I'm not one to usually dislike a character, because I'm pretty content with whatever you throw at me, but
If we did get Cinderace, for like a month, there'd be just swathes of "TOO MANY FIRE STARTERS"
And then people would suddenly realize
"...too many swordsmen?"
"...too many fire starters?"
"....is this a secret 9th Fire Emblem rep?"

I hope he's fun to play at least.
Like I know people ragged on Incineroar but I liked his design and inspiration.
Cinderace does nothing for me.

Cinderace would be a large disappointment for me however i guess he would be like maybe captain falcon speed and have some interesting moves. So moveset wise it would be cool but character and reveal wise imma be thinking about the next fighter immediately.
Honestly? I'm gonna differ from the norm here somewhat (probably because of my competitive lens, but whatever).
Cinderace has some potential that could be intriguing. Not just as a high tempo pressure character a la
, or , but also as a character with potentially dangerous mixup / crossup options and some moves it can call its own (Pyro Ball and Double-Edge for example). Sure, it'd be another fire Pokemon, but I'm not too fussed about that.

I really could see a Form Changing Urshifu, one based on dealing heavy damage while the other is about racking up damage through quick hits instead of powerful blows, making the cut. It’d be great marketing for Nintendo on a Smash and Pokémon standpoint as they’d appeal to one another.
“Urshifu doesn’t change forms in game. Sakurai likes to stay true to character.” Just like Greninja and his water blades, Captain Falcon and literally all his moves, and Ness’ special attacks. The man has been given creative liberties before.

I really like Cinderace, I bet he could get a fun projectile-manipulation set with his fireball. I think there’s gonna be a Gen 8 Pokémon either way so Cinderace wouldn’t replace some very hype third party either way.

What does the leak say? I thought Vergeben had been discredited awhile back with some of his leaked information not coming to light. I could be wrong though.
Not trying to offend because everyone is entitled to the characters they want, but if that’s our final characters for Ultimate, I’m kind of disappointed.

I think Cinderace would have been a good choice had Decidueye been the Gen 7 rep, especially since I like the design more than Rillaboom. I also would have liked that Decidueye would have given us a ghost type to work with. But if we’re going to get another Pokémon rep, I hope it’s something different.
I’m also mixed on whether we will get another Pokémon rep. I tempted fate by saying since so many Pokémon veterans returned, there was no need for a Pokémon character in the base (intentionally not considering marketing/promotional reasons, which I try to avoid to make speculation fun). So a Pokémon character is certainly likely in order to promote Sword and Shield DLC, an argument against is DLC characters are a means to include series with new unique fighters not in the base. Fire Emblem didn’t get a unique character in the base, so Byleth makes sense within that framework.
So going by that, Rex makes more sense, particularly since Sakurai mentioned Rex as a character that would have been in Ultimate or the first Fighter’s Pass had the timing worked out. On the flip side, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 already has music in the game, while Sword and Shield doesn’t. So I can see it going either way, or even the third option, both being in. But I don’t think either is a lock.
And in terms of personal tastes, I’d rather have characters in the final Fighter’s Pass whose series doesn’t have a playable character, stage or music in the game all ready. While all of my most wanted are third party, I’d be excited for first party characters whose series are least represented already.

As far as Smash goes it basically just says that the ARMS character is a multiple characters in one deal, with Spring Man, Ribbon Girl and Min Min being mentioned. It also says that Heihachi will guest star in a game, although that doesn't necessarily have to do with Smash, and with how lax Vergeben's source is about leaking Smash info I kinda doubt that's it. The whole thing is a bit dubious though as it's Sabi that claims that Vergeben sent him this info in a PM, so take it with a grain of salt, even if the PM is true there's probably a reason Vergeben hasn't gone public with this information yet himself.
As far as I know Vergeben hasn't been discredited, his Minecraft claim remains the only significant stain on his track record when it comes to Smash.

Tbh you could maybe argue Lucario as while his gimmick is based on his aura, it doesn't actually show up while battling minus attacks like aura sphere or aesthetic touches. It would probably be about as large a creative liberty as that was

It was proven fake. The PS5 stream had no Bloodbourne or Final Fantasy 16.

The partner system seems very dumbed down though. The focus seems to be more on the ring system and Mario's own abilities. There's also no real substitute for the badge system so far.
Personally, it's closer to what I wanted compared to SS or CS, yes, but still not really hitting the mark.

Why the hell are people still putting faith in that list we don't even know was actually made by Verge? We already established that a ****ton of it was already leaked, with the P4G Steam port already flying around due to Denuvo leaks like 2 days before Sabi claimed Verge said it

It's not what I wanted. From the looks of it there is no EXP or leveling system so the battles are completely pointless just like Sticker Star. Intelligent Systems just can't seem to stop reinventing the wheel when the wheel was already perfect in the first two games.

At this point I think Origami King is just doing its own thing as far as news and that any significant stream of Nintendo videos/reveals are coming next week, Smash included. With how much PS5 news is still dominating online discussion, it feels like it makes sense to wait till that's subsided after a few days and have the headlines all to the themselves after the weekend.

I didn't notice that. We still could be surprised, but yeah it's looking like another bad Paper Mario game. If there's no battle incentive, then you'll actively want to not interact with the RPG part of the RPG, and it looks like partners are done Ōkamiden style, which isn't inherently bad, but with the super light tone of the game, I'm not convinced they will get us to care about these partners if they only show up for a small portion of the game. There's also a chance that the partners are intentionally underpowered, which makes them pointless as well.

To play devil's advocate, it's possible that Verge confused Project Athia (a new game made by Square using FFXV's Luminous engine) for FFXVI. Imrhan Khan had this to say about the game .
Even so, we can't say this with confidence if Vergeben himself doesn't come out to make a comment about the leaked DM.
EDIT. Also, like other users already said before me, we need to keep in mind that 75% of that list is composed of rumors that have surfaced in last to week.
Suffice to say that Vergeben's history of piggybacking of reliable insiders and Sabi's history of lying about receiving info from him don't inspire much confidence in the DM's few original and vague claims.
So every single rumor I heard about FFXVI was correct...except they don't appear to be calling it FFXVI.
