All the criticisms toward as Luigi’s mansion 3 pack are very valid, I’d love it but I’m also biased, either way I’m thinking we are definitely getting a promotional first party at some point, and I’d hope it be from this as opposed to sword shield or something

In my mind, a Luigi’s Mansion 3 pack would include King Boo as the main character, Gooigi as a bonus echo of Luigi, an elevator tour through the Last Resort as the stage, a few mii costumes, and several spirits like E Gadd, Polterpup, Hellen Graveley, and some of the other ghosts from LM3

Olimar was a bit unfortunate that he was following up on Sonic and Dedede, as well as being the only newcomer reveal in like 2 months or something. He did have a decently sized fanbase from my memory, but circumstances made him seem a bit underwhelming to a lot of people.

Don’t get me wrong, I love third party characters and I’m excited to see some more, but there are tons of fan requested first party characters that still haven’t made the cut yet that’d be more exciting to me than a character from a series I don’t play because I only own Nintendo consoles.

Geno (half first party I know)

I mean that’s a pass itself right there, not even including others like Dixie, Paper Mario, Toad, etc

those are all valid criticisms. I have made a King Boo moveset that I think would be really cool to see, it’s him as a spawner character, something we really don’t have in smash yet

Also yea, Gooigi would be super basic but thats kinda the appeal of him in my mind, he’d make a perfect bonus character between passes imo

For me, Capcom reps are in the same place I felt all the way back in November. Too obvious. I don't think one is gonna happen in the FP.

Namco, for me, had their chances die after Terry's reveal. After Terry's reveal, it seems far more likely that every character brings a new company under the table. I personally don't think it's a coincidence and the "leading" into a Namco rep just seems way to obvious now, like it's a false breadcrumb trail.

Now, I honestly have no idea who it could be. I do have my own wants (*cough* Reimu *cough*), but it's still largely anyone's game (but those that have been said it's not). So, hopefully we get a nice surprise for FP5.

• I was happy for Olimar because I’ve always favored NEW main characters as opposed to more characters from already represented series. It was only when I played against Olimar that I wasn’t very thrilled about it.

• Most of my first party favorites are ATs. I would love Mike Jones the most. Then Takamaru, then Saki, Isaac, and Medusa. I was excited for Mach Rider too back in the grinch leak days.

I like 3rd parties.
I’ve jumped from console to console over the years, so even though the spectrum of characters is much bigger with 3rd parties, I at least know all the ones released so far, at least for looking at box arts when shuffling for games I want to buy.
(NES, Genesis, PC, PS2, Wii, PS3, Switch, GBC, GG, GBA, DS, 3DS).

Bayonetta was also Revealed after Ryu and CLOUD. in comparison, she wasn't as big

True, but she was by no means a low note. She revitalized the action game genre and brought it to new heights during a time when Dante was going through an identity crisis. Platinum set the bar very high and I know a couple of folks who got Wii U's just for Bayonetta 2. And I was personally excited about her more than the returning veterans because of her ridiculous repertoire. To this day, the idea of chainsaw rollerblades and gunchuks in Smash are a possibility thanks to Bayonetta.

I'm sorry, but that's a no from me, dawg. I'd probably get it because Smash is Smash and I'm sure it'll please a handful of people out there, but it would be uninteresting, to say the least. Although we technically only have one Luigi rep now that I think about it. Should he be counted as his own thing? I think Gooigi in a hypothetical Echo pass with some stuff thrown in should suffice.

Maybe. But I’d reckon most Smash players and people who have played the series since it’s debut have a much stronger connection to Nintendo characters than third party characters.

Don’t get me wrong, I love third party characters and I’m excited to see some more, but there are tons of fan requested first party characters that still haven’t made the cut yet that’d be more exciting to me than a character from a series I don’t play because I only own Nintendo consoles.

In sabis and papagenos recent polling that helped fact check double voters and got several thousand votes if I recall, there were only two Nintendo characters in the top 10 and they are both already assist trophy’s, waluigi and Isaac. There are far more hype and people to bring from third parties followings and even among the hardest followers of smash which is who mainly does these types of polls Nintendo reps are no longer leading in hype and wants. We got all the biggest ones.

Out of curiosity, I looked up which third-party Mii costumes we're still missing from Smash 4. Seems like the only companies left with missing costumes really are just Square Enix, Capcom and Bamco and Nintendo, because not all of those came back. I'll have to say though, I'm honestly having my doubts as to whether or not that can really determine FP5.

Shulk was legitimately my most wanted newcomer back in the Smash 4 days, so I obviously was hyped as hell when he did get revealed. Though I'll have to admit that his reveal was somewhat weakened by the fact that he was leaked beforehand. And here I am again, hoping for a Xenoblade character yet again, one game later. If only she had some leaks going for her. . . At least my other most wanted character back then, Lucina, wasn't really spoiled beforehand.

I don't know, I just feel like we've got nearly every Nintendo character who matters and those that are left out are already Assist Trophies or Spirit. After what Fatmanonice implied about the discussions he had in a private discord server about the additional DLC, I don't really expect much to change.

if you're crossing your fingers for a ton of NPC promotions, you're going to be super disappointed.

It's weird that you equate "3rd party" with "not being on Nintendo consoles" when most of the 3rd party frachises in Smash were popular on Nintendo systems...

I’m not doubting third party popularity. I get it. But I also don’t think the entirety of Smash DLC will consist of it.

And I don’t think Isaac and Waluigi are screwed just because they’re AT’s. Both of those characters have been Smash community favorites for a long time. It’s not hard to toggle an AT off. IF Ultimate is a love letter to the Smash community I don’t need see them being off the table.

Well to you and me, they're just a bunch of JPEG images but I'm confident that Sakurai thinks differently about them. They power you up, act as a role-play of that character and are used as prizes for online tournaments so I'm not going to rule out the possibility that spirits deconfirm characters (As much as everyone is tired of hearing that).

You know, this game of who FP5 is reminds me of the Most Dangerous Game. With the credible Insiders as the hunters and the potential characters as the survivalists. So far Hayabusa, Crash, Tracer, Scorpion, Doom Slayer(ironically), and Geno have been shot dead(until next game). And several others are still alive at the moment.

Ah yes, new companies such as Sega and Square-Enix. Honestly, with Snake joining all the way back in Brawl, I can't believe it took them this long to add a Sega character.

People are still looking over a Dark Souls character even after the traction it got from that leak. Dark Souls is Namco's biggest franchise for last generation and some of this one. Seeing a Dark Souls character, my preference is the Soul of Cinder, at the GA's would not surprise me at all.

Soul of Cinder would have a lot of potential for a varied moveset since he's

the amalgamation of the souls of the previous protagonists from Dark Souls 1 and 2, along with the soul of Gywn himself,

but it would look awkward being scaled down. If they made him any shorter than Ganondorf though he would look more like a regular player character dressed in his armor.

Pretty much all the Dark Souls bosses would have that issue. I remember that Knight Artorias rumor from a while back and thought the same thing.

I'm going to be honest that, if we get a TGA reveal for Fighter Pass 5, no matter what Sakurai said about "Being fun to play is better than being recognizable" I feel that showing the Fighter Pass 5 at the TGA means that said character have a broadcast appeal or out of the Appeal of Nintendo fans, a character that would perhaps be too "out of place" in a Nintendo Direct.

And I'd agree, but for me, Smash Ultimate last reveal was Joker, as it was announced before the game released- which is by itself something preeeetty big, and fit that "Out of the smash/Nintendo fanbase" character.

We now know that the Mii Costumes aren't related to the FP5, and with the recent speaking of Sabi and Vergeben, we know that:
-It's not Ryu
-Not Crash
-Not Scorpion
-Not Geno
-Not Doomguy

Most of them have been big in the speculation circle for most of it (except Scorpion, however like Doomguy, a TGA reveal for him would be natural)
Now, taking into account this, and "what kind of character would being a massive appeal" outside of Nintendo fans, the following are the one I see:

- Dante, obviously is the one I see the most in that case, DMC V did amazingly, and had a live performance of Devil Trigger last TGA. I can see him bring another massive surprise and appeal to everyone, making him a case of "more people happy than unhappy"
-LLoyd, okay, that one is an odd-one, lots of people would say that "BUT TALES OF SYMPHONIA IS NINTENDO!" or heavily related to Nintendo, however I think it's not true as since Tales of the Abyss Portable on 3DS or Vesperia Definitive edition,, we didn't get any Tales of game or mainline tales of game, as they're now mostly/exclusively on Playstations (Alongside the Xillia,2,Graces, Real final version of Abyss and lots and lots of others games.)
-And that last one is just my personal Bias, but I still believe that if Sora is getting announced, it's not in a classic Nintendo Direct, but in one of those mainstream appeal event, like TGA or E3, and with Kingdom Hearts 3 being out this year, and probably absolutely in the best RPG of the year catégory (even if the fans reception was lukewarm at best, the game is still a great game nonetheless), I wouldn't be surprised if he could get his announcement here.

I don't believe this. If we end up getting 1st parties, I think Xenoblade is always a possibility. Astral Chain is another likely one. An ARMS rep was a glaring omission. And don't get me started on other 1st parties with no playable reps like Style Savvy. Famicom Detective was once considered for Smash and they're making a reboot so it could be used as a promo pick. I haven't even touched Echoes yet. I could go on, but I think you get the idea, and we have no idea what direction future DLC will go.
