Okay, then how about the fact that PP didn't had any spirit in the base game, where there was a spirit for ALL of mario's enemies, but hey, who care?
How about the fact that not a single fighter is a spirit after being 4/5 fighters in?
Do you think that fighter 5 will magically change that?

Spoiler, it won't.
People though that pre-release, that the fighter pass will have Spirits as fighter.
It didn't.
And it won't.
I agree that for FP5 there’s not a chance in the world it will be a spirit upgraded
However, I honestly do think that beyond that any first parties are up for grabs, spirits and at’s included

I mean, they already finalized the DLC, with Spirits in mind, so...

Hmmm.... how about the fact that PP was almost certainly planned for base game, since it has a unique Palutena’s Guidance while the rest of the DLC characters don’t? But hey, who cares?

If you actually read my comment you’d know I’m talking about Post Fighter’s Pass characters, which were only recently selected after the game was released.

The only thing that was finalized back when spirits were developed was the fighters pass DLC, anything after the fighters pass is done was not planned back then.
That does mean that Post-Pass Spirits promotion will actually be a thing next pass, I think.

I really hope that spirit promotion will be a thing in the next batch of characters.

Oh, and gimme a first party character or two while you're at it, Nintendo. Third parties are nice and definitely add more to it being the ultimate video game crossover, but let's not forget that this series started under the idea of pitting your favorite Nintendo characters against each other.

... Meanwhile, the fact that our E3 reveals were going to be from Square and Microsoft was obvious for months.
Do you remember why they were obvious? Leaks and rumors. Hero having a datamine to back him up. I'll also laugh if you consider Banjo a front runner for DLC anytime before Shinobi opened his mouth. Before that it was all Steve. We had 0 official hints or bread crumbs leading to their inclusion from any involved party.

In fact, considering Smash frontloads reveals, Capcom makes sense to me exactly because they're "obvious".
I disagree. Everyone and their mother predicts a capcom rep because "Super successful Series deserve to be in Smash". Contrary to that thought, I think the opposite. No franchise is deserving no matter how successful it is.

Ah yes, new companies such as Sega and Square-Enix. Honestly, with Snake joining all the way back in Brawl, I can't believe it took them this long to add a Sega character.
What are Armor Project and Atlus

Big disagree from me, chief. The only one that was remotely obvious was Hero, and even then people were still debating if it was DQ related or not.

ATs are a tricky thing to speculate about. In terms of programming I don't believe it's a big problem since they can just disable the AT of the character in question when they're fighting. And the team already has 3D models of the characters so part of the job is done. Now the question is if Sakurai is interested in revisiting these characters and making them playable. If I'm being brutally honest I only expect one AT to actually get promoted and it's Waluigi.

Yes, I admit I'm biased towards him, but an AT promotion would be done for the sole reason of fan demand. And Waluigi's fan demand has been explosive ever since last year to say the least. Reggie even had to respond to the backlash for crying out loud, he even said he would tell Sakurai about Waluigi. Whether it leads to Waluigi being playable is unknown, but at the very least we know Sakurai is aware of the demand for Waluigi.

After all that transpired, I'm posting more thoughts.

For me, Capcom reps are in the same place I felt all the way back in November. Too obvious. I don't think one is gonna happen in the FP.
It's not like people care about Capcom itself getting into Smash. It already is in Smash. The real question is "what series from Capcom will make the cut?" Now that could shock everyone given everybody has their own favorite Capcom series.

Though, maybe one wont happy for FP 5. I have no clue on who that'll be.

Monster Hunter with a different set of armor for each alt would be amazing, IMO.

Hell, you could solve the "issue" of no females in the pass by assigning four outfits for each gender.

Wasn't the Monster Hunter development team already against the hunter's inclusion into Marvel vs Capcom, though?

Looking at Smash 4, there are a few Mii costumes that haven't made the jump (Yet?) which could provide some talking points.

There's the obvious of Geno (and Chocobo) who didn't get added along with the Dragon Quest costumes and Heihatchi who didn't get added with the Fighting Game characters but there's also Gilgamesh and Lloyd of Namco fame and two different Monster Hunter outfits. Am I missing any?

I still dont understand the notion of "Spirits and Assists cannot be promoted" yet we still have a Chrom Mii Costume, Chrom in Robin's Final Smash and Chrom as a playable character

Toon Link doesnt appear in the Spirit Tracks stage if he's in the match, and Knuckles is unusable if you're on Green Hill Zone. We can go on and on about fan rules but this is the biggest one that people are hypocritical about. If Sakurai sees that certain characters are highly requested I cannot understand why he wouldnt want to make their fans happy by making them playable. He's gonna do whatever he wants

The only first party inclusion I can see happening post-fighters pass are the Astral Chain protagonists
I said it before and I'll say it again and again until it happens lol

In Marvel vs Capcom 3, yes. They eventually allowed it with Marvel Infinite, where she comes with the Rathalos Armor and Kirin Armor. Not to mention the Hunter Armor and Rathalos Armor Hunters made it to Smash 4 as Mii Costumes, making Monster Hunter the 3rd Capcom series to appear in Smash.

That's only the case for Marvel vs Capcom 3. The development team was fine with Monster Hunter getting a character in Infinite years later.

At first, yeah.

They ultimately went forward with the idea and put Monster Hunter in MvC: Infinite.

For 1st party reps, I do want to say we could get a Three Houses rep if Sakurai adds in more 1st party reps post-pass. I do hope for Edelgard but I fully expect Byleth will be picked instead.

Astral Chain could get a rep, too. And maybe Rex/Pyra will finally be upgraded to playable status?

Those are the only ones I can think of.

Oh yeah, Mega Man X and Megaman.EXE Gunner costumes.

So this could be leading into something from Square, Namco or Capcom.

A modder noticed that the slots for solo nana and solo popo were removed in 6.0.0.
It seems like the ssbu team were working on a new DLC fighter that uses the tag team mechanic from the Ice Climbers and testing out the separate solo versions of the new tag team fighter and then later got rid of all separate solo versions of them.

Hmmm... Now what gaming duo could be coming to gaming besides the already present Banjo and Kazoie?

Jill and Chris?
Clair and Leon?
Yooka and Laylee?
Sam and Max?
Rockstar Games and Controversy?

in the second season i would be shocked if fire emblem three houses, astral chain, and xenoblade didnt get a character. i'd take that over a AT upgrade.
as for FP5, i want anthoer big time third party but i think the guess depends on whether you think the reveal is happening at VGAs or not.some of these guesses wouldnt be shown there. they wouldnt get a reaction to that audience.

note:if you are one of the people that wants a 1st party rep dont get mad when its fe or astral chain and not what you wanted.

Then go ahead. Prove me wrong.
Until we see a single Spirit becoming a DLC THAT rule is moot point.
How about the fact that not a single fighter is a spirit after being 4/5 fighters in?
Do you think that fighter 5 will magically change that?

Spoiler, it won't.
You are right.

In fact, you forgot another rule: DLC characters can't be female. The irrefutable proof is that, so far, 4/5 is male.

Oh, and that other rule: DLC characters are forced to be bipedal. So far, there's no denial.

Last but not least, there's the rule that say that DLC can't be from a serie that debuted after 2000. Until now, that rule is right.

I agree that for FP5 there’s not a chance in the world it will be a spirit upgraded
However, I honestly do think that beyond that any first parties are up for grabs, spirits and at’s included
This.

Honestly, though. Resident Evil seems obvious enough as it has been pushed recently by Nintendo with nearly every main game in the series been ported to the Switch in some way, but Monster Hunter and Ace Attorney are also big Capcom series that have had a presence on Nintendo consoles. Devil May Cry was never on Nintendo consoles prior to the Switch, but that hasn't stopped people from wanting Dante. Okami's Amaterasu has also had supporters over the years. Even though they're already in the game, Street Fighter and Mega Man still have potential for more inclusions. There's plenty of more Capcom series that Sakurai could surprise us with like Dead Rising, Darkstalkers, Ghosts 'n Goblins, etc.

Smash Ultimate covers all the past well but because they had to bring back all the old stuff, it's a bit lacking on the modern content. The Inkling is the only character to have debuted on the WiiU and there's only one stage based on a Switch game in New Donk City (Two if you count the DQ11 one).

May be something for DLC to fill out.

I remember ThatShadowLink ThatShadowLink proposed a moveset for a concept tag team Resident Evil fighter.

I mean, Maya’s always right by Phoenix...it’s how it worked in UMvC3, too. I never really thought about the potential of Phoenix getting in with Maya cause I thought it would’ve been too much work for the dev team to reasonably do.
