Of the viable choices people have listed thus far Sony feels like the strongest option to me. If Smash were to get all three major console companies represented in their game it would solidify it as the greatest gaming crossover ever, not that it wasn't already.

So.... who do you guys think is the first one after the pass? I'm thinking either Porky or Byleth.
We pretty much gave up on FP5, huh? XD

FP5 is gonna be BIG since every single major frontrunner has been deconfirmed.

Kudos to ANYONE making fanart to put whoever FP5 is on top of a mountain of corpses.

I can just picture Sakurai secretly viewing this thread and getting off on us being so damn confused. He’s probably sitting at his desk right now laughing like Dedede.

I don't even know what to think at this point. It's hard to say which option is more likely because they all seemed unlikely at best until just a few weeks ago lol.

2K... so Borderlands and Bioshock then? I'd be meh, but I know some people who would be happy.
Also, 2K is a sister company of Rockstar, so John Marston, Alexander Morgan, CJ, and any other GTA protagonist are in play

All of those are adaptations of existing franchises, and none of them have replaced their source material. They exist alongside them, while also being practicallly non-existent in Smash. That's very different from something created solely to be whale bait.
And let's say Saber gets in.

Fate started as a visual novel back in 2004, and only got a gacha game in 2015 in Japan, while still getting non-gacha related games regularly.

Sure if it's some cheap Chinese mobile game trash I'd agree with you but if it does end up Saber she's not just a mobage character, she legit has over 10 years of history behind her.

Yes.
Its quite fun this kind of bingo for #5, speculation is now like a headless chicken running.
Hope that the name won't leak, I'm having a great time.

Porky's likelihood hinged pretty much solely on him missing as a Spirit, which made some people think it was because he was being planned as DLC. Post-Pass that whole idea is thrown out of the window, along with Porky's chances imo. I'd absolutely love Porky mind you, but I don't see why he'd be likely at this stage.

I could see a Fire Emblem: Three Houses character though, I do think a first party character stands a decent chance at being the first post-Pass DLC character just to make sure there isn't a long wait between #5 and the next one, and the lack of a Spirit event for Three Houses remains very suspicious.

Technically, Microsoft isn't really represented, as Banjo's more of a Rare character, just that Microsoft owns the rights to, it's very complicated. I'd consider Chief the "Microsoft" rep and Banjo the "Rareware/Rare" rep

lol at people pretending that if Saber got in it would be because of her very respectable origins as an electronic book character where she ***** Japanese teenager **** and not because of Fate/Gacha Order.

Even if that's all true, 3 of my top 10 are still in play! >_>

Giana, Quinty, and Carmen Sandiego.

It won't be any of them, mind you, but still...

I'll be amused if my half-hearted inclination that it might be Neptune actually comes to pass.
Or if we get like... Rintarou Okabe or Makoto Sawatari...
Or tears of both amusement and sadness wil flow if it's one of the American shooteymen.

All that said, there are still a lot of companies left.
NCSoft, Tencent/Riot Games, Nexon, etc. would all still be on the table, after all.

Edit: Or is it KanColle time? I think it might be KanColle time.

Big words coming from a Granblue player.

At this point I'm just excited as this kill list may have gotten rid of a ****ton of cool characters, it also got rid of my 2 "Oh god no" picks
It's a sacrifice we must be willing to make.

I still think he's kind of likely, but I see your point.

All I could say...

It's been a ****ing wild ride now. And I'm tensed to be part of it.

This will go down as one of the WILDEST SPECULATION PERIODS IN SMASH HISTORY

I see what you're saying, but they still had to go through MS for Banjo. So the effect is more or less the same even if Banjo isn't who made MS into one of the pillars of gaming.

Four months of frontrunners being shifted around and getting deconfirmed. I have to say this speculation period was very pleasant. It was.... fun. It's gonna come to an end very soon at the game awards. I only hope that it's Kratos so the internet would explode.

But yeah.

Unless another crazy twist happens, going all in on Sony or something Sony heavily invests in as the final character.

There's just nothing left at this point otherwise, everything else was culled.

Unless of course they pull the "Sora, but with Disney as the copyright holder" sthick.
