I personally don’t think Lloyd will be the fifth fighter pass. The four so far have all come from drastically different genres with totally different feels (the closest being Dragon Quest and Persona since they are both rpgs, but even then they feel totally different). I’m not denying that Lloyd is very popular, and I think he has a good shot for post pass, but I think the 5th pass character will be from a series that brings in a totally new genre and new feel (imo either resident evil for survival horror or ace attorney for visual novel)

If you think that Dragon Quest and Persona are totally different, then you might as well not consider Tails the same genre considering how different it is from them.

To be fair, I really don’t know much at all about Tales so there’s a really good chance you’re right about that. Even still though, I just feel like Lloyd would bring less to the table than the other characters. It also feels to me like Tales is just less of an iconic and legacy series than the four so far in the pass, but that may just be me

Oh, it's just a personal hope of mine; I'm not sure if there's any actual leak that mentions Spirits being promoted.

And yes, Mythra would be amazing. I'd still prefer that her and Pyra fight alongside Rex since I value accuracy to the source material above all else, but I suppose that she could work if Smash took a page from Torna.

Considering Mythra is my most wanted, obviously I'd be on board with this too. But I prefer her to come alongside Rex and Pyra as well. I also had Torna in mind when thinking of them together in Smash, but instead in the way you can toggle between them and have them perform some kind of attack as you swap from one character to the other with down B or something.

If there's any merit to the mention of the SSBU team tinkering with a DLC fighter with an Ice Climber mechanic, that could work for Rex + Aegis too I guess. Though I feel like it would be a bit clumsier gameplay wise.

Last night, I said that if Doom Slayer is in fact deconfirmed for Fighter 5, that my next prediction would be Monster Hunter.
But after sleeping on it, I'm just legit stumped as to who Fighter 5 is. My gut has moved from Monster Hunter to Lloyd due to a few facts:

I don't necessarily believe Lloyd will be FP5 (though he has a good chance) but I could see him being a TGA reveal. Symphonia is the most popular worldwide and Tales of Arise being advertised there wouldn't surprise me.

Would a Smash icon even require a trademark? Icons are usually trademarked for brand recognition/logos for products, and I fail to see why a trademark would be necessary for a small appearance in a large fighting game. Also, how does the PAC-MAN interaction hint at a Namco fighter? I felt that that whole bit was just rambling about office shenanigans, and the fact that Namco doesn’t even remember that PAC-MAN is playable based on that seems to imply that they aren’t very interested in having a fighter to begin with.

It has been a while since I played XC2, admittedly, but if we're shooting for accuracy, wouldn't Rex have 2 additional Blades as well?

If multiple personas were too much for Joker to have, I think it's a little unrealistic to expect more Blades in his moveset other than Pyra/Mythra.

I’m not doubting third party popularity. I get it. But I also don’t think the entirety of Smash DLC will consist of it.

And I don’t think Isaac and Waluigi are screwed just because they’re AT’s. Both of those characters have been Smash community favorites for a long time. It’s not hard to toggle an AT off. IF Ultimate is a love letter to the Smash community I don’t need see them being off the table.

The point is even if we got the assist trophy upgrades which I don’t think will happen, there were only two in the top ten. Its very likely those don’t get upgraded, so then what? Again, I just want to say that the new tales trademark icon looks absolutely nothing like a smash symbol and Vesperia was the first in the series to start using books as the save icon. If this trademark was for smash then it would be listed as smash. Even then the book indicates Vesperia (Yuri) more than Lloyd. If the trademark had the triangle save point from Symphonia it would be more evidence but right now nothing points to that being for smash news.

I think the only 1st-party reps who would be able to bring enough hype to warrant their creation as a separate DLC character are Splatoon, FE3H or popular Pokemon characters at this point, probably. As much as I'd love to believe Advance Wars could get in as DLC, Nintendo needs DLC characters who have widespread popularity in order to sell them.

I don't think it would be difficult in Smash (nor a Darkstalkers game). Just make a handful of character models and have swapable costumes to fit each character.

No I don’t think that, I think that is a small indicator of the broader scale of things that sakurai is looking at, the most dedicated smash bros players are often Nintendo people and if that core isn’t even asking for much first parties it’s guaranteed to be worse looking broad scale and for mass advertising.

Honestly the reason smash reveals and Nintendo directs have even become what they are today these monumental must watch events even by those who arent even crazy smash fans is because the possibility of crazy third parties reveals of people’s favorite games. Sakurai and Nintendo know this, there just isn’t much of a reason to focus on first party anymore except advertisement for one of their games. I don’t think Isaac is coming cause I don’t think Nintendo has any plans to do anything with Golden sun, if that changes he will probably make it in.


Lastly using the dlc smash characters to further strengthen alliances with third party companies is brilliant and I’m sure they want to continue doing it.

I’d LOVE for Andy to make it as DLC. If we could get Golden Sun, Advance Wars, and Rhythm Heaven representation it would be great. I also think people underestimate all the Smash players that would buy additional fighters regardless just to have them.

If we didn’t have the Fighter Pass I bet people would still buy characters like Terry even though they’re not that popular. Just make the character fun to play.

The more I see Sabi the more I get sick of seeing them. Sabi is the prime example why Vergeben doesnt pop in constantly and talk about leaks. It's so obvious that Sabi doesnt know anything but Sabi continues to talk about Smash leaks despite not leaking a single thing unless other people bring up stuff
