It won't be a worse game because of it, but it obviously won't.
Whoops, I hope I didn't imply that. Just wondering that since there was a market (OR WHATEVER) for competitive (ortraditionalolol) fighters now, Sakurai may take notice. 'COURSE IT WILL ALWAYS BE A PARTY GAME. :awesome:

Smash Bros will also always feature two certain plumbers who don't really ever do any plumbing (at all!), a angry ape who somehow has a nephew monkey (don't wanna know how that breeding happened), a dude who grunts and doesn't speak any civilized language, a woman in a super suit, a dinosaur that poops eggs and eats anything, a pink puffball that can transform, a space animal that carries all kinds of futuristic gadgets, a electric mouse that is lightning quick, a puffball that can blow you up, a psychic boy who can light you on fire, and a bounty hunter/racer whose nipples are God's greatest creation.

Haha, that Falcon referance was good.

Anyway, what are you looking forward to as far as online goes? Any features that would be worthwhe too play online? What would you think of Street Pass?

Personally I hope we never see a pass like Mortal Kombat's online does, it's people only streching there dollar, but if it meant a good experience without any lag and nice features, then sure, why not.

Online Needs to be Playable first; after that, the real smashfest beginnnsss!!! :D

@OmegaXVII

Any Captain Nipples Falcon reference is good.

Well first of all the next smash bros would need playable online. Let me say that again: The online needs to be PLAYABLE!!! (hear my warning Nintendo, hear meeeeehhhh!!!!) *stops acting like a ghost*

I still remember struggling for over 500 matches over a 6 month span hoping the online would get better, hoping it would get better, HOPING it would get better, but to no avail.

Then after that major fix, actual make friends lists with no friends' codes (I got a place for friend's codes though: THE DUMP!), teaming up with friends, and (hopefully) friend chat/party rooms. After that, a ton of stuff that is actually enjoyable because of my latter points.

-3v3 or 4v4 game play (online and offline; probably a 1% shot at best, but it could be cool if properly implemented; it would make crew matches a lot cooler).

-Leader boards: Fight your way up the leader boards by winning matches. Possibly divided into singles and doubles, and allow casuals and competitive smashers play with near equal players.

-More options and advance game play match searching. For example, separate stock, time, bonus (if it ever comes back), or coin (if anyone ever plays it; I seriously want there to be competitive coin matches!) or playing with or without items, etc. Heck, maybe even as a host allow someone to drop in a match while it's happening (and give them equal lives and stamina to the most damaged person).

-A search option for zany match search, like Super Giant Metal smash, tiny invisible slow mode super spicy curry smash, etc.

-Competitive and casual online tournaments, hosted both by Nintendo and fans.

-All single players modes (even classic) playable online with up to 4 people.

-Downloadable updates to improve the online, and keep adding to it with new modes, increased customization, and possibly others suggestions given directly from the online community.

-A ranking system for each single player mode time/score records (ie: home run contest, break the targets, etc), possibly with various sizes and character combos considered.

-A place where you can download, rate, and comment on stages, photos, videos, and guides that Nintendo, and especially the fans post (possibly have it as a "channel," like the Check Mii Out Channel on the Wii).

-Possibly have a trophy/sticker trading center. Have a region-specific trophies and stickers that you can get a ton of through work and you can trade to people in a different region.

-Possible DLC for new content, fixing major issues (Meta Knight's infinite down B, anything that causes the slowdown of frames offline) or something absolutely broken (Pikachu in SSB64!!!!), new downloadable music music, downloadable past and future stages, downloadable outfits, and downloadable characters even (which I wouldn't mind turning over a pretty penny for).

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat
Disregard for now, it will take place soon but not now.

@JohnKnight: I totally agree with you there, I especially am looking forward to DLC content as well as well....NO LAG with smoother handling and no more disconnections, also the leaderboards idea is a nice add-on that should happen, a IM type of feature should also be integrated without word restriction, preferably during a match or after it like in Brawl.

The top 10 reasons Sakurai should get a haircut to make him look like Princess Peach, and whether or not Sakurai's dog (that was in a picture in Pokémon Stadium 2) will be playable or not!

Nah really, we've discussed Japan's opinions on Brawl and smash characters (they want Roy and Mewtwo back... and their new character opinions are very consistent with ours), what SSB4's online should be like, Ridley, Geno, and what the heck will happen with the 65th Generation Pokémon Rep, and what the heck might be up with the Mario series in smash with the possibility of one or more Mario newcomers, as well as numerous character predictions, stage ideas, character move sets, item ideas, etc.

tl;dr
Same crap as the previous 100 pages. We are officially TOO HYPED for smash bros Wii U!!!

Yup, we definetly have covered most bases by now, we need some new news concerning Smash 4, otherwise I doubt we'll be discussing anything new, there have been lots of rumors, one that recently emerged saying "no Lucario or Mewtwo" as well as "no more DK and FE 3rd rep."

Here's a teensy idea.

Make the landing lag of aerial moves' duration be affected by the frame at which you land. So if say you land just at the end of Marth's D-air, the landing lag would be much shorter compared to if you had landed just at the beginning.

MORE FLUID?

Haha, no 3rd DK rep. That's a funny joke. What next, 5 new Star Fox reps, including both of Andross' forms, Slippy, ROB 64, that one old dog general that doesn't do crap, and that stupid Panther=???

Really, all these predictions are stupid. The character rumor that was completely 100% right about Brawl came out around 2-6 months before Brawl's release (which I believe came from Serebii.net's webhost from a "connection"), so we'll likely see similar things happen again.

Plus my money bets that eventually Nintendo will slip a character.

With Melee, Miyamoto slipped Jigglypuff was in the game in a interview (Jiggz wasn't exactly a "no duh" returning SSB64 character either).

David Hayter (the English voice actor of Snake) did the same thing in Brawl also with Jigglypuff.

Of course, that famed sticker trailer accidentally revealed Jiggglypuff (a "no duh"), Ness (who was seen as many, including myself at the time, "deconfirmed"), and Lucario (an anxiously awaited newcomer most of us felt would be in the game).

I still remember that guy who created the anti-Lucario, pro-Squirtle thread that said "Lucario is not necessary to the franchise, while arguing Magicarp is totally necessary! XD Good times! :009: :150: :007:

Another Japanese trailer released about he same time kinda in a way revealed or at least hyped Toon Link's eventual appearance, with his Outset Island clothing trophy (dubbed "Outset Link") in full cel-shaded graphics.

I totally agree with you there, I especially am looking forward to DLC content as well as well....NO LAG with smoother handling and no more disconnections, also the leaderboards idea is a nice add-on that should happen, a IM type of feature should also be integrated without word restriction, preferably during a match or after it like in Brawl.
Yeah the overall lag needs to be the #1 priority (having friends/a friend's list should be more a hardware and online system thing, thus is totally unrelated). Everything else comes second. Brawl had some nice features, sure, but Brawl's laggy online made them near worthless to most of us.

If Nintendo wants to add DLC to this game to charge money for, they need to put BANK into this game's online (which is hard to do when your stock prices fall 10,000 Japanese yen), and make it addicting, and make it to where the game leaves you wanting for more... everything.

As for the party thing, I was thinking more like a party chat feature like that of ventrilla, xbox live party chat, and PSN party chat, but IM'ing should totally be there, too, along with video and voice messaging systems. There's no reason the Wii U shouldn't have all of those as basic features. The DS has voice chat, the 3DS has voice chat, and probably some sort of messaging system. Why shouldn't the Wii U have this=??? These ideas and concepts go back to like 2005 with the original Xbox, and Nintendo is still 6 years behind.

Edit: Here is a cute picture to make up for me going to sleep. Hopefully it makes you go "NAAWWWWHHH!!!!!" like my inner woman felt like doing... except I'm not a woman....

I have an idea about the controls which have my suggestions though. I'm not saying it's likely!

A - Attack
B - Special
A+B - Smash special
X - Jump
Y - Aerial rave
R analog - Smash
L analog - Move
D - pad - Taunt
L - Grab
R - Grab
LZ - Dodge
RZ - Shield

If you want to know what aerial rave and smash special is, just go check the backroom and see the "upcoming competitive scene" discussion

If Geno appears as a playable character in Fortune Street, then he becomes more likely to become playable, but I doubt that's going to happen.

And as we can all agree, his chances are very low although not zero. Also, this makes me wonder why Geno supporters haven't thought to push him into sequel and other Mario games. It could have really helped Geno's chances.

Melee's defensive mechanics are more controllable than Brawl's, especially since Melee's shields are pressure sensitive.

However, Brawl's mid-air dodges are better, since they don't leave you helpless after being used.

like what? 10% of the people who will buy SSB4 instead of 5%?

there is a market of course , but I assume Nintendo/Project Sora can still pretty much **** on it, even in 2013

Anyone willing to tell what has been talked about past 100 pages??
Sure.

This will be the condensed version though. Quite a bit of Derp to sift through.
_ _ _

Do you think that the characters will, at the very least, be looked at? Since they didn't make it to Brawl's roster, do you think Sakurai will still consider finishing them up for the next ones? Just a thought.
Forbidden 7 topic

Sakurai had an interview with IGN and "Deconfirmed" Toad
Decently established pranks

There's not much to discuss about.
As usual

I shall post what I have tomorrow
NEVER HAPPENS

This is ultimately about NINTENDO'S ALL-STARS. Which Sonic is not
Bias is still bias. Unfortunately

Which one, Classic or X? My vote is either one.
Talks of what to do with Megaman. Again

at this point the only true leaker that can be trusted is Serebii Joe himself.
The community is looking out for leaks

[COLLAPSE="'Interesting' leaks"]
-Sakurai wants to focus more on characters this time, and less on the extra fluff, though he still wants there to be plenty of extra content.

-Some of the assist trophy characters will become full characters, however Lucario will not be returning. Mewtwo is also out of the question, as are the Melee clones. It's also a possibility that some characters who were starters in Brawl will become unlockable in 4, much like Falcon and Ness from Melee to Brawl.

-Main control scheme will be Classic Controller, as the Wii U is not compatible with Gamecube tech. The tablet controller won't be for controlling characters, but there will be a use for it.

-Pokemon Trainer may get new pokemon. Another Pokemon Trainer character is "Highly unlikely"

-No new characters for "heavily populated" series, more focus will be put on series that need more characters. Star Fox series is "A notable exception" to the rule for some reason...

-No more Pikmin characters. Feels that Olimar is "suitable representation"

-No more F-Zero characters, as Falcon had to have a'lot of work done to become a character, and is the "face" of F-Zero. Having other characters would detract from this...

-No more Mother characters, as the series is still mainly a Japan exclusive. Lucas and Ness represent the major titles effectively.

-No more Donkey Kong characters, though Donkey Kong assist trophies are in high demand, and at least three new assist trophies are planned, including one from Diddy Kong Racing, which will be represented better in Smash 4.

-No more characters for the Yoshi and Wario series.

-No more Zelda characters; if Tingle were to become a character(NOT confirmed), he would get his own series icon and be the sole representative.

-No more Kirby characters.

-Kid Icarus will be receiving a major overhaul. Expect at least one new character, several assist trophies, and a new stage alongside the one from Brawl.

-For Metroid, there will be one new character added. One that fans requested, and was thought to be an impossible addition, but the team have found a way to add them to the game, though it won't be a perfect transition.

-Alternate costumes for characters other than Wario are "being looked into", still nothing concrete.

-No more Fire Emblem characters. Marth represents the old, while Ike represents the new. Fire Emblem is still going to recieve extra attention to other details however, including at least two new assist trophies.

-If a Third Party character has appeared in Smash, they are not likely to leave. In the case of Sonic, his reception was met positively, so SEGA has decided to give the development team free liberty to add him as a playable character. There won't be more than one character per company however. For example, if Capcom allowed the team to use both Ryu and Mega Man, they could only choose one.

-In addition to new stages, there will be a selection of classic stages from all 3 previous Smash titles. One in particular from the original was "missed dearly by the fans".

-Mario will incorporate a new move from the Galaxy series, and the Galaxy series will be represented proper in Smash 4. Galaxy wasen't represented in Brawl due to not having substantial content to work with, but now there is "plenty of content to derive from the Galaxy series, especially with two distinct titles".

Note that is is all tentaive and is subject to change. The game is not in actual development, these are merely ideas discussed by a board of nintendo employees and member of the development team. Kid Icarus is near completion and development will begin a few months after the release.
[/COLLAPSE]

No, an entire series of music was cut. Which means it was for a stage that does not belong to any of the series already in Brawl. This is what is being discussed.
Attempts to spark discussions. Never a good idea.

Also does Geno count as 1st or 3rd Party?
For some reason, we can't seem to put a fork in this one yet.

_ _ _

Finally, I think the cycle has made its way back to physics.

I think this would make a good alternate costume for Luigi if they really want to go crazy with the idea.

Not sure what you'd call it though. Casino Luigi? Dealer Luigi? Cards Luigi?

Wow, where did that appearance come from? I bet he could use his cards just like Dr. Mario uses his pills in a sense, would be based on random since he's like....a dealer who handles cards based on chance?

Tossing out flaming green cards would be a nice Gambitty touch.

And as far as I know, Luigi only appeared like that in his mini-games on Super Mario 64 DS.

I like that Casino Luigi idea as an alt costume. Have we ever had a Smash character who wears a suit?

:phone:
As a hack maybe, but not made by Nintendo.

Yes, instead of the "fireball" that cards would be tossed may e with greater damage and possibly some knockback, but then again he's just an alternate so maybe his balancing shouldn't be altered, it would be nice to be honest.

I'm also guessing Ridly could also have a Meta-Ridley alt.? You know something that actually makes him look different aside from color swaps?I don't know anything about him aside that he is very wanted by the Smash community.

@M&S Guy- Well, Casino Luigi should be the first. :)

@Omega- Yep, Ridley should have Meta Ridley as his alt, but what would his FS be? Omega Ridley?

If alternate costumes (AND RIDLEY) are ever confirmed, I think Meta-Ridley would be a given. I wouldn't think the models are too different. Unless they go with Other M Ridley then that kind of screws up everything. His proportions are weird.

ALTHOUGH, again, if they wanted to go crazy with alternate costumes, I'd suggest a costume based on Mecha-Ridley:

Mecha Ridley looks cool! I hope Other M isn't even referenced in Smash 4...

:phone:
People need to stop hating on this game so much.

It's far from perfect as the story was lacking in good execution in some areas, but the gameplay sets up a nice base for future console Metroid games.
