Alright then, I just personally think he’d be very cool. Admittedly I’m not sure what differences he’d have aside from weight, some move differences, and his personality, I just thought it was a cool idea and I think he could be a fun Mario alternative...

I dunno, it was already stretching it in Mario Kart personally. At this point I don't care I wouldn't complain but come on lol
Yeah I guess so...I just always saw Metal Mario as this cool rival-clone, in Smash 64 and Kart and whatever, like Dark Link or Metal Sonic or something.
I would be totally OK with Paper Mario as a new rep and actually think he has very high chances to get in especially today. I consider him a matter of when rather than if honestly, he deserves it and has extremely interesting moveset potential.
No. Three Links make more sense than three Marios from my point of view (cmon Young Link, I main u): Are we a joke to you?
I'm absolutely certain Octolings have no chance this time around. Cannot see them coming up with an entirely new moveset instead than making them an Inkling echo, and this pass won't feature echoes. Could see the rest happening though.
It only makes sense for Octolings to be Inklings echo
I'm personally expecting 76: Spring Man, 77: Paper Mario, 78: Travis Touchdown, 79: Ryu Hayabusa

there's other weapons besides the ones the Inklings use. They could be unique. Isabelle has a sizeable amount of differences from Villager, after all

Yep. Isabelle and Villager are different. The aerials are the same tho (except for neutral air)
Technically they can but I don't think they would considered worthy of doing it since they could 100% work as an echo. I think they'll have more chances once next Smash comes around, they're done for this one though.
If they ever make Funky an echo of DK, the neutral special, in my opinion, wouldn't make sense.
Even half of Dark Samus' moveset does not make sense since she never used those attacks but they realized that while she was requested enough to appear in the game, she wasn't worthy of too much work, they saw the opportunity of making her an echo and they did. Even Daisy, Dr. Mario etc have movesets which don't represent the character completely right but they were not important enough to deserve something bigger.
Yeah. I think it would make for a fun easter egg if Mario was referred to as Metal Mario in Metal Smash, but I don't think he would bring much to the table as a full character (I mean, I guess he'd be ok as an Echo Fighter but like, why?). Honestly, a more fully decloned Dr. Mario would be better. There's quite a bit of missed opportunities there.
You don't have to worry about not responding to things on a previous page. People only get mad if you bring up an issue from 8+ pages back and the conversation has since moved on.
I think the issue with them is that these characters don't do anything that Link prime doesn't do. There's a ton of missed opportunities here.

I don't think Ken was anywhere near as requested as DS, Chrom or Daisy
Some of them, and Octolings aren't nearly as requested as those other characters.
The Funky Flair would be him beating you to death with the surfboard

in Street Fighter, yes. I don't think he was particularly demanded for Smash though. ppl did agree he was a no brainer for an Echo tho, regardless of whether or not they wanted him

Isn't Richter more popular in Japan or something? I figured the additions of Simon and Richter were a "pleasing both the West and East" sort of deal.

My only exposure to Richter pre-Smash was the "WHAT IS A MAN?" scene that became somewhat of a meme

Probably because Shadow despite looking like Sonic has different abilities notably Chaos Emeralds and the fact he uses guns in some games.
they let Bayonetta, Snake and Joker in tho
I think he simply didn't have the time honestly. Shadow would be perfect as an echo, he probably just didn't care enough to bother
Probably should had been a little more clear. When I said uses guns I meant use them for his moveset.
