I'm the biggest Sol shill here and I know damn well he isn't happening which is why i'm trying to re-enact exactly what happened to K.Rool, Ridley, Isaac and every other character who made it big in Smash speculation

Awww, don't you think Sol deserves a little more credit? Arc System Works is one of the biggest Japanese publishers not currently in the game and they've been on absolute fire in recent years making some of the most well known and liked 2D fighting games of all time that are beautifully realized to boot. I think that earns them a little something (Plus, I don't think there's a better example of "It's important that the character is fun, not just recognizable" than Sol and all of his crazy moves and abilities, he's just too perfect for Smash lol).

Forest Maze was a huge meme at the time due to that one animated video on youtube, people liked it and considering the final shot of that video is Geno saying "I'm a gaming god", people associate him with the song. Theoretically this is fine, bandwagons are usually caused by this stuff and bandwagoning is only considered bad if it's a character is disliked by the person saying they're bad, but for some reason people became convinced he's happening when Sakurai expressed that he wanted Geno but implied there were difficulties, now we're about a decade since then and his stans have somehow stayed alive. It's actually quite impressive despite most Geno stans I've seen be nothing but unpleasant to talk to

I try to be one of the more pleasant Geno fans, though I admit I can certainly come off like an ass sometimes for how I approach the chances of characters and also first parties in general at this point (so I do hope I achieve that goal at least 90% of the time)... But still, it's weird being a Geno fan who also totally understands why people don't like the character and his fandom and I would never blame anybody for just kind of resenting it. There's a lot that either just isn't fun to be around or just drives me insane with it at times, and the latest cult of personality around Fatmanonice in that thread is just... not for me to put it lightly...

Though, I do think Geno deserves a little more credit for just appealing to people after the Forest Maze meme, as there is certainly a newer generation of fans who have never known that stuff (I sure as hell didn't when I first started supporting Geno in Smash 4, I just liked Super Mario RPG.

Is this another one of those weird "Ryu Hayabusa is the last NES icon" claims that's going to be repeated for no reason? Soulcalibur has guest characters. Tekken also has guest characters. King of Fighters All Star has guest characters. I'd say that Granblue ****ing Fantasy has more actual crossovers if you count number of series' than Soulcalibur. And hell, even in fighters, King of Fighters itself is a bigger crossover than Soulcalibur. Or, y'know, the Capcom Versus series? Marvel vs. Capcom anyone? Cmon son.

I do think the idea that Ryu Hayabusa is the last NES icon stands on a little more merit than most claims specifically because it's one of the only remaining NES franchises that actually made it off the NES in one piece and managed to have a successful modern legacy too. Sure, you have stuff like Ghost N' Goblins, Bionic Commando, Bubble Bobble, etc. that did well and are known as top NES games, but none of them really transitioned very well or at all in some cases past the NES. Contra is the next closest, but it's modern offerings range from mediocre to godawful outside of Contra 4 in addition to just sort of being harder to make a character around. And maybe Double Dragon/Kunio for the beat-em-up genre depending on which angle you decide to go (I'm really hoping not Kunio specifically because his designs... bothers me... and I don't know why or how....)

Because it's a legitimate reason a reliable sorce can turn sour. Companies intentionally put out false info to ferret out who or what the internal source is. Like using radioactive isotopes to track how something decays.

The caveat of that though, is that once they've been fed wrong info once, they need to be extra careful

For the most part yes, however I would call Star Fox Grand Prix a special case since it was so widely circulated. Typically leakers "vet" their sources by getting numerous sources to confirm the same thing, which they then reveal once safe. However, if leakbait is used and is widely distributed, it can lead to such a false positive wherein a leaker hears the same, incorrect information from different sources, believes it to be true, and then reveals.

Leaker credibility is hard to pin down. Especially since companies like Namco, Bethesda, Sony all have weird leak policies which even involve spreading fake leaks for some to known journalists in things like Kotaku.

Feels that the whole last NES icon is a stretch, as you are being picky about the other characters just to remove them from the claim. Going by those standards Ninja Gaiden hasn't received a good game since the new NG2 as Yaiba was awful and 3 was mediocre as hell, heck he hasn't made any appearances outside for being a guest in the DoA games.

I love Hayabusa but this ain't it.

No ill will toward him, but I wouldn’t just take him with a grain of salt, but an entire shaker. He seems to be willing to not only craft any theory he can for Genos favor (Which is what Nightmare would do), but also spin any potential insider rumoring into Genos favor, even though it was proven with the Square list that he was used as leakbait.

Also, I heard that he has been doing this since the Brawl days, but I’m not too sure. If someone could verify that for me, that would be appreciated.

It's the same as the actual argument for determinism (the notion of free will vs a "determined" fate). It's largely subjective and depends on what side of the argument you agree with more.

You're always gonna have those people who come from a perspective of determinism/fatalism, "why bother when it'll just happen anyways," or "the Lord has a plan for you so everything'll be okay!" But you're also gonna have people who come from a belief of free will who do what they want. Even in the face of determinism you can believe in free will and act according to that belief.

It's largely up to you to believe what you want and respect that other people have their own beliefs, and as long as they're not being assholes about it (which most people on this thread aren't), that's okay.

Y'all are just now hearing the good word? While you guys were discussing Adam & Ken and Incineroar's Ark, I was reading up on the New Testament with Erdrick's crucifiction.
