The Game Awards have not released nominations, though this did cause me to go signup for updates (and to learn that its not the video game awards, its just The Game Awards. In which case they (should) have categories for other types of games, such as board games and card games.

And their circumstances regarding XCX haven't changed in 2 years. It's still a difficult game to port over regardless.
That's the thing though. If you don't like the game, I don't see how a single character would make you like it.
That...doesn't make sense. If you don't like the chunks, then adding a cherry on top isn't going to remove the chunks. You'd still be better off eating the ice cream without chunks.
Maybe you don't want the correct things? It's a bit difficult for me to wrap my brain around what I just said, but then again, if your wanted character is only Clippy from Microsoft Word, it's difficult to say 'everyone should get something they want.'

Well, this thread does have its appeals beyond what the game itself can offer. I'm here way more than I'm playing the game anyway.

How was Spring Man done dirty? Min Min is the most popular character of the series- which is likely to become the mascot, considering she was popular with fans from her reveal for ARMS, won the popularity poll (and thusly, the actual ARMS tournament, in cannon), and is the producers pick.
So do you believe Min Min would be favored compared to anyone else on the Nintendo's menu? Over the shiny new Pokemon? Over Spring Man? And that goes for like, y'know, the third parties and all as well on top of that.
How did Nintendo neglect ARMS?
Because as the mascot and beginner character, he should have been the first pick.

I'm not having this argument again. The producer comes forward to say 'all characters are equal' and the fanbase still ignores it. Nothing else to discuss

ARMs itself doesn't prioritize any character. At best, you could say Springtron.

Agreed. Generally, you're going to go for the guy/girl on the boxart first, so Boxart Person has to be easy to understand for the game's standards and express the mechanics well. It's why Samurai Shodown still has Haohmaru as the main character, even though Nakoruru is more popular and has more appearances outside the series.
They are very clearly not. They may all be the protagonists of Arcade Mode, but that's not really much different from the main mode so it doesn't really mean much, and some characters are much more important to either the game or the lore.
Well, I don't personally understand his train of thought on that front, but I can understand finding speculation more fun than the actual game. I don't personally think anyone's reason for being here has to correlate directly to their opinion on the game.
I know, I just don't think that makes her a King of Fighters character. She's still a Samurai Showdown character in my eyes.

Yes, it does. There's no story to it other than its characters competition in a fighting tournament and really no story or in-depth to it, not unless you count that upcoming ARMS comic that focuses on Spring Man but that was probably canceled or currently in development hell.
Yes but Smash tends to have a habit of making franchises or characters more popular especially when given a playable status.
Her point was that, first of all, Spring Man is still being treated as the mascot, with him being front and center for all of Min Min's cinematic, and even having his stage be the stage she came with even though she has her own. There's also that, as a sole mascot, Min Min freakin' sucks. While Spring Man, and to a slightly lesser extent, Ribbon Girl's abilities are there to help teach you the basics of the game, Min Min's got an entirely separate mechanic, and a lot more options to deal with. She's not simple enough to teach players the game.

It's not that she as a character is bad, it's that she as an introduction to the game is bad.
