The Geno Thread has largely become an echo chamber in favor of Geno following the mass exodus of more critical fans from the thread as a result of the large drama previously. Since then, only those heavily in favor of Geno frequent the thread.

The point Will made also stands, that supposed "insiders" are always hearing this, that, or the other thing about Geno. Since it aligns with what they want to believe, it's taken as fact, even though it'd be outed as fiction literally everywhere else.

But I'd rather we not get into more drama involving the Geno Thread. I'd rather leave them be and let things straighten themselves out as they will.

They've been wrong plenty of times and they're still there, giving out the same "insider" info.

They either have large amounts of forgiveness or they just like them as people and could care less about what information they give. I'd probably hold the latter option in higher regard, they seem to like people like Fatman. I don't know if they befriend him solely for his supposed leaks, but they seem to have a tight bond with each other.

I would say "Why don't you ask the thread yourself?" but I doubt you'd make it out of there without either a hostile response or an infraction for an honest question.

I'd say the Geno thread is too forgiving, or like the "insider" too much to see the faults in what they are believing. Plus, if it is the same info, it isn't going to be right at all if it is the same and is kept being used.

I'm glad to see that you're questioning the information around you.

To take a crack at your questions, if the "insider" information is wrong, it's just speculation; no harm no foul. And until it's wrong, it's fact because they want it to be true. Repeat ad nauseam.

Thus is the double standard of the pseudo-insider.

Got to deal with information regarding if it's possibly true or not with a Grain of Salt. In my past experience, I did believe some only to be heavily disappointed with Bayonetta as the Final DLC pick in smash 4 (Thought one of my personal picks would have made it all in). Now, I carefully make my choices.

resetera hasn't kicked him out yet so he's been credible in some areas but he also missed the mark with march direct dates

I don't know how credible he is. Apparently he actually had sources, but then stuff went down with Sabi that got outed in all the drama there, so I don't really know what to say.

The 20th is a Monday though, so I doubt it occurring.

I don't understand why those in the Geno thread think Geno is next as a Smash reveal? I mean, it could be anyone at all. I tried telling them to control their expectations before, but they insist on believing Geno is next, still. Why act blind to the facts and evidence against Geno? Why not try to be logical and reasonable when expecting things?

I think Arle have way more chance than Sakura. Puyo puyo is way bigger than Sakura wars and Arle have more fan demand. I think that if we do have a second Sega rep realistically it will be either Kiryu or Arle.

I like puyo puyo as much as the next guy but that series feels more like something that would get a spirit event more than a playable character.

Because the point you made was "But it's impressive cause it was first." Only IT WASN'T FIRST.

I consider all those early examples of handheld gaming to be impressive, including the Game & Watch because of the success they had and the creative and successful execution of the idea.

My original point though was that a character should have to have a good game to be in Smash. Not have an "impressive within a very specific set of qualifications" game to be in Smash.

Cool, but you must be aware that you're in the minority in your opinions of what constitutes "good games", so I don't know why you believe that your standard should or even could be upheld.

Tbh, Zippo kinda seems full of **** this time IMO. His big claim is the ports in the Mario Collection are just slightly upscaled with widescreen support, while 3D World is going to get the cool ****. Not only does this go against every other insider, who all claimed that the Collection is the main course and 3D World is just kinda there, but I just can't see Nintendo intentionally half-assing what is likely going to be their big holiday game. The Collection has big nostalgia bucks behind it and Nintendo knows they're rereleasing 3 of the most celebrated games of the recent past, it would be very strange if that didn't get the attention but a 7 year-old game that was never super popular to begin with did.

Yeah, it is a shame people get bashed and mistreated over a video game character. I remember someone saying they left GameFAQs because someone sent them a death threat over wanting Geno in Smash. Some people have no sense of maturity, or moral.

The way I see it, Zippo backing the date doesn't really matter much when we have much more reputable insiders backing it.

The July 20th direct was already looking good before Zippo's input, and if the direct does indeed happen on the date, it doesn't really bolster his reputation that much when, again, other insiders already backed it beforehand.

The funny thing is that this whole "Insiders hint to Geno" is that from what I know is that lots of actual insiders don't want to touch smash with a 85 foot long stick. They had enough of how toxic the community is, when in others fighting games leaking character is normal and just like a "oh yes my favorite is in" or "oh ****, well next time" smash fans are seens as absolutely toxic and vivid. Sooo...Yeah.
Add to that with Nintendo stopping lots of ambassador and drying information relayed around to journalists and ambassador. And yeah... I HARDLY believe that there any hint around any characters, if there was, it wouldn't be out at all.

Sure, there leaks and rumours about the july directs and the mario collection for like, two months now "inside" but for smash? Lmao, though luck, anyone who know won't talk or don't want to talk about it. Or just straight up don't know with how hard this info is kept.

And it's not having a Legacy XP mods that had Waluigi and Geno being strike down or whatever others things that are heard in the geno thread that boost his chance up.
