter than ARMS. It's a game with very short... legs

But if we're talkin Nintendo's priorities, I find Pokemon is going to show up before Xenoblade content.
