When you see Byleth fans spamming "Hoes mad HOES MAAAAAD" everywhere and screeching irrationally at you by calling you a terrible person and a hater when all one did was express disappointment about Byleth getting in, yeah, it did.

It's not allowed to be disappointed according to the FE fans I came across. There's just no reasoning with such madness.

That picture is the definition of smug satisfaction. It's literally written on their face.
The hoes mad is a meme that has started since Joker... This ain¨t anything new

I'm pretty lucky that nothing I really cared about was disconfirmed via spirit events so far.

Wish I could say the same for assist trophies... (RIP Lyn, Shovel Knight, and Isaac)

It was very telling with how many people didn't realize why "Cereal Mascot" became a derogatory term seemingly out of nowhere, when it was in direct response to the same group calling everything they didn't like a "generic anime character."
I will say this "cereal mascots" are usually more varied in shape, color, and personality than the FE characters we get. And I think that js a contributing factor no one talks about. It's not that it's an "anime swordfighter" it's the design. Seeing Byleth and Marth standing side by side in the presentation made me realize more than ever how the FE protagonists just look soooo similar. Even the ones that don't still give off the same vibe. Y'know? Very serious, handsome, boyish looks and stylish hair. That noble way they express themselves in their animations.

Now think. What if we got the Black Knight? What if we got Tiki? Those character give off a completely different feeling.

According to VGChartz, the original Golden Sun sold 1.76 millions copies, including 0.40 millions in Japan, 0.93 in NA, and 0.38 in Europe.
Just because you bolded the number, doesn't make it a big deal. And just because you named other things that sold less, doesn't make Golden Sun an important franchise.

I don't think you're getting my point.

I've said it multiple times already: I don't appreciate being harassed and spammed online with hate messages because I disagreed. This time, it just happens to be the insane Byleth fans with no capacity for moderation.

The way I see it, FE fans won anyway. They got a FE character. No need to be smug or dog pile on someone because they disagree or don't like it.

I'm human, not an unfeeling thing, so even though it's easy to say "just ignore it" getting spammed multiple days in a row does take its toll.

I'm telling y'all, even with just the spirit events, we've been having some pretty nuts collaborations

Tetris, Resident Evil, River City Ransom

you can tell Sakurai wants this to be the defacto celebration of video games and get as many notable names as possible

At least this means Arc System Works and Nintendo were in communication for something related to Smash which is a positive sign.

Though if Sol Badguy does get in as a DLC character, I do wonder how people would feel. I imagine there'd be some mixed reactions given how Guilty Gear wasn't on most peoples radar for DLC or at least slept under it. I adore Guilty Gear for decades so I'd accept him.

I'd say the smug idiots who scream at people who are disappointed are the truly pathetic ones, not those who don't appreciate being treated like trash online for disagreeing.

Sakurai and Nintendo chose Byleth. That's it. No need for dumbass fan theories or essays.

Deal with it and move on because it's happening whether you or anyone else wants it to or not. And if I sound aggressive, I'm sorry but since Byleth was announced, I've been seeing constant ********. Over and over!

Maybe the FE fans wouldn't be so smug if people would stop being such ****ing bell ends to them about a character and a game they like.

Cause I'll tell you this right now, if it was Dante or Geno or Crash, they wouldn't be complaining! They'd have nothing negative to say. If anything, they'd be happy about the 3H DLC that was announced that same day.

If not antagonized, most fanbases keep to themselves but Smash Fans don't. When Smash fans feel slighted by a man and a team that worked countless hours to give us a full on game AND THEN DLC which gave the likes of Banjo and Joker by a character pick, they attack like a ****ing hive against other fan bases.

Hero? ******* and moaned

Terry? ******* and moaned.

Byleth? ******* and moaned.

And each time Smash Fans did that, that's when their respective fan bases struck back with "Hoes Mad" so maybe not being **** headed wasps wouldn't draw the ire of a fanbase.

I get being disappointed but for ****s sake, whining, complaining and getting mad at a guy who wanted to show fanart is childish and sad

Kunio Spirit event?!

...but yeah, okay.

I was hoping to at least get a Mii Brawler, but I guess this will have to do.

Maybe because I don’t use Twitter, but I have never seen anyone spamming that meme or getting personally sent by those memes

All I have seeing people doing ironicly and people complaining about the meme

Honestly dude, it just comes across that you are upset about FE fan celebrating in general :/

I personally would love Sol Badguy if he were included, but considering how 1) Smash reveal cycles always seem to end on a "low note", and 2) Guilty Gear is rather niche even by fighting game standards, I expect Sol to be revealed as the last character of the Pass (assuming he's in at all) and be met with a very divisive reaction not unlike Terry.

Also, wow, the 24th? That's close, not to mention pretty much right after the Astral Chain one.

Wonder how many of these we'll get for third parties in the next two years...
Hopefully very few for third parties specifically. It's gonna suck rooting for a third-party character that would be great for Smash, only to wake up one day and find out they've been Thanos-snapped to the Spirit Board dimension.

Really hoping for some Mii Fighter costumes if we're getting spirits.
The concept of of some classic River City as Brawlers/Swordfighters (with a bat or something) sounds awesome. Maybe even having costumes based on the River City Girls too.

This is actually really cool.

Looking at your signature....Wouldn't it be dope if we had a fighter with a gimmick like Ranma 1/2?

Hoo boy, I can smell those Ace Attorney and Tales spirit events now.
Why would you do this?

Huh what is this I'm suddenly hearing about Sol Badguy and Nintendo and ArcSystem?
The Kunio-Kun series just got a Spirit Board Event, which naturally means that Sol Badguy from Guilty Gear now has one less competitor in regards to an Arc System Works character getting into Smash.

That was super unexpected! I thought Kunio had a shot, but if Nintendo is working with ArcSys this means that maybe, just maybe, they've approached them for Double Dragon, BlazBlue, or Guilty Gear?

Sol doesn't seem so impossible anymore...though this could also mean this is all the ArcSys content we're getting. Either way, it's really nostalgic for me to see some River City content in Smash!

Caling a prediction now: this won't be our last brush with Arcsys. It would be super weird if RC was all they got into Smash considering their vast history.

For reference, I think NMH content will come from Marvelous for a similar reason, Spirit Event or otherwise.
