Late, but I apologize for my mental breakdown I had some hours ago.

I think I freaked out for nothing there.

Anyways...
Plot twist

What if Fighter 11 was actually just Echoes?
Trust me, there will not be any echo-fighters in FP2.

Pretty sure that was just a joke.

In all seriousness, I wouldn’t mind one of the passes being like...5 echoes along with 3 stages that are more or less the same as stages we already have but sort of different. We could even have Echo-based Spirits and music that’s slightly different from what we have now. It’s the Echo pack lol

Random: Harada from Namco just mentioned in their Tekken 7 Season Pass 4 stream, which is happening right now, when talking about netcode improvements, that Sakurai asked him about him in regards to the online, as in looking for ways to improve Smash Ultimate. Or that's what I understood lmao

After getting a better understanding of Xenoblade Chronicles 2's mechanics, I have another idea for how Rex & Pyra/Mythra could work. It's not perfect but...hear me out.

In this idea, Rex has 4 meters: one for each Special Move. His Neutral Special is Blade Combo, which cannot be used at the start of a match. Instead, you must first land his other Special Moves. His other Special Moves are as follows:
  • Up Special: Double Spinning Edge-This move works a lot like Link's Spin Attack. On the ground it is a two hit sword slash that can also hit behind him if an opponent rushes in too quickly to punish it. In the air, it brings him up a bit. It's not a great recovery, but it's decently powerful, and a good air finisher. Since it has two hits
  • Side Special: Anchor Shot Ha!-Rex fires his anchor straight forward, and trips any opponent who gets hit by the move. It's an automatic tech chase, though Rex isn't particularly fast, so he won't be able to take advantage at max range.
  • Down Special: Rolling Smash-Rex flips in and smashes the Aegis Sword on the ground. It's a little slow, but it's decently powerful, and you can anti-air opponents with it if they're being careless.
Whenever you hit an opponent with a normal attack, it will fill up the meter for the Up, Down, and Side Specials. When their respective meters are full, you can consume them to combo into them from the normals, which, at least attempts to, guarantee the hit, and makes them a bit more powerful. EDIT: I'd also allow you to combo Special Moves together if they're charged, though I wouldn't try to guarantee a hit in that situation. Mostly because it would mitigate the usefulness of Anchor Shot.

Once you've landed the Blade Combo meter, you can have either Pyra or Mythra use their Blade Combos, which are flashy attacks that can do a lot of damage, have a lot of K.O. power, or have some sort of utility at the cost of being super laggy at the start. These...don't combo for obvious reasons (even though they do in Xenoblade Chronicles 2).

One thing I forgot when making this idea was the Blade Switch mechanic. Perhaps you can switch blades by tapping the button, and perform Blade Combos by holding it?

EDIT EDIT: Sword Bash is a Smash Attack, because why on Earth would I make it a Special Move if we're not doing all of them?

I would be totally fine supporting Impa in Smash but, again, I can envision what her pass would look like. Do we need two BoTW-themed stages?
Actually, Impa's stage would be able to differentiate itself from the Great Plateau Tower quite well. There would be the Breath of the Wild stage and the Breath of the Wild stage where EVERYONE %$#@ING DIES :4pacman:

A shrine stage would be really pretty in Super Smash Bros.'s artstyle methinks.

Still don't think Impa's really on the table though...

That's absolutely good to hear still. While they can't do everything obviously, it does show that important voices within both Nintendo and Bamco are willing to improve the online experience. Sure, neither company has a lot of experts at rollback, but it's a step in the right direction.

Her stage would be the Hidden Village of the Leaf.
That sounds like a round-about way to include something Naruto-y, and after they included Goku-with-Spirit-Bomb-Magic-Burst (:ulthero3:) why not?

Oh, so that's how FP2 references WoL. :4pacman:

I wish Nightmare wasn't the only Soul Calibur character we talked about in terms of Smash. Admittedly, Nightmare is my preferred choice for Soul Calibur, but it's so weird how literally no one else is brought up. I was at least expecting a mention of Mitsurugi when talking about the potential competition Nightmare has but nope.

I would have mentioned him long before now if I had actually remembered his name.

To be fair, Nightmare is the incarnation of the sword the story circles around (No, not the Soulcalibur, surprisingly enough). Though, after Min Min, I feel like a game like Soulcalibur could have a character besides Nightmare. Seigfried's the most recurring protagonist, Xianghua and Kilik are recurring major characters and stared in the most recent installment, Talim won the popularity poll, etc. Though, I don't know much about Soulcalibur, so it's kinda hard for me to say.

I have to say, I've bought into Shroob Shroob 's line of reasoning that if a Mario character doesn't show up now then it's highly likely we aren't getting a Mario character in this pass. They had plenty of time to line up development so that this character would coincide with the 35th anniversary and would have done so if there is a character related. We should be getting a reveal soon (though, that has been said a lot over the last month and a half) so we can find out exactly what direction Nintendo took.

Yeah, the only way I see them unveiling a Super Mario character now is if they didn't want to do a full reveal and also knew that a Super Mario guessing game would inevitably give them quite the backlash regardless of the actual fighter they picked.

Did not know about this.

I still don't think Klonoa has a reasonable shot but, hey at least we may get a Klonoa game again.
Bro, I don't even put energy behind chanting "Klonoa 4 Smash" anymore. After the comic and movie got cancelled, I just want my Lunatea's Veil remake so I can get some closure.

Soulcalibur has more than a handful of potential candidates.

There's always Nightmare/Siegfried.

Kilik got to be the main protagonist in the latest installment.

Mitsurugi is always around for whatever reason and has being pitted against a number of the characters that have crossed over like Darth Vader, Geralt, and Haohmaru.

Sophitia was the first protagonist in Soul Edge and appeared in nearly every game since, with the one game she was absent from having her children as the lead characters.

Yoshimitsu is the only Soulcalibur character that has appeared in another fighting game as far as I know (I might be wrong).

In regards to fan favorite characters, there's Talim, Taki, Ivy, among others.

I mean...

I think this image alone explains why he's usually the one people default to.

I'm surprised anyone remembered that lol.

But that's my idea mainly. If the next character isn't Mario, then I have to take pause at the idea of one coming period. This is the first time, from my memory at least, that they've actually gone out of their way to promote one of these tournaments as a big deal, to the point it got included in the Mario Direct, if the next character isn't from Mario, or in the off chance they also show off CP8 and CP8 isn't shown off to BE from Mario, then I just don't expect one period.
