It also seems like a timing mechanic would better fit with a potential Rhythm Heaven rep. Of course, we know that ain't happening anytime soon.
I merely recall timed hits being stronger being a mechanic in SMRPG, whether it's actually implemented is up to devs if it ever comes down to it.

Casual fans never dropped him though.

Competitive players go by different standards.
can confirm, Banjo's my go-to for any particularly frustrating Spirit Board additions. LIFESAVER for that damn Primrose fight

Hey what’s the stupidest thing you want in this game (outside of enjoyment)
Outside of Little Mac's Side B, I'd say shortening the lag on B-K's Grenade so they can sprint back and grab it sooner.

B-K's Grenade is good - it's just overshadowed by Snake's Frame 1 (aka. instant) Grenade, which can be used to combo-break and almost anything else. I honestly think that's one major reason why B-K hasn't seen much competitive play.

People generally tend to assume that Sakurai is the biggest fan of a character just because he mentioned them as a possibility, I feel. :054:
Oh yes, that. Considering he has streamed FallOut in the past (and IIRC some took that as a hint) I can only wonder about which kind of meltdown would have happened had he streamed a multiplayer-centric game like Rocket League, LoL or PUBG / Fortnite.

This mf seriously calling GOTY nominee MGSV a bad game over freaking Snake's Revenge
I mean I believe MGSV has some serious problems, but it's still really enjoyable. It has the best control in the entire generation, at least for 3rd person games. Gameplay-wise it's great.

As of now, I'm pretty optimistic about this pass.

Personally, Min Min is my favorite DLC character so far. She feels WAY different from the rest of the roster, and I had some history with her game of origin prior to her announcement. I know most people would probably place her toward the bottom because ARMS isn't a big deal to them, but I'm more than satisfied with Min Min, even if she wasn't even my first or second choice.

Don't think I would've bought the pass just for her, but if I can get just one more character that brings just as much (or more) hype as Min Min, I'd consider this pass a win for me.
I don't think she will be the most popular DLC among fans, but it's not that strange to like her. I'm having more fun with her than with Banjo, and I'm enjoying her as much as I did with Byleth or Hero, for example.
She's great. And I lowkey want Springman to be in the next Smash game, even if as an echo, like Chrom.

Same. I think now that people view Master Chief in the realm of possibility, Scorpion is one of those never-ever characters that would blindside people for sure, kinda like Cloud and Joker did. People don’t expect him because “Mortal Kombat banned in Japan”, but Injustice has shown that he can be toned down and still be in character and the series is incredibly iconic, so who knows.
I'm very optimistic when it comes to Scorpion getting into Smash. Not as in like, right this second, but in general. I could disprove the whole "MK banned in Japan" as many times as I have to, I'll still always support him and think of him as an amazing inclusion both as a representative of gaming history and as an interesting fighter.

I hate that this is the case. It's like Comp players have completely forgotten the roots of the games they claim to love. They just hate and attack anything and everything that doesn't fit into their narrow definition of "fun"

Nekoo Nekoo I agree with you on the whole "No one is gonna say anything" about Smash. At this point, I think we will get lucky if Nintendo messes up (Terry) which will open the door for people to say something.

Also, Sabi can eat the biggest of D****. Sorry for your friends.

I do feel like Geno would be a more straight-forward character then what others make him out to be. I'm sure he'd have some neat stuff, but I see him more in the vein of Mario.

I love Phantasy Star (IV and PSO are some of my fav games of all time) and been supporting it in Smash for a while, but after spending 500 hours on PSO2 i REALLY want a Phantasy Star character more than any other SEGA rep rn.

Min Min was my go-to for that one Spirit Battle. Just equip any two Assist Killers you have and, as Min Min, deal with Black Knight from far away (preferably with Megawatt as Min Min’s right ARM).

Agreed, though I could see them doing something similar with Duck Hunts side B. And that would kind of be it.

So what are people hoping for with this upcoming Direct? Personally, the Mario collection and MAYBE something Smash, if we are lucky.

You joke but this is 100% going to happen if Geno ever actually gets in.

The support for:ultbanjokazooie: was arguably just as vocal and lasted even longer than that of Geno's and they still dropped them after a month or two.
Holy ****.
Ok, I gotta complaint about our little community.

I'm irritated that people continue to say this, "Everyone wanted [insert extremely popular character] but whenever they get in people drop them a week later", I'm paraphrasing but this is the most untrue thing I've ever heard thrown around these boards.

There are 5 specific characters that I pulled for ever since I've been on these boards that made it into Ultimate. 6 YEARS of supporting these characters, of waiting for those characters. They are Snake, K. Rool, Ridley, Simon, and Banjo. Those 5 have carried me through my entire time on these boards because of my love for them, and what? Just because they're not new means that I'm over them? There are 4 of those that I go back to multiple times each time I play. They are at the top of my playtime list and they are well deserving. Ridley is the only character that I didn't jive with gameplay wise and yet I still get a little sense of childhood joy everytime I see his scary ass face on the roster. I play Snake the first game EVERY TIME I boot up Ultimate. I play Banjo all the time on different Nintendo stages, especially Mario, because of the childlike wonder that brings me. I play as K. Rool all the time because how goofy and fun his animations are. I play Simon all the time because of how happy it makes me to see one of my favorite franchises alive and well.

So, please, please stop saying this phrase. It is just incorrect. Ultimate has been out for over a year and I still haven't gotten over that Snake, Simon, ****ing Ridley, ****ing K. Rool, MOTHA ****ING BANJO-KAZOOIE, are in Smash. Everytime I see them, everytime I play them, it just makes me happy. And I'll probably never lose that feeling. And I'm 100% sure this isn't just me.
The end goal was to get them in. And they did that. It would be so obnoxious if Banjo or K. Rool or Ridley fans came into this thread and ONLY talked about how “I’m so glad my favorite character is in” when other people are out here speculating and hoping for other characters. Which would you prefer?

I don't think that having a different definition of fun is bad.

If anything it just shows the strength of the game.

tbh, while it's a really bad thing to judge, I barely fight any Banjo even in casual or Quickplay. But I'm sure his fans are happy, it's all that matters in the end

Outside of "please don't group people under one banner", here's MewtwoKing demonstrating something:

Yes, a lot of competitive players also play casually at times. They can certainly have just fun. And yes, competitive players focus on different aspects, but in their case, prize money is often on the line. The "Stop Having Fun" Guys (aka Elitists) don't make up near 100 % of the competitive community.

I would say SMTV news, but I think I'll be dead before that game ever comes out.

Would love to pick that game up! Hopefully there is a NMH 1 & 2 bundle at some point, unless I missed it.
I hope so as well. NMH3 seems to be open world like NMH1, so maybe some type of remastering is a goal in the future years down the line.

Was... was that almost a full, unintentional recreation of one particular scene in the F-Zero anime!?

But yeah, competitive and fun walk hand in hand more than people give it credit for. Banjo and Kazooie are still my most played DLC characters by far.

As much as I want Kiryu or Arle, I love Sega as much as I love Capcom and would pop off for some many additions. Either Alis Landale or the exosuit characters from PSO would be so hype for me. Or anyone from PSII. Sega has so many amazing series and potential reps.

Well, getting confirmations on the Mario remasters, and the rumored new Metroid game as well as new info on BotW2 would be nice. . . but honestly, what I kinda want the most right now is some new content for XCDE. Some new challenge battles and costumes would be fine already.

I'm more surprised a 10 year old could fathom the unnecessary complex story of Kingdom Hearts.

I'm always hoping for the same thing: New rhythm heaven, Metroid 2d and F-zero. But honestly I just want games in general. Bravely default 2 and No more heroes 3 looks promising, but I'm not that interested into them and I'm not really a Zelda fan, so I don't really care about botw 2. I just hope there's other thing coming in the future (near or not). I'm excited to see more about those rumore Mario remaster, but I hope it will be good remaster and not just hd filter on old games.

Look, I wanted a name and I took the first name I could think of that's relevant enough in both the hardcore smash speculation scene and among the casual public.

I would prefer them to actually play the characters they say they wanted after the hype from their inclusion dies down. As long as they do that like the guy you quoted we're gucci.

If most Smash streamers play like this then I take back what I said. That's actually pretty awesome.
Btw this clip is six years old, does anyone knows if he still plays like this on his streams? I haven't watched M2K in ages.

I quoted myself but yeah, most of us speculators are going to play the character we’ve been pulling for. The competitive seen won’t do that. To be completely blunt. If they ain’t top tier they likely won’t get played.

I want Nei and Rika (Rika is a canon clone of Nei) with claw combat taken from the pso games

A Arks Operative (Player character in PSO2) would be a likely choice too
