You say I only hear what I want to.

And yes, I'm going to continue to keep quoting the tropes. I'd actually been planning to do this in the next game I played. My idea was that if I could condense longer posts by other people into a much shorter phrase, it would help me keep track of what I'm thinking about people. I tend to find that my posts get too long and involved, which sometimes helps, but usually just leads to My Skull Runneth Over, among other things. I'm going to see if using these can help keeps things more concise.
McFox, do you generally keep up with other games that you're not in? Specifically I'm interested in Nothing Special Mafia.

Also, could you tell me when/where you got this idea? I know these seem like weird questions, but I'm making connections, I swear!

@ Newbies: just a headsup. Being inactive is really bad for the game. I encourage you to post to your hearts' content. It will really help town in endgame to determine who is mafia, because the more information and posts we have to go off of, the more likely we will be to catch scum. So don't be shy and please post. (also it is the point of the game, correct? :bee:)

Typically there's no clear line separating random voting from the rest of the game. It's usually more organic than that. If everyone continues to post, it'll happen.

May, I didn't actually keep up with Nothing Special, but I did read Moriarty's posts because they were hilarious. Unfortunately it got them killed. While I'm sort of doing something similar, it's for entirely different reasons.

@Everbody: what do you think about a massclaim, right now? Exactly What It Says on the Tin, this would be everyone claiming what role they have toDay.

So basically you want masons and monks to speak?

What benefit do you think town would gain from this?

Everyone who isn't a monk or mason will probably just claim Vanilla Townie, so...

I like the idea of this discussion as a means to get us out of RVS, though. (That's what we're trying to do, right? :p)

Also, wouldn't people who claim monk/mason have a better chance of being night killed?

Hmm. . . I'll like to point out that since this is only a semi-open game, we don't even know if a monk and/or mason exist.

I suppose that any monks/masons could lie during a mass roleclaim, although that would make it so that we don't even get the benefits that they can give us. On top of that, it would make it even harder to find any mafia/werewolves. Also, as clownbot stated, if any monks/masons do roleclaim they will probably just be killed off that night after. Right now the cons outweigh the pros when it comes to roleclaiming. It might be good to wait for latter, though.

Perhaps simply giving Mcfox an answer to his question is what's going to get this game out of the rvs. I can already feel this game getting more 'organic'. :lick:

There are 2 masons and there are 2 monks, this is confirmed. But a mason could be a werewolf and a monk could be mafia.

No. There are no independents.

There are three factions: town, mafia, werewolves.

There are 8 townies.
There are 2 mafiosi who know each other and can communicate. They have a nightkill.
There are 2 werewolves who know each other and can communicate. They have a nightkill.

Among these three factions,
There are 2 monks who know each other not to be werewolves and can communicate.
There are 2 masons who know each other not to be mafiosi and can communicate.

So take one mason, and let's say he is a townie mason. He knows that his mason partner is not in the mafia, but his mason partner might still be a werewolf.

See?

So the masons become fully clear when all werewolves are dead, and the monks become fully clear when all the mafia are dead.

A roleclaim on day one. Wow that's a pretty desperate attempt to get out of RVS. What could you possibly gain with claiming roles? Do you expect mafia/werewolves to claim that they are? They will just claim Vanilla townie ._.

I think we have a new karthik_king. :p

"Claiming roles will be useless because no one will claim scum."

I just wanted to gather thoughts on it.

Also, Tom I'm really glad you explained that in detail.

Vote: Frown

Why is your vote still on yourself. I figured it was a joke, but it's now a few days later and your vote is still there. Self-voting is almost NEVER in your best interest. The only times it can be are when you are scum (specifically, near the end of a day).

We have time, Wiz. Forcing a lynch without much to go on isn't a very good idea in forum Mafia, even on D1 information can be gathered to get a viable lynch candidate.

Us newbies aren't posting as much as we should be, and Frown seems to be the most guilty of this. Not talking seems to be kinda scummy to me.

Also I'll like to give my thanks to Tom for pointing out my mistake and explaining the whole monk/mason situation that we have in this game.

I'm sorry, Frown, but not posting seems to me like you're trying to lay low. I know I'm making an inference based on little evidence, but as of now it's the most evidence that I have for telling who's scum.

Really, most of the town has been "laying low" as much as Frown. Thought the mass claim discussion would get us out of RVS enough so that we would generate more activity but I guess not.

Yeah, I know that most of us have been lurking, but Frown has been doing the most, which is why I'm going after him. Honestly, I could also attack someone like TWILTHERO, Super Smash Bros. Fan (despite his computer problems), or Wizzerd for their lurking, but I figured that if I'm going to go after someone for lurking, I might as well go after the one that's been doing it the most.

I also thought that the mrc discussion would get things rolling, but oh well to that idea.

Frown has a higher number of posts in the thread than TWILTHERO and Guus (KevinM and SSBF as well, but in their case it's excusable). Also noticed TWILT viewing the thread a lot but hardly ever posting. If I recall correctly he had a chance to answer McFox's question before anyone else (or at least most others) but he didn't take it.

Vote TWILTHERO

Sorry dood = /

I'm not counting the posts before the start of the game.

Although what you said about twilt visiting this thread often but not posting is interesting.

Hmm. . . I'll think about it, and I might change my vote.
