I'm not sure why Fortnite is still being discussed as though it's at all a probable thing, honestly. If we hadn't only just had a character with a similar field of appeal, I could see it. But nah, not in this pass. Unfortunately I wouldn't entirely count it out if we get a third pass, though.
I think it's obvious all of us see that drivel as less of a hope and more of a fear. But I don't think it's realistic.

Also, Geno would be cool, I'd be down to see him. I'm also not gonna be terribly upset if we do not see him.

If you want my opinion on the Geno thread, or some of it, I believe it is like a "religion", just like all other threads about characters. However, the Geno thread is just more "devoted" for a lack of a better word, to the point where it seems they will believe anything hinting at Geno, even if it is not. There is a reason why they had all those over 3000 pages.

I say it can be mentally unhealthy. With that, no offense to anyone, but religion, or belief, which is synonyms with religion here, can lead to unhealthy behavior and negative things, the fan kind of religion like the Geno thread, anyway. Hopefully, no one is offended here.

There are plenty of skins that would make for pretty cool Mii costumes from Fortnite tbh. Jonesy himself has pretty great potential as a character IMO, but he might be a little gimmicky because of him having a ****ing gun and building but he's got the potential.

Y'know, seeing how things have went the past few Challenger Packs, the lack of somewhat credible-ish leaks - at least one that merits some amount of thought - is a double edged sword. On one hand, this thread ain't nearly as spicy. On the other, more room to have fun imagining things and the eventual surprise afterwards.

We'll just have to see what Nintendo wants to prioritize with FP2. While I don't see Jonesy as a frontrunner (Epic generally likes to focus elsewhere with their collabs, Sakurai might have some difficulties implementing the instant-build mechanic and balancing that - especially since Jonesy uses entirely different and more complex building blocks than Steve etc.) I'd argue that they do have enough mechanical uniqueness to stand out.

Besides that though, Fortnite does not have the exact demographic overlap as Minecraft has (because they're two different genres), so the hypotheoretical reasons to pick the two are somewhat different. Not to mention, Nintendo's reasons to partner with Microsoft and Epic would be different. Just as the reasons to pick Joker, Hero and Byleth were at least somewhat different.

The closest I can get to an authentic Taiko game is the game on switch because, as far as I know, no arcade around where I live has the actual arcade games.

TEAM ROCKET

STYLE: Trickster Cheat

Standard Special: Working on this one... I'm thinking it would be a RGN of different Pokemon in Team Rocket's disposal.

Side Special: Pokeball Trap. Team Rocket throws a Pokeball from the z axis, it traps a character in the ball for a few frames. Can be used to delay an opponent from recovery, or rack up damage.

Up Special: Meowth Balloon. Cannot harm opponents, but provides large protection for Meowth as he recovers. While onboard, others can jump into the balloon. Meowth can continue to fight in the balloon. If Meowth is in the water, this switches to a Magikarp Boat.

Down Special: Wobbuffet jumps into the game and uses either Magic Coat or Reflect. All moves bounce back at opponent at double attack.

All of Meowth’s standard attacks rely on Team Rocket’s other Pokemon for flash animations. Throws would include Ekans for one and Victreebel for another, Up Smash would have Koffing spew poison above. Other. Other cameos from Mime Jr, Lickitung, Cacnea….it would show off the variety of Pokemon.

FINAL SMASH: Pay Day. Team Rocket’s dream finally comes true, as a vegas casino style triple gold bar comes across the screen and we have the jackpot! Including an emotional, campy scene with Team Rocket and all their Pokemon crying in tears. The falling Gold bars immensely hurt players on screen, with heavy knockback. This is a throwback to the game corner, and it's connections to Team Rocket.

Fun Fact: Their death animation going off screen would be the ‘blasting off again.’

I feel like if you remove the crafting/resource element you lose a lot of what makes Fortnite...well...Fortnite. It's a shooter that combines crafting/construction on the fly to better survive/traverse the battlefield. If you want to remove that it'd be better to just choose any other major shooter icon like Master Chief or something to have more interesting representation of the genre.

I agree. Nothing against the franchise, it's just that Steve is kind of damning to their chances. It'd be a little odd to have two construction/resource heavy characters in the same pass like this.

Though I'm not a fan of Overwatch (Gameplay wise) I'll admit I adore the aesthetics of the franchise (Almost Pixar like in their designs, colorful, expressive, most personalities quite charming, good voice acting, etc). I feel a character from it would fit well among the Smash cast. Tracer would be the 'obvious' pick but I feel like she could be rather interesting if they can integrate her 'run and gun' playstyle while working in her 'rewind' ability without it being busted.

Edit: Though I'd also love Scout (TF2 and has a lot of personality and great voice lines they could use) as the 'run and gun' shooter guy, unless we're counting Doom Slayer as also the run & gun guy....then I'm conflicted. XD

I strongly hope we don't get Jonesy, at the very least I hope he's not the next character. It would be three characters that appeal to modern gamers, with no character appealing to classic gamers (like Hayabusa or Arle would) or even in-between (like Crash or Sora would). It's still possible we could get some of those characters too, but would be kinda unfortunate ordering if so. I also don't care for battle royales very much, so I'm neutral on Fortnite. From a personal standpoint, I feel similarly towards Fortnite as I do towards Minecraft: both are neat games, I feel they don't deserve the hate they get, but I'm not really into either. Getting Jonesy right after getting Steve would leave me feeling... empty. It's like, I'm sitting here with plenty of characters I really want, some who I think have very good chances for this pass (Hayabusa, Geno, Crash, Sora if the rumors about him being too expensive are false), some who could get in but I think will probably have to wait longer (Eggman, Spyro) and instead we're focusing so much on what's popular with kids... It would really leave a bitter feeling. I guess it's like, Steve is one thing, his game is the most successful game, he's got mining and crafting which makes for a super deep moveset, and while I didn't want Steve, I don't mind too much appealing mainly to younger gamers one go-around. Getting Jonesy after that would be so disappointing, at least for me.

While Fortnite is probably better off as a Spirit Event for now. I have nothing against them showing up in a hypothetical third pass eventually. Terry has what Ryu has but his own version with a few new features and mechanics from other fighters. They can mix the building and resources with specific long-range weapons that would require reloading. Some specials could place specific structures while others are weapons.

Think of the moveset from Minecraft mixed with what I was thinking a hypothetical GTA moveset would work. Maybe give them something extra like smash attacks in the air or a mechanic where they can spawn a chest that could hold better weapons for them to use in terms of damage or speed.

I get that. Though, if it makes you feel any better, someone from Fortnite would share just enough Minecraft elements that I'd doubt they'd be in the same pass. The age range thing could go either way. Fighter Pass 1 was more so targeting older fans so I wouldn't really see it as too surprising. I don't really have any clue what they're planning but I could see the next character being someone who appeals to all ages like Crash. Or GTA.
