Upcoming CP7 character...I'd love for a surprise and see someone like Isaac (there's a bunch of others, but Isaac is the one I feel like pointing out atm).
people often like to focus solely on promotion for first-parties but i think isaac has some darkhorse potential as an alternative Big Brawl Fan Request (TM) to geno

Honestly, Byleth was really cool, unlike Roy. Roy is actual trash not gonna lie.
Roy's actually a character I could potentially see getting the Luigi treatment if he stays around in future games. His game plan is different from other FE characters, and the main thing keeping him from being a good addition at this point is that his moveset is so similar to Marth's. If he just got a new side-B and a few more animation changes he would feel pretty original. For good measure replace the counter to double down on being a more aggressive character and I think he'd be golden.

I've had the idea for a while that a wholly reworked Lucina or Lyn would be a good spiritual successor to Roy if he did get removed. Give us a character with that same gameplay philosophy, but without all of the redundancy.

As a consumer I think it's pretty dumb to expect people not to voice their criticism. Can criticism of something you like be annoying? Of course, especially if it's overblown. It's also the only way to get to the big corporations that make the products, and hopefully spur some change. And if you don't agree with the criticisms or the change that they'd cause, then you be vocal too.

"Oh but why are people still complaining years later?" If the complaints haven't been fixed I don't see a reason to stop criticizing.
Thing is, nothing is perfect. Literally nothing. You will never be able to please everybody. Glaring flaws can exist but outside of that quality is often highly subjective.

If I stuck around listening to large circles of criticism and hate towards all of the games, shows, literature and films I liked, my patience would wear extremely thin, extremely quickly.

I enjoy things for what they are and only voice my criticisms when I actually have really strong criticisms. I don't care about the little details, and I don't tend to criticize and complain unless something is blatantly awful on every single front.

But hey, that's just me.

I think everyone is just sick and tired of being sick and tired...of waiting.

So at this point, any discussion seems welcome outside of "So guys...AnNoUcEmEnt ToDay?"

Idk about anyone else, but I hopped off the Next Week train long ago.

I said this weeks ago, but I'm just ready to wake up and see a bunch of new pages in this thread, letting me know that there's probably been some news regarding the upcoming character, and that this waiting period can finally come to an end.

Until next time, that is :thedorf:
I hopped off the Next Week train long ago as well. This pretty much sums up the current speculation period in this fanbase and especially this forum.

Thing is I'm filling my free time out with shows I need to catch up with as well as several other video games that I'm really enjoying. And that's while I'm also at a point in my life where I'm searching for my first job and preparing myself for that.

My life's busy and entertained enough as is. I'm in no hurry to for CP7 to be revealed from a personal standpoint.

Sounds sus
KoP must be the imposter
Nice try ,I saw you vent.

Well if you want an actual new topic...

How about Agumon? Do you think a Digimon has a place in Smash?
Yeah, it's a franchise pretty much everyone knows as well as a genre that doesn't have a playable fighter yet. I think he's the most interesting Namco character by far. Issue is that Digimon seems to be less associated with video games and more with the anime nowadays.

Nah. Tamagotchis aren't games. With game & watch you can tell it's a game because it has game in the title. How are you supposed to know you're playing a game on a tamagotchi if it doesn't say game in it's title? Do you know you're playing a game when you're playing digimon?

So no! Agumon is not a video game character and has no place in Smash! That's my final answer! /s

Alright, hear me out:

Among Us costumes for Mii Fighters.

Discuss.
That brings up a point about Mii character costumes like Builder Mario or the Link costumes and how they don't allow you to change the colours. Why can't I turn Sans' hoodie green?

I think Lyn could sorta take up the aggressive swordfighter gameplay, but not entirely. The idea I have for her is that her sword attacks come out stupid fast but have horrendous endlag. However, actually landing the hit will decrease the endlag significantly (Credit to Cutie Gwen Cutie Gwen for that idea), so her attacks aren't painfully slow. While this would keep some of the aggression from Roy, it would add another layer of strategy that would separate them.

That being said, I have another guy in mind who might fill the "rushdown swordfighter" archetype, with a decent amount of history and legacy to boot. Just so long as Nintendo's willing to sort things out with his owners...

I think people who use the red costumes are sus.

Ironically enough because of the kill animations, they'd fit all 3 Mii classes. Among Us is surprisingly old but sadly it's newfound fame was likely far too recent
You raise a good point there.

With it's only recent surge in popularity in mind, I wouldn't declare it impossible, per say, but it's best shot of happening at this point is as a very last-minute thing. If anything, it'd probably have to be part of the very last set of DLC Mii costumes as the game's support for new DLC comes to an end.

Wouldn't mind at all.

The costume would need more particle effects though. To make it even more sus.

How about fall guys. It got decently popular.
Well, decently popular is an understatement.

Anyhow, it and Among Us are (likely) only possible as Mii Costumes if the Mii Costumes are decided post FP2.

I would like that, but then that'd need Fall Guys' SFX to really get the authentic Fall Guys experience.

Has Japan joined in the recent fixation with Among Us? Undertale and Cuphead were both pretty big hits over there which is probably a prerequisite to getting a Mii Costume.

I feel like mii costumes can be extremely easy to do though. I'm curious which date sakurai had Toby Fox over. In any case, if they do feel like making a fall guys costume, that'd be funny.

I think the closest thing we probably have in terms of rough timespan is of when the Cuphead guys had their interview asking for Cuphead in Smash and its eventual Mii costume reveal.
(Which I think was about 8 months if I recall...)

Belated response since the poster doesn't seem to be active in the forums anymore: Sure.

There's no shortage of Wukongs / Gokus in video games (I find it rather telling that all three of the biggest MOBAs - LoL, Dota 2 and SMITE - all have a Monkey King as a playable character, with the different incarnations referencing different aspects of the original character's abilities).

Sorry for the late reply.

I do think that Lyn would be a different take on rushdown than Roy. She likely wouldn't have the same early kills or sweetspot mechanics, but I think she would have a slightly better combo game to make up for it. It just makes sense for a character who's basically a myrmidon. Better frame data on hit sounds like another way to make players think twice about throwing out attacks that might whiff. It's a good idea, but I don't think that would be mutually exclusive from an aggressive playstyle. Even Roy has to be careful around shields (at least historically). She most definitely wouldn't have hilt sweetspots.

My thought was that she could be (not have to be) added in a similar way to how Toon Link was. Both he and Young Link were focused on using projectiles as their main tool in neutral, but had differences in the specifics of how that translated to their overall gameplay. They are different, but their "spot" filled a similar role. Lyn is just one character that has the potential to be a combo character with large disjoints.

I always imagined an original Lucina playing somewhat similarly to Nanase in Undernight, if you are familiar. Basically having a lot of moves that put a disjoint in front but then she would move forward behind it, forcing a more aggressive playstyle because you're going to be in people's faces by necessity.

I can't say I know enough about Adol to comment on his playstyle, but he seems cool. I've liked all of his more modern designs.

Oh yeah, one thing I forgot to mention: Everything from Platinum to Black 2 and White 2 were the apex of the series. You can't change my mind.

X and Y, OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire and Sun and Moon were still good and all, but pretty flawed in a way the above ones weren't.
The DS games being the pinnacle make me think Pokemon needs to go back to four-year-long gaps between gens, as that's what they were preceded by. If people are starving for new Pokemon games, let them play spinoffs Game Freak doesn't make, and if they want new Pokemon in general, go back to the days where we'd know about Togepi and Marill and Munchlax and Lucario for years before we could actually catch them.

A friend of mine pointed out that NoA's twitter unpinned their pinned tweet. Of course, not everything is Smash, but one would think they would've already pinned one of the Pokemon ones if that was the plan.

EDIT: On second thought, the AC update comes out tomorrow, so...

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire I'd honestly put alongside Black and White 2. They are fantastic games.

Platinum and the Gen 2 Remakes, though? The kings of Pokemon. Nothing has touched those games. The only ones that come close are Emerald, FireRed/LeafGreen, Black & White 2 and OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire. Gen 4 in my opinion was the best generation of Pokemon.

Is there less of a chance for a Smash announcement tomorrow (as in, announcing a date for a presentation) since the Animal Crossing update comes out tomorrow? I'd imagine Nintendo is going to flood their social media with Animal Crossing tomorrow.

If not tomorrow there's still also Thursday and Friday, the latter I give the latest for this week of an announcement otherwise next week it is.

When FP2 ends, what are all of you going to do? Speculate about the next Smash game? That game isn't coming out in literally years, or it may not even come out.

Mostly play with the characters released. Unless they announced a Smash Ultimate Deluxe for future consoles in which case, the speculation hype train continues.
