Four months of frontrunners being shifted around and getting deconfirmed. I have to say this speculation period was very pleasant. It was.... fun. It's gonna come to an end very soon at the game awards. I only hope that it's Kratos so the internet would explode.

Fate started as a visual novel back in 2004, and only got a gacha game in 2015 in Japan, while still getting non-gacha related games regularly.

Sure if it's some cheap Chinese mobile game trash I'd agree with you but if it does end up Saber she's not just a mobage character, she legit has over 10 years of history behind her.

Fate Go has easily replaced the source material in terms of revenue, attention, relevance etc and Saber has the whole other kettle of fish in that she's from a visual novel with straight up sex scenes involving her. Out of Nintendo's mobile games, only FE Heroes has come close to surpassing the original series its based on and Three Houses proves that the franchise itself is still strong without mobile game support.

I'd really prefer mobile gaming to stay away from Smash in general; traditional games have already had to compete with low effort mobile games taking up a huge amount of market space while Smash has done so much to prop up gaming and gaming icons. The only reason they'd get in is because Nintendo execs see the money mobile games can make and decide they want more of it, which is so disgustingly corporate and shallow that I can't abide it. Bare in mind Smash is rated E for Everyone in Japan; exposing kids to genres where the entire appeal is microtransactions, something impulsive kids already fall victim to, is pretty scummy.

I don't think games can make you into a murderer, or a rapist, or a monster. But they can definitely get you hooked on in-game purchases and wreck your wallet.

Joker was from Sakurai's recent favorite game. Hero was from Sakurai's ever beloved series. Banjo was a big thank you to the fans of Smash. And Terry was from the games gave Sakurai the idea of Smash in the first place.
So who's Fighter 5? It's a character from the game that affected Sakurai's entire career path. If this game wasn't born, the first Kirby game might have been totally different or even not existed.

Geralt? I know we argue over his origins but he's a pretty big deal.

A Disney character? Mickey Mouse being in Smash would be money, or even my preference Scrooge McDuck?

An indie character yet to be deconfirmed? The Knight from Hollow Knight is looking pretty good right about now.

A crazy out there pick? James Bond/TOP SECRET would be the most insane thing they could add.

This is incredible. We really have absolutely no idea who it could be.
