I mean, I am the world's biggest Pikmin fan forever and always without question until the end of time, and it doesn't really bother me. I don't necessarily prefer one to the other, but I do wish there were some consistency.

Or, perhaps a third option, "Captain Olimar?" I always hold on to this Diddy-Impa-esque (no offense :troll:) pipe dream that Louie will be playable someday, so maybe just Olimar and Louie would suffice.

Louie can be an assist trophy or a Captain Olimar alternate outfit.

Really, Captain Olimar is the perfect character for the Super Smash Bros franchise and the perfect playable character representation (although I don't like to use that term much) for the Pikmin series.

And yeah to Smash Boards coming back online! :)

Oh, absolutely. I would only ever consider campaigning for Louie for Smash when we're absolutely full on the roster. Perhaps around Smash 6 (typing the phrase "Smash 6" literally made me lol).

It is really nice to already have my favorite character ever in Smash already (and even nicer to know that his chances of being cut are slim).

Yeah Smash 6 does sound funny, but technically we are getting Smash 4 and 5. The question is which Smash Bros game will be Smash 4/5 (the Wii U or the 3DS smash bros)=???

And yeah, maybe in Smash 6 he could be a character we debate... if he becomes more unlike Olimar, possibly gets new Pikmin (Louie could possibly use up to 5 new Pikmin).

Plus we really don't know anything about Pikmin 3. It could have been in development for years (if that's the case, 5 new species of Pikmin could easily happen), development could have just begun (there could still be a lot of content), or it could not even be in the works.
Brawl is still quote competitive. It's more geared towards the casuals, but it's a very competitive game. We have a very large section of it for a reason. :p
It is, but I actually think the only reason Brawl "appeals more to casuals" is that it has more content than Melee. If you gave Melee the same graphics, roster, and features as Brawl, then even casuals would prefer Melee.
Well, they could announce some glaringly obvious returns besides the regular 4(Link, Mario, Kirby, Pikachu) in perhaps their planned style.
If we get a trailer anytime this year, that is what I expect (along with maybe a newcomer or two).
Speaking of Link, I have a feeling we're stuck with two Links for eternity. Child because Sakurai considers him the true version of Link, and Adult Link for the latest Console games.
I think a child Link is a lock by now, although I've been saying this since before Brawl was first revealed. Having two Links... just... "fits."

And no, let's put both child and adult Link in both games.

Edit: Fun fact: Assuming that Sonic returns in Smash with his new voice actor (who I think fits Sonic better than his last voice actor) and Mega Man is playable, we could have Chris Redfield (from Resident Evil) and Sonic the Hedgehog voiced by the same person in English. That's right, Sonic and Chris are voiced by the same dude.

Has anyone ever thought about the possibility of "Classic Ganon"? I don't mean as a replacement for Ganondorf, but just to give some representation to the old school Zelda games.

classic ganon would be sick, I couldnt see them ditching ganondorf, but him + k.rool + megaman + effing geno should be added

I agree with all of that! K. Rool has to be in by this point and there has been enough demand for Mega Man that his chances should be good. I guess Geno depends on Square Enix, but I would rather see him than a FF or DQ character. As for Ganon, I don't know if he has even been considered, but the least they could do is de-clone Ganondorf!

Classic Ganon could be a Final Smash form of Ganondorf. I have suggested several times that there should be two Final Smashes; one that is a super attack (Mario's fireball, Donkey Kong's Bongos, Triforce Slash, the Light Arrow, Super Spicy Curry, etc) and one that is a transformation (Giga Bowser, Yoshi's Dragon Form, Landmaster, Super Gyro Lasers, Super Sonic, etc.). I don't know about you guys, but having BOTH for every character would be EPIC!!!

I think Ganondorf's Beast Form Ganon attack currently fits perfectly into the "super attack." However, the Beast Ganon form could also be a "transformation" Final Smash. That (Beast Ganon) or a sword or super dark magic wielding Ganondorf, classic Pig Ganon, or even Puppet Ganon. There are a lot of different directions such a move could go.
Honey Queen for Smash.:troll:
If that happens, I'll **** my pants and send them to Nintendo...
I just lost it! :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
There was a lot of hype for Twilight Princess. It was very strange how little anticipation there was for Skyward Sword by comparison.
Well for Twilight Princess it was the first "realistic" Zelda game, and the Wii was the hot thing back then. On top of that, it would be the first game (or one of the first games) you could play with virtual controls on a console! (that didn't totally suck) That got me extremely hyped! ...When Skyward Sword revealed, the Wii was already "old news."
That's good, the interwebz is a scary place.

But I'm a good guy actually.

Oy, vey.

Well anyways, Keldeo for Sm4sh campaigns will probably start on other forums soon...(I think I saw one on Facebook already)

BE WARNED.

I like the idea of multiple Final Smashes per character. It would give more diversity. I actually wouldn't mind adding a "Super Meter" for added depth, but I am not sure how Smash purists would react to that.

As for Ganondorf, I think his Final Smash should be a transformation to Beast Ganon, but I would prefer him to be controllable, like Giga Bowser. I know Brawl's Ganondorf is based on his Twilight Princess version, but I would have prefered Beast Ganon from Ocarina of Time with his awesome blades!

ya, im not too keen on the "super meter" idea myself.

i like winning because of a skillful menuver, not an "imafir'inmahlazor" type move.

but if it was a move that you could only do every-so-often by filling the "meter" and wouldn't grant the player any type of super invincibillity, then i could see it happening.

Oh no, there would be no meter; just two separate smash balls. And there could be two Beast Ganons; one that acts like the one in Brawl, another one where you can control Beast Ganon. Personally, I would like to see a form of Beast Ganon that mixes in all past forms of Ganon, or at least a few moves.
The heleporting from the original Legend of Zelda, A Link to the Past trident, Ocarina of Time twin blades, Puppet Ganon moves from the Wind Waker, some Beast-like "charge"/teleporting attacks from Twilight Princess, etc.
We should rate the victory themes from the three Smashes. I'll make a template and give my answer later.
The scale is 1-10.
Super Mario Bros.: 9 in Smash 64, 10 in Melee, 8 in Brawl
Donkey Kong: 7 in Smash 64, 10 in Melee, 8 in Brawl
Legend of Zelda: 9 in Smash 64, 10 in Melee, 7 in Brawl (kinda boring)
Metroid: 8 in Smash 64, 7 in Melee and Brawl; I wish there was an added "part" to the song
Yoshi's Island: 10 in each game
Kirby (excluding Meta Knight's): 10 in Smash 64, 9 in Melee and Brawl; 10 for Meta Knight's theme
StarFox: 7 in Smash 64, 8 in Melee and Brawl
Pokemon: 7 in Smash 64, 8 in Melee and Brawl
F-Zero: 10 in each game
Mother: 9 in Smash 64, 10 in Melee, 7 in Brawl
Ice Climber: 10
Fire Emblem: 8; I want an alternate theme!!!
Game & Watch: 6
I have sincere doubts Goroh will be playable, but he would be mad cool to have.
Agreed. I would donate my blood for 10 years to get Goroh in
(just not too much blood since I am A positive)
THANK YOU!!! FINALLY, someone gets it
I've been saying 3rd party characters who have a history with Nintendo (Snake, Mega Man, Ryu from Ninja Gaiden) or who are icons of gaming (Sonic, Pac-Man) are in many was fit for smash bros. I would argue the characters in the former category are "Nintendo characters" too. Could you imagine Nintendo history without the likes of Mega Man=???
[COLLAPSE="Bunny Link Picture"]
[/COLLAPSE]Let's have Bunny Link. Much better than Wolf Link.
Agreed. Let's just add every form of Link. Fairy Link (Zelda II), Bunny Link (A Link to the Past), all 24 masks from Majora's Mask Link, Four Swords Link, Wolf Link, etc.
just joking kids!
Squirtle needs a *put sunglasses on* taunt. They stay on until you take them off :smirk:
There is not many things I really, really, REALLY hope that Sakurai sees this and does this. This is just... WOAW... AWESOME!!! This would be SUPER AWESOME!!! :)

I think the problem is that Smash itself has unique stuff based upon the Item system, and outside of Lucario, any transformations are either a B move, or don't count. Meters work well for those games because they explicitly don't use ITEMS. If they had items, they wouldn't need it.

Items are a key point of Smash that people forget. Same with Stages.

Likewise, not depending on some meter is indeed more skillful since you have to approach and can't block all day if you want to win.

On another note, most refer to Beast Ganon as the Boar version, simply because he plays like a Beast, not a Monstrous Humanoid. I'd say just use Boar and Moblin(or Pig) Ganon. That, and Moblins aren't beasts anyway. :p

Right.

the only way to get a final smash should only be from breaking a smash ball.
plus its entertaining to see 4 people chasing them as well.
Sarcasm or not, I actually enjoy that. It still forces character interaction in general. Which is good for such a campy game.

well what i really meant to say is that without the items, i think the game would seem "less" casual? :o
Well, that's why we play without 'em competitively. :p

However, the game is still casual and competitive anyway. Items never changed that in the first place.

A tournament with everything allowed is still competitive. It's a mindset and all. As long as the tournaments have consistent rules, they can make a full tourney scene with its own meta.

I don't know. The flippers were neat and all, but they seemed like they were going out of their way to replace a cool item for no good reason.

I'd rather stick with the old unless they can find a GOOD revamp.

I don't know why SSBF bailed. His given reason was that he came to the conclusion that Victini was unlikely, and that this made him drop his Smash 4 hype massively. However, he does not realize that many, many people were gravitating toward the idea of Victini as an alternative to Zoroark (especially due to his efforts). He also does not realize that he basically has another year to build up Victini's fanbase since neither Genesect or Meloetta were going to be in 2012's Pokemon movie. Its closing in on a week since he last signed in.

if they still have assist trophies in the next smash bros, then i think they should add the "Ramblin Evil Mushroom" from Earthbound.

this little guy would find the closest player and promptly attach itself to that player's head making them "feel strange" (which happens in Earthbound) which would essentially mess up their directional movements (example: up=left, left=right, right=down, down=up) of which would be random each time it appears.
nothing in the smash bros series does this type of effect, so it would be fresh new content. :A1:

i also think it would make a nice sticker and regular trophy as well. its just too cute. :awesome:

Nah, gimme ATs as Duster, Poo or Claus instead please.

Anthony Higgs would be an awesome AT to. He'd come up with his perfect one liner: Remember me? And then do a freezing attack from his gun.

Same here actually. It's a real cool idea in Brawl and I want them to expand on it. To me, the Trainer concept is the most unique concept we have in the game. Ice Climbers and Zelda / Sheik really fall short to it.

If I want a new Trainer, I'd probably want Blue with a Blastoise. Charizard vs Blastoise will NEVER lose its appeal.

Yep, Gary/Blue would make for a nice second Trainer

If we were to ever get a female PT, as much as I'd like Misty, I think May would be the best choice because she would use 3rd gen Pokemon (Mudkip, Grovyle, Blaziken, although I would prefer Swampert)

Still don't think my previous idea of having Pichu / Pikachu / Raichu is a bad idea. But Giovanni would rule, as he'd probably have Rhydon.

Mewtwo needs to stay away from any Trainer though.

That reminds me of a joke I had during the summer.

But in the manga, Red at one point had Charizard, Deoxys, and Mewtwo on his team. :p

So essentially, an item that gets the characters high as hell.

I like it.

I skimmed the latest meter discussion briefly. Meter has a lot of depth behind it if done right. Consider it like MP. It's not stupid or anything like that. Now, if it was like X-Factor....

I like the idea of just giving PT 3 more Pokemon and you would be able to pick either the original 3 or the new set (Mud,Grov,Blaz)

The Mangas cool and all but let's go with the movie MewTwo. He had a spotted Charizard, Venosaur and Blastoise and can switch into himself. He IS the pokemon master.
