Well, for me he's always been among my most-wanted and TSA and NMH3 brought the series back with a bang. I think it's just that he's always been a huge fanbase want, but one that wasn't really talked about. People are just finally expressing their hope out loud now that the series is continuing. It helps that everyone knows the story of Suda51 wanting him in and that he keeps bringing it up in interviews.
He's earned it at this point. He brings good moveset potential and damn good music, you can give a lot from all three games so far.

It's a shame that some of his songs probably won't have lyrics (maybe not even NMH2 theme). Silver Face is a damn good song.

I wonder what the chances are that they make us wait until E3 to see the first post-Fighters Pass DLC character(s).

They would probably know how long we waited, so they would announce the characters as early as possible.

If Nintendo makes us wait until E3 for the first post-pass fighter, I'd be okay with it. Remember that we have a ton of high profile games coming out in March like Aninal Crossing: New Horizons, Final Fantasy VII Remake part 1, etc.

Same, though I wouldn't be surprised if we actually got some good info on our hands by that time,

They have no problem making us wait, if the current dry spell is anything to go by.

Joker is the only time they announced a character especially early because they wanted to sell Fighters Passes before the end of the fiscal year.

Of course. The bloody Mii Costume leak is still in pending.
Considering that a previous leak listed Mallow alongside Goemon and Rocket Grunt Mii Costumes, I'm 160% sure that Geno is coming.
And the leak has still not been proven fake. It seems on par with the Ken leak.

Still, we're probably in the dark, though I wouldn't mind that either.

My prediction for FP5 is obviously KOS-MOS.
Beyond that, Fighter's Pass 2 will be Geno, Doom Slayer, Crash (free Coco Echo), Lloyd, and Ryu Hayabusa (free Ayane Echo).
Finally, we get a third Fighter's Pass with Heihachi, Spyro, Lara Croft, Dante, and Master Chief.
Sorry, Rayman, Shovel Knight, Monster Hunter, and Bomberman. Youse were my next choices.
Edit: Y'know what? If Sakurai is feeling extra generous, we could get Fighter's Pass 4 with all those that barely missed the cut.
Rayman, Bomberman, Monster Hunter, Reimu, and Shovel Knight.

Meanwhile, aside from Fighter's Passes, Nintendo will dole out some bonus characters.
First Party DLC.png

Including Piranha Plant, that's TEN bonus fighters with no stage or music.

Funny thing is if the pattern of Fighters dropping in the same timeframe as new amiibos (which is pretty much the only consistent pattern until it gets broken like others have before) continues to remain true, that would mean the character announcement and the character demonstration for fighter 5 would come out pretty damn close to each other. Factor in possible teases for the first post pass character and my gut tells me that January will be a Smash Direct instead of a normal Direct. Then again, I'm probably just talking out my ass

time to personally assassinate all members of smash bros ultimate in revenge
I have no hate for Travis.
But I don't see him as likely. Like, at all.
I'd sooner bet on Waluigi being promoted to playable.
But that's just my gut. I've been wrong plenty of times.

forward special

up special

down special

final smash (like Blue Falcon but the enemy likes trains)

...I'm just bored by no direct and no fp5 reveal.

It feels like Nintendo is downplaying Smash DLC's importance, from not mentioning Terry in advertisements until weeks after he came out to not having a big reveal for Christmas. Either to focus advertizing other things, or to downplay how lesser known the later fighters in the pass are, or both.

It does make me comfortable in saying whoever FP5 is, they probably aren't worth all the stress of poring over every possible leak or hint.

Than agaian, we already have Season 2 on the go, so they're most likely gonna focus all their efforts there.

I mean, I could see it continuing from the Kencineroar trailer, like how Banjo continued from K. Rool's.

Fits in with Travis' games for him wanting to be #1 of the WVBA or something and the fact that he's obsessed with wrestling.
Trailer starts with Incineroar fighting K. Rool, Villager and Bowser Jr. at the same time - where his and Ken's trailer left off. We see them brawl around a little bit.

Camera pans out. The match is being shown on a TV in Travis' living room (either the NMH motel or the trailer). We hear him getting a call from Sylvia about his next job. She tells him the rules for this one are different than what Travis is used to, but he says it's fine: if he could beat up video game characters once, he can do it again.

Travis then turns on his Death Drive MKII console, picks up a Smash Ultimate game card (maybe a joke about it having multi-console compatibility or something) and gets into the game. Cue splash title and gameplay trailer.

Yeah... I could see it being interesting.

Yeah, but Animal Crossing is legitimately the only thing Nintendo has really lined up for 2020 right now besides the Tokyo Mirage Sessions port and the Xenoblade Chronicles Remaster/Remake. 2020 has some real hits from the industry like Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Last of Us Part II, etc. but that's none of those are going to be on Switch. They need something if they're not going to bring anything else to the first half of the year, and DLC is probably the optimal way to do that while they work on other full games.

I'm not sure I see this. Terry not being advertised was largely because there was kind of a huge holiday push for Luigi's Mansion 3, Mario & Sonic, and Pokemon during his optimal release period, so he just kind of drew the short of end of the stick. It's not really downplaying as much as it is just being honest that it wasn't quite their priority when they had 2 of the Switch's biggest games on the horizon, which would always have taken priority. I'm not sure we've moved towards that much lesser known fighters either. I mean we went from Joker... to the absolutely massive Dragon Quest titles to the massive request of Banjo & Kazooie, and even Terry is a fairly common name with a lot of appeal on the worldwide stage.

Fighter #5 is just one we know absolutely nothing about right now really. They could be a huge deal or they could be more niche, but we'll just have to wait and see.

So some people are speculating the Joker image might be hinting towards Phoenix Wright given the whole "Objection!".

I'd love for that to be true but remember how everyone assumed the Rathalos image hinted at Isaac. Look how that turned out. I'd keep expectations low.

There is a small possibility though and hoping its true given Stage Builder Theory (Dragon stages and witch stage) hinted at:ulthero:and:ultbanjokazooie:

Can we not go insanely speculative about what a random cool picture Sakurai posted from Smash hints towards? I mean, we're Smash fans that speculate about all kinds of stuff, so we're all a little insane, but the picture theories easily make us look so much worse in terms of crazy conspiracy theories.

They didn't really hint towards that. This is more of a circumstance of things lining up "to be a hint" as opposed to some actual hint placed in the presentation. A generic witch and a generic dragon aren't exactly the most uncommon things and were easy to show off Stage Builder's intricacies to the public.
