To be fair Cloud is way more iconic than Noctis, and Toon link basically have his own sub-series (Wind waker and Phantom hourglass and later spirit track). Dark Samus is a easy echo and was also very popular. Rex might lose his popularity depending where the Xenoblade franchise is heading.

Mainline Xenoblade (1, 2, Torna) has different protagonists each. 3 probably won't have Rex as the protag.
The thing that it's putting me off for a BOTW rep is the fact that the bonus Mii Costume is the Ancient Armor set. Why not wait for a BOTW Character to put it in the Mii lineup.
Why not bring back the Virtua Fighter costumes with the Sega character, like the Sonic ones?

I mean, A character doesn't need to be tied to relevant Mii costumes. Banjo and Byleth both got Mii costumes revealed in their presentations that had nothing to do with either of their franchises.
Better example would be expecting Lightning now that's there's Noctis.
Lucario was also included in that game. If we get two new Xenoblade characters one might be Rex, but we won't, because Xenoblade isn't Pokemon. It isn't even Fire Emblem.
It wasn't when the roster was chosen. Also Toon Link is a clone, and late priority in Brawl.
Are you expecting Rex to be a clone? The characters you're comparing him to get in under different circumstances than unique first-parties. They're not equatable.
Yeah, we talked about it like a month or two back. This isn't the most recent column from Sakurai, I guess Source Gaming just got around to posting the translation or something.

Tbf a big part of what got Chrom in was being a clone. And seemingly a late-addition one at that. I don't really see that as a plausible path for Rex.
Other than Balloon Fighter, Excitebiker, Bubbles, Pac-Man, etc etc etc

Right now I think the only ARMS rep possible is Ribbon Girl as she is like the co-star of the series. She has a Mii COstume but still can see it.
I thought most Insiders weren't leaking anything anymore given how much crackdown nintendo has. I was expecting no direct news to be leaked before nintendo now
Honestly I just can't see it happening. Smash 4 dlc (not counting veterans) only first parties was promotionnal, and Ultimate fighter pass 1 only first party was also promotionnal. I know "pattern might be broken" but I just can't see who could they add at this point while still bringing new stages and new music and probably new spirits and while not being promotionnal aside from Mike Jones from Startropics.

Well my "rational," if you will, is that Byleth was completely slept on at the end of Wave 1. Everybody and their grandmas expected a third party. I even brought it up one time in this thread and I got a lot of disagreement from it because 3rd party patterns, there are better marketing choices, too recent, etc.
The only thing I think is off about this line of thinking is the fact that Sakurai can't actually pull a Sakurai if Nintendo is picking for him.
wasn't that before the crackdown was happening? Plus that resetera guy leaked animalcrossing direct on the 20th a few weeks earlier.
Well Sakurai didn't chose the dlc so I don't think we will see crazy Sakurai pick like Takamaru or Mach rider. At best I could see Nintendo chosing a highly request character (like Waluigi or Isaac) but I'm really don't think it will happen personnally but it's probably not impossible.

You're saying that like Isaac fans don't want GS4/a GS remake as a way for Nintendo to promote Isaac.
I had to check the dates cause I was sure this was after Sabi deleted his twitter account, but it appears that Emily did say it before that happened. My bad. For some reason I lost track of time and thought the AC Direct was in the last week of February which would've been after Sabi and Zippo saying Nintendo were coming for their asses (even though Zippo said he was speculating about the directs or some **** idk).
The Fact that he is a controversial character makes me believe a FP11 would be a bad pick. FP7,8 or 9 would be better for him.
reminder that before vol 2 was greenlit, byleth was intended to be the last character Ultimate would ever receive
I like your ideas for the smash DLC characters, I just think pauline wouldn't get in the game. and I don't think paper Mario would either, a lot of people would get upset with three marios, if they removed Doc in the next game and added paper, that would be cool :D
Every character is "controversial", dude. There will never be any character in existence who everyone will unanimously agree would be a good pick for DLC.
