Any character fans don't like: "Poor Sakurai. They forced him to add that stupid character."
Any character fans like: "LOOK AT HOW HAPPY SAKURAI IS!! EVEN HE WANTED THIS TO HAPPEN!!"
Sakurai: *Has identical facial expressions in each trailer.
the only time Sakurai was genuinely different was the terry direct. Knowing the backstory of Sakurai makes sense why tho. dude was cracking jokes about mai, complimenting Iori, and explained EVERY background character. just gotta say he didn't do that for the byleth stage.

If you guys ever want a New Topic for Today, Us on Smashfaqs are discussing this "Rumor" of Apex being in Smash (with an Whole character it seems)

I brought this up before, but this poster brought this up again. Would be crazy if Nintendo is Bribing EA with a Smash Character to support the Switch more
I very much doubt it but I'm always interested to learn about more series (and I would prefer it over Fortnite) so can any apex players tell me who would be the character?

It would absolutely be Wraith. Dimensional traveler who can hear the voices of her alternate universe selves giving her advice.

but no, we're not getting an Apex Legends character, that is the most laughable idea I've ever heard.

isn’t mass effect collection coming to the switch as well? EA owns Bioware
That seems to be in a grey area at the moment. Nothing's confirmed AFAIK - Jeff Grubb did apparently claim (VB article here) that the Mass Effect collection was not part of it. I'm not going to comment if Grubb's spot on or if he's off on this.

Regardless, Mass Effect 3 has a Wii U port, and there's the "courtesy" regardless of whether the collection's one of those seven games or not. While I wouldn't be surprised, I don't consider Mass Effect (or any EA character) a frontrunner.

He must've really regreted Kirby, huh?
Regretted it so much he let the pink puff get a starring role in two Smash stories just to punish him. :4pacman:

Imma press X to doubt chief

Apex is way too new, it started what, two years ago? Least we could get is a spirit event

plus Bella Goth is the superior EA rep don’t @ me
Crazy Dave is the most superior EA rep, but I could still go for some Bob Newbie.

He was my most wanted character when I was 13.

EA? This is how Isaac wins.

...But I guess it isn't the Isaac people expected.

At this point I'd be shocked if Namco got anything. I honestly see Lloyd's mii costume missing as more of a bad thing more than anything, considering that the last 2 dlc characters all came with a single Namco costume each. Lloyd's either in, or his days are numbered, and I'm hedging my bets on the latter option if I'm being truthful, to the point that I kinda expect him to be our next 1 returning costume come FP8.
I agree. At the same time, I'd dare to say that if Lloyd's Costume doesn't return with FP8 after 2 consecutive returning Namco costumes, that could be a good sign for him or a Tales character in the future.

If EA absolutely has to have a character in Smash, I want the character to be a Horned Reaper from Dungeon Keeper. Scythe-based moveset, anyone?

Personally I'd say that the most :083: character that's still in the realm of possibility would be Hatsune Miku. But that's on the levels of technicality that only Sakurai and Nintendo can answer.

The only EA reps I could visibly see are Shepard, PVZ and The Sims (A Plumbob Mii hat would be perfect y'all) all of them seem unlikely

If EA gets a rep, it's more than likely Colonel Shepard from Mass Effect.

Although Isaac Clarke would be a very unusual case cause his games were supposedly banned in Japan, but apparently, Dead Space still has a big following in Japan where not only have there have been references to it in other games and whatnot, but also complete wikis dedicated to translating the entire series from English to Japanese.
Age of Calamity update.

Some young Purah & Robbie spirits or costumes would be nice.
Thank goodness my worries about Purah didn't come to pass. She looks great. Same with Robbie.

Edit: Heck, in Japan, because Isaac Clarke doesn't talk much in his early games, they made a symbol for him that is put before his "speech".

Based on his iconic mask.

I actually think Left 4 Dead is underrated as a Valve rep because of this. It's popular enough in Japan for an arcade game, and there's tons of Japanese mods on the Steam workshop for L4D2.

Saber could be interesting.
Actually, could someone explain that to me, please? The last time I went over a Fate convo, the most I got out of it is that Saber is a Pikachu*. I think a more in-depth explanation is needed.
She was actually said to be the equivalent to Pikachu, but skipping to Saber=Pikachu is funnier

Idk I doubt that

cause Nintendo signed a deal with Disney’s competitor, Universal, to do their theme park and no doubt Disney is PISSED about that
I hate Sora and Kingdom Hearts
But as a major Disney theme park fangirl
People who constantly saying this must have a pretty black and white view on how the cooperate world work

I'd also imagine there would be a hefty price tag.
Isn't that the main reason why I keep hearing from insiders why Sora isn't in Smash

Yeah, Universal is still allowed to have its Marvel attractions even a decade after the Disney buyout, for one thing.

Why do people always keep bringing up Disney buying Nintendo.

It'll never happen. The Japanese government wouldn't allow it. Disney may be big but it's nowhere comparable to an entire government especially how important Nintendo is to gaming especially Japan.

And a reminder that the US government had to get involved in Disney acquiring Fox. Look how long that took.

It feels like since Steve got in that various people think its open season for any currently popular streaming game franchise to get a fighter, even though many of these companies have little to no relationship with Nintendo and its hard to determine if there's even a demand for such characters in Smash anyway.
From what I've seen, people have been speculating based on the previous reveal since E3 2019.
  • Hero and Burger-King get in? That must mean we're getting East Vs. West!
  • Terry Bogard? That must mean the next character must be niche!
  • Byleth? That must mean the next character is a shill pick!
  • Min Min? That must mean the pass is all first-party!
  • (As you just stated) Steve? That must mean the next character is going to be big!

Most of them were of characters that Disney didn't have the rights to at the time.
The whole situation with the Marvel at Universal is complicated but long story short. Disney currently owns the rights to all of the characters that are at the Universal park, But they are not allowed to make rides based off of those characters specifically in the state of Florida.

Universal had signed a licensing agreement with Marvel in 1994, long before Disney bought out Marvel.

She's basically the mascot of the series. Aside from being the main heroine of Fate/Stay Night, she also has many "copies/expies", kinda like how in every new Generation of Pokemon, there's also a "Pikachu"-like Electric Pokemon, like Plusle, Minun, Pachirisu, Emolga, etc. Like Saber doesn't just have alternate versions of herself, like her Alter, Lancer, etc versions, but completely unrelated characters somehow look like her.
Like "Red Saber" from Fate/Extra who is actually Nero and Sakura Saber who is actually Okita Souji and Ruler from Apocrypha who is actually Jeanne D'arc(which, ironically, was who people thought Saber was before it was revealed she was female King Arthur). The only non-"Saber" look-alike who actually has a reason to look like her is Mordred.
Pikachu is not a bad comparison to Saber when much like Pikachu, Saber is the main marketing character for the Fate series that she not only has other versions of herself, but completely unrelated characters who resemble her. Like it says alot when Fate/Grand Order makes fun of "Saberfaces", has a character who is just Artoria from a different galaxy who hunts "Saberfaces" and even has the characters talking about how much they appear like rabbits.

The full story is way more complicated than I wanted to type at that moment but you are correct I made an abridged timeline
-Universal Made IOA
-Fox got the rights to X-men and the Fantastic 4
-Disney Bought Marvel
-Disney, Universal and Fox signed an agreement to keep the Marvel area at Islands of adventure
-Disney bought Fox
-Thus Disney cannot make rides themed around those specific characters in Florida (But disney still makes a little money from the rides anyways)

Pretty much correct and that the line from which Disney can create Marvel Rides is west of the Mississippi River. So from there east Disney cannot which includes Florida. On the west coast they can and have begun with there plan to create a marvel land in Disneyland.

I can't really comment on EA getting a character because I honestly can't think of one that makes a ton of sense for Smash.

Like...Maybe Commander Shepard would be cool? IDK, only EA games I've played extensively were My Sims games way back in the day, lol. Obviously not saying they can't have a character, I just struggle to think of a stand-out.

Assuming he's from Sim City, Dr. Wright does technically hail from an EA franchise.

Nintendo does own the character though. It's kind of a reverse Geno situation
A stage / music from SimCity sounds good, although I dunno if a character could come from that series. Might be more feasible to package a Sims character with that because the two series are distantly related.

We discussing EA now?

That's an interesting idea. While I've never played Plants vs. Zombies, I wouldn't be against a more strategic character (although we've gotten a couple in a row now. Yes I'm counting Byleth, Min Min and Steve as strategic characters because choosing when to attack or use their tools is key for them). I'm just wondering how the plants would synergize in a moveset.

And while we're still on the EA train - I would not mind music coming from the EA Sports side. Yes, it'd be crazy expensive to license most post 2000 stuff (EA Sports steadily shifted from in-house music to licensed songs during the turn of the millenium, and it's stayed licensed ever since 2003ish.) but there are some gems in there. One of those songs:

(And there's the opposite problem with EA Sport's instrumental tracks - in those cases they'd have to track down the artists and get the license. Which is a major shame.)

Sometimes it takes multiple tries to see that getting only certain kinds of characters isn't their ultimate goal. Due to SNK's Latino fandom, there were people who thought CP5 was targeted towards a certain region as well. Due to Byleth and Min Min both debuting on the Switch, there were people expecting us to get a bunch of Switch reps.

I mean, maybe we get 4 regular Sims from the series with each one being from one Sims game? They could all be called Sim by the announcer like Hero. Preferably, they would all have the Sims 4 artstyle with Bella specifically representing The Sims 1?

The Sims themselves are relatively normal looking, but extremely whacky. The green diamond on their head could turn red slowly the more the percentage goes up.

They have a ton of items just always on them like a fire extinguisher, fishing rod, kitchen utensils and etc on top of their ability to fight in a cartoony puff of smoke, slap, or just do a weird quick Crash-like spin mainly to change clothes. You could definitely build a moveset out of that. Maybe include the Cow Plant in some Smash Attacks?

Essentially a more humanoid "realistic" Villager but maybe you can make emotions affect their stats? A final smash where all Supernatural Sims lend a hand would be really neat.
