100% agree on Spirits. AT's... I'm a bit more hesitant.

Being an AT is a higher honor than a spirit. It means the character is more deserving than others. Taking AT out means you're forced to picked in second hands characters: that feels wrong.

Think about it: if the first SSB had AT in its time, there would have been characters like Bowser, Wario or Diddy as ATs. Can you imagine that on an hypothetical DLC, they would have come to then non-AT characters like Piranha Plant, Ashley or Bidoof, only because they had their worthy characters already in use as AT? I can't believe it. And I can't believe it for Ultimate either.

In fact, you forgot another rule: DLC characters can't be female. The irrefutable proof is that, so far, 4/5 is male.

Oh, and that other rule: DLC characters are forced to be bipedal. So far, there's no denial.

Last but not least, there's the rule that say that DLC can't be from a serie that debuted after 2000. Until now, that rule is right.

I disagree with Nekoo, but even I agree that you have a pretty stupid strawman.

We know the 5 Fighter Pass characters will not be characters from series already present in the game; as spirits, ATs, or otherwise. That may change for post-pass, but there's a reason why Persona 5, DQ, SNK, and Banjo-Kazooie had no spirits/Mii costumes AT ALL in the game beforehand.

Now it may change for the Post-Pass as Sakurai might decide to put heavily requested characters that were only spirits before in; maybe we may even get ATs as characters. However, we can pretty much conclude that FP 5 will be from a series that is not present in Smash Ultimate.

So finally deciding after 6 years given advice and experience from my cousins husbands mother from feeding their dogs to begin giving my dogs a raw food diet notably white rice, chicken, sweet potato, broccoli, etc.

Given her dog used to have ear infections due to this. This might solve my dogs as well along with her stomach and bowel issues.

If I'm being brutally honest I only expect one AT to actually get promoted and it's Waluigi.

Yes, I admit I'm biased towards him, but an AT promotion would be done for the sole reason of fan demand. And Waluigi's fan demand has been explosive ever since last year to say the least.

In my totally objective point of view, the most likely AT upgrade is Isaac. Remember Sakurai saying he want to brings new worlds, and Golden Sun still doesn't have the fighter it deserves since Brawl.

That's why I have so mixed feelings toward Isaac. If there are AT upgrade, I'm certain he is in. But there's an "if" and nothing leads to totally believe it will be the case.

Well data miners have found that the Smash team has been tinkering aroudn with another copy of the Ice Climbers which seems to indicate there's another tag team fighter on the way. Either that or they're perfecting Sub-Zero's Ice Clones.

That's a theory discussed to death already. H is probably ambiguous to us. I have no idea on what game companies that start with H that are either quite niche or not but it's just a theory.

Mii costume theory believers must save their hopes for season 2 coz FP5 is not for them.

I haven't played Astral Chain, would a leigion be closer to a second Ice Climber/Luma, or Arsene? It's my only good guess as to who this could be.

Or maybe a PMD rep, with two characters representing the MC and their partner? The Chorus Kids? the return of Plusle/Minun or Dixie/Somebody? Some sort of Party mechanic for an RPG character? There's options here, but Akira is the only one I'm seriously considering.

My heart says Phoenix and Maya but my mind says I'm an idiot. Can't really think of anyone else though, Rex & Pyra and Officer Howard are the best options but neither of them are possible for the FP for obvious reasons.

Edit: oh **** Chorus Kids or Plusle & Minun. No way it's the latter but if we get the Kids somehow I'll film myself doing a backflip and upload every failed try.

Here's a company starting with H: Human Entertainment.
Makes the Twilight Syndrome series about high school girls investigating paranormal activity.
It did have a game on the Nintendo DS but the entire series was never localized.

-Monster Hunter got Rathalos and a stage
-Heihachi appears in Pacman's roullette
-Gilgamesh appears in Pacman's roullette
-Geno is at least a spirit
-Chocobo (Final Fantasy) still has Cloud to represent the series, even if the costume is missing.
-Meanwhile Tales doesn't have a single spirit

I mean it may all be a coincidence, but I'm thinking that a Tales character will 99% appear in the future at this point. Even if character 5 is a Namco rep that isn't Tales, I would still bet that either Lloyd/Yuri show up post-pass.

Most defnitely. Everyone is down for the Tales rep at this point, though it seems that, if majority go for Lloyd, I wouldn't be surprised and there's that 80% part of me that's guaranteed to be ticked off by...you know.

Doubt it's anyone. Was probably a coincidence that the companies each character is owned by lined up like that. (Although I consider any ATLUS character a Sega Sammy character now since they own ATLUS.)

I'd say Hudson Soft because i'm a huge Bomberman fan. But Hudson is dead and Bomberman is an assist trophy. Unfortunately.

The theory has been brought up on occasion, particularly since the fourth Fighters Pass character being from SNK was leaked. However, I'm not sure if they'd pick Smash DLC based purely on an acronym.

Most probable DLC passes for me include an echoes pass, a spirits pass, and an all-females pass.

I really want a Tales rep because its one of the last major JRPGs not in Smash and having Tales, Persona, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, and Earthbound together would be a dream come true.

I don't think that works as an Echo, like if Dr. Mario isn't one then such a massive overhaul, even if it had Pichu as a base, probably wouldn't be either.

I really hope that spirit promotion will be a thing in the next batch of characters.

Oh, and gimme a first party character or two while you're at it, Nintendo. Third parties are nice and definitely add more to it being the ultimate video game crossover, but let's not forget that this series started under the idea of pitting your favorite Nintendo characters against each other.

I really want a Tales rep because that would mean having almost all the major JRPGs in Smash.

Pretty much the same here, after Tales the only major JRPG series that are still active and not represented in Smash are:
- Ys (Adol)
- The Legend of Heroes/Trails (Estelle/Rean)
- Kingdom Hearts (Sora)
- Drakenguard/Nier (2B)
- Atelier? (Ryza)

And out of these, the only ones that I think that have a serious shot at making DLC is Kingdom Hearts/Drakenguard. Unless Sakurai seriously loves any of the other series, and wants them in.

I kinda hope that KOS-MOS ends up being #5 and the Tales character comes in after, just because I really like KOS-MOS.

That said, I'm pretty split on Yuri/Lloyd. I love both of them, and they both have their own reasons to get in; but it'll suck seeing the trailer for 1 of them because you know the other will 100% be a mii costume.

Oh, it's just a personal hope of mine; I'm not sure if there's any actual leak that mentions Spirits being promoted.

And yes, Mythra would be amazing. I'd still prefer that her and Pyra fight alongside Rex since I value accuracy to the source material above all else, but I suppose that she could work if Smash took a page from Torna.

Until we see a single Spirit becoming a DLC THAT rule is moot point.

Nekoo, I love you man, but this is an incredibly stupid argument that accomplishes next to nothing.

Fan rules have been broken an exceeding number of times these past two Smash games. Yes, nothing says Spirits can be fighters, but the same can be said otherwise. It would take exceedingly minimal effort to change a spirit's name to something like "Geno (Classic)" and call it a day. There is absolutely nothing stopping spirits at this point beyond fan conceptions.

That said, I don't think fighter 5 will be an established spirit because, yes, there IS a theme with the DLC so far. That also doesn't mean it can't happen, and especially doesn't mean DLC after that can't be spirits.

Shining... And Phantasy Star, though the latter is a JRPG series that is alive, but not so much as a JRPG series at this point (PSO2, es, and IDOLA are all active though)...

Granted, if you do count mobile spinoffs, then Langrisser and the like persist as well.

i mean they revealed new characters in order of their game debut during smash ultimate trailers. even down to characters in the same year still going in order.

I mean, I have to wonder if maybe, as they were planned in Smash 4 (assuming they were totally the Rhythm character like the Gemetsu leak stated), if they were going to work that much like the Ice Climbers to begin with. They didn't design Duck Hunt or Rosalina and Luma that way at the same time, and maybe not even Plusle and Minum of Brawl's cut characters (assuming it was totally them), as they had just the one character file in the code. And most damning, the series emblem listing in the code that included Rhythm also lacked Ice Climber despite definitively being planned for the game, suggesting the problem with the Ice Climbers might not have been what stopped the Chorus Kids from getting in.

...But maybe they don't have to work exactly like the Ice Climbers to have taken inspiration from them in such a way?

I personally don’t think Lloyd will be the fifth fighter pass. The four so far have all come from drastically different genres with totally different feels (the closest being Dragon Quest and Persona since they are both rpgs, but even then they feel totally different). I’m not denying that Lloyd is very popular, and I think he has a good shot for post pass, but I think the 5th pass character will be from a series that brings in a totally new genre and new feel (imo either resident evil for survival horror or ace attorney for visual novel)
