I have a strange feeling it’ll either be a Xenoblade character, because of Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, or Neku from The World Ends With You. The latter being due to rather suspicious random maintenance on the game’s site...I know we are all starved for information from a general Direct. I’ve been reading some of the post from before and a lot of have brought up some things that are valid mentions.
As bad as I want there to be a direct this week, I don’t think it’s coming before the release of Animal Crossing. Hype for that game is strong right now, and I’m sure Nintendo doesn’t want to detour any of it.
Coronavirus has the world in a frenzy, and justly so. However, to my understanding Nintendo Directs are recorded weeks to months in advance. That may only be true for E3 or special presentations such as focused directs, but the rumored forthcoming direct may have already been recorded so I don’t think Coronavirus would effect it. E3 is what I’d be worried about. Regardless, if the employees are still working from home, I’m sure Nintendo could figure something out. The safety of their employees is the priority though.
If we do get a direct this month, I do believe we will get a Smash character reveal. Release date? Hell if I, or anyone else knows. I’d assume late April/early May. As for who the fighter would be? I dunno. I’m still not sold on Crash. 2B would be cool. I still think we are going to get a Pokémon at some point. Ryu Hayabusa seems like a handout to Sakurai from Nintendo, kinda in the same vain as Terry. Heihachi would be a great way to start off the Fighter Pass. Paper Mario would be amazing. I don’t know about Geno. If Sora got in, I’d ascend to the astral plane. But honestly, I just don’t know. I’m looking forward to the surprise.
I could see a Xenoblade character for sure. Rex & Pyra now that time constraints aren’t an issue. Fiora maybe. Elma.I have a strange feeling it’ll either be a Xenoblade character, because of Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, or Neku from The World Ends With You. I think you feel that way because you want to feel that way.I have a strange feeling it’ll either be a Xenoblade character, because of Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, or Neku from The World Ends With You. The latter being due to rather suspicious random maintenance on the game’s site...
Because it’s still the same franchise he is from, and he is highly requested. Nintendo knows this.I just don't see how a remaster of a game Rex isn't even in is somehow a boon for his chances.
Fiora would probably take that spot. Or Elma, if she makes a guest appearance there as she did in XC2. Rex could cameo in XCDE but it wouldn’t help his chances I don’t thinkRex could still happen since a second pass wasn't planned when his costume was added.
Still, his game is getting pretty old. It'll be two and a half years since XC2 by E3. Odds are, he doesn't qualify as a promotional pick anymore in Nintendo's eyes.
Can we all just agree that *Insert Popular/Important Xenoblade character here* Has a chance of making it in because of XC:DE? I think Fiora, Elma, and Rex & Pyra are most likely for that spot.Fiora would probably take that spot. Or Elma, if she makes a guest appearance there as she did in XC2. Rex could cameo in XCDE but it wouldn’t help his chances I don’t think
XCX:DE (or XCX2) probably isn't happening for a long time so I doubt that Nintendo would opt for her because of a hypothetical cameo.Fiora would probably take that spot. Or Elma, if she makes a guest appearance there as she did in XC2. Rex could cameo in XCDE but it wouldn’t help his chances I don’t think
Maybe, but I feel like XC2 is in the best position for a new character. XC:DE is a remake, which means it has the same core cast and locations as what's emphasized in Smash through Shulk.Fiora would probably take that spot. Or Elma, if she makes a guest appearance there as she did in XC2. Rex could cameo in XCDE but it wouldn’t help his chances I don’t think
Agreed. I'm cheering for Rex. He would still bring attention to the remaster even if it isn't his game. It's still Xenoblade Chronicles, an expanding franchise that is popular in Japan and has fans from other regions. Can we all just agree that *Insert Popular/Important Xenoblade character here* Has a chance of making it in because of XC:DE? I think Fiora, Elma, and Rex & Pyra are most likely for that spot.
Please, do me a favor. Go try to buy Path of Radiance or Radiant Dawn right now.As far as I know FE4 remake is just speculation and there wasn't any leak or rumour for that. For FE6/7 there was that article not long ago about a scrapped FE remake for the 3DS.
Tellius remake, I wouldn't say it's a leak but there are some things pointing to that. Basically all about Path of Radiance remake is covered in this video, maybe there's more info out there.
As I said this video isn't the usual leak, it's speculation based on some facts and 'hints'. If there's more info about a supposed FE9 remake besides this video, I have no idea about that.
Personally I'd rather have FE4 getting this treatment, I consider that FE4 deserves more a remake. I love Ike's games but these games are at least localized outside of Japan.
Maybe a character from the orginal BotW, but I don't think they're adding OoT Impa or Skull Kid to promote BotW 2. That would be like saying Lyn could promote Three Houses by raising brand awareness.I said earlier that a non-BotW2 character would work as a tie-in Smash inclusion for BotW2 by raising general brand awareness and I think the same would apply to a potential XB inclusion. There's ways to promote things that aren't just THIS GAME IS OUT, PLAY AS PROTAGONIST FROM GAME IN OTHER GAME AND ALSO BUY THEIR GAME TOO.
Mind if they went the brand-promotion route for Xenoblade I'd hope that they do half-and-half with the character being from one game and the stage from another. Have Rex+Pyra be the fighter for Xenoblade 2 and give us a Mira stage from Xenoblade X. Everyone wins, entire franchise is repped and you didn't need 8 characters to do it.
Considering that Sakurai straight up apologized to Rex fans, that is a big deal. Not to mention we have a fresh new pass that might not have been conceived while Rex got that Mii costume. Meaning that Sakurai could have decided to upgrade Rex. Plus like I just said in my post from 5 minutes ago, Rex could still be chosen as the shill pick since he's still part of Xenoblade.Rex's chances are dead. Sakurai fully expects that Mii Costume always you to feel like you're playing as him so for all he is concern Rex is in the game and everyone's enjoys playing as Bootleg Rex.
And with Nintendo picking DLC then his chances are super dead. Nintendo got to get their promotional picks in and Rex ain't it. Pretty sure there will be a FE Remake next year and that character will get in as Fighter Pack 11.
The difference with BotW2 and Three Houses is that there wasn't a Three Houses before this one. If Garreg Mach was in the game already then it'd make sense to not have Garreg Mach 2 and to have, I dunno, Dragon's Gate or Belhalla instead. We already have a Link based on Breath of the Wild and a stage based on Breath of the Wild. You don't really need Great Plateau 2 to promote BotW2.Maybe a character from the orginal BotW, but I don't think they're adding OoT Impa or Skull Kid to promote BotW 2. That would be like saying Lyn could promote Three Houses by raising brand awareness.
We're just gonna have to wait and see who's in BotW 2. Could be a Champion, a returning character with a more important role (Kass, Sidon, etc.), or an entirely new character.
Still, most of the popular Zelda characters' games already have a decent amount of content in Smash. You don't really need Great Plateau 2 to promote BotW2.
Brand awareness also makes sense for a franchise that isn't necessarily getting a new game right around the corner but will definitely continue to get games well into the future. Xenoblade's not going anywhere, and they can futureproof it by giving it a prominent place in Smash.
Yeah, I know that PoR and RD are almost impossible to find. But if I'm correct both games are at least in the WiiU virtual console, and at least were localized outside of Japan when they came out, so non japanese fans are more familiar with Ike and company. FE4? (FE5 & FE6 as well) Not that much except for dedicated FE fans. Please, do me a favor. Go try to buy Path of Radiance or Radiant Dawn right now.
Good luck finding Path of Radiance under $100... for just the disc.
Localized doesn't mean a whole lot when they're some of the best games in the franchise but are actually impossible to get your hands on.
Right now Monolith is working on Zelda + a new ip + Xenoblade definitive edition, so even if Xenoblade X-2 or 3 are in development I don't think they will release soon. It's worth noting that Three Houses and Smash Bros Ultimate were revealed on the same day and Byleth was decided upon before either game came out. With a two year time frame for the DLC fighters to come out it's seems possible the shill pick will be from a game we don't even know exists yet.
Which means it's clearly gonna be a XenobladeX 2: The Search For Answers rep, babyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Yeah no, with each Xenoblade game changing out it's cast of characters means that Rex will not be used to promote Xenoblade. That's like saying they could use Chrom to help promote Three Houses since they're both part of Fire Emblem. Their promotional pick has to be from the current game that's happening.Considering that Sakurai straight up apologized to Rex fans, that is a big deal. Not to mention we have a fresh new pass that might not have been conceived while Rex got that Mii costume. Meaning that Sakurai could have decided to upgrade Rex. Plus like I just said in my post from 5 minutes ago, Rex could still be chosen as the shill pick since he's still part of Xenoblade.
I'm not saying that Rex is super likely, but to say that his chances are dead is a bit of an exaggeration. Try having hope one of these days.
You're not, unfortunately. But if I'm correct both games are at least in the WiiU virtual console,
Yeah, a whopping total of three. With no stage to boot.music tracks
Could be worse, could have been like ARMS with no musicYeah, a whopping total of three. With no stage to boot.
I agree. I'd make some minor changes like a more agile interface, faster enemy phases, improve animations, things like that. But I think that the best option for both games is getting the Xenoblade DE treatment. It also makes more sense if you ask me.You're not, unfortunately.
PoR/RD don't really need remakes as much as they just need to be rereleased. Something more like XBDE where they pretty them up but don't change the underlying skeletal structure that much would be fine.
even so i don't think they'd add a XC2 stage at this point in time with more music anywayYeah, a whopping total of three. With no stage to boot.
With Spring Man being an AT I wouldn't count on Min Min, Twintelle or even Dr. Coyle being playable at this rateCould be worse, could have been like ARMS with no music
Ah yes Rex's chances of being playable are dead forever, because by the time a new Smash game comes out a new Xenoblade will be released, and the new protag will obviously be prioritized.Yeah no, with each Xenoblade game changing out it's cast of characters means that Rex will not be used to promote Xenoblade. That's like saying they could use Chrom to help promote Three Houses since they're both part of Fire Emblem. Their promotional pick has to be from the current game that's happening.
Sakurai ain't making the decisions and he most likely still thinks that what he did for Xenoblade 2 is good enough. There's two costume, Spirits, and music. He probably doesn't see a reason to upgrade when he already had stuff in, he's satisfied.
His chances are extremely low for Ultimate and by the time the next Smash Bros game happen a new Xenoblade game will be a thing, ensuring that Rex chances to be playable are dead.
