They're first party characters, so if they decided early on that the theme had to the 3rd party characters, they obviously weren't even candidates. I feel like Rex would 100% have been added if not for that, I think he's the only character Sakurai has ever apologized for not adding.

Not that a Hollow Knight character is in any way likely, but that it's a new-ish game is not the reason. It came out in February 2017, and the DLC was decided sometime in mid to late 2018 to our knowledge.

November 2018, after hollow knight was successful on the switch and their development plans were public knowledge.

Snake was considered for Melee, despite Metal Gear having no presence on Nintendo systems at that point in time outside of the shoddy NES game and a GBC version of Solid...

We know Kojima and Sakurai are bunk buddies...

Sony was not deconfirmed, and a PC port of his most recent project has been confirmed despite supposed PS4 Exclusivity...

It has completely overtaken The Game Awards, where we're expecting our next reveal...

Sora is in such an odd spot.

Verg considers Sora Square, he's done so on several occasions.


But if this is just his source relaying him info, we have zero idea if Square would be credited for him, or Disney.

Even if we did get Sora, we wouldn't get the Disney characters. And let's be honest here, Disney is the biggest reason why most people care about Kingdom Hearts

But what about weight theory? Hollow Knight has to eat a lot of Burgers to become fat enough to be heavier than Terry.

Yeah, that is true. He seems unlikely because you need both Sabi's source to be wrong and Verge's source to consider him Disney. But still possible.

Uuuh, that's it. I guess Sora or Travis can be considered alive by technicalities, but you'd have to assume that their disconfirmations were lies under NDA, which I don't feel like doing myself.

Whoever CP5 is... I'm expecting the unexpected.
