New Smash Bros for WiiU

I can't find a link to it unfortunately. However, just looking at how the Wario Land series was shafted in Brawl (only a sticker, and perhaps the Overalls Wario), it might be said that Sskurai only considers WarioWare as being the "Wario" series (sort of like how all of Yoshi's non-plaformer games are ignored in Smash Bros. as well).

As to Ghirahim being a one-shot Zelda character. Sheik was also a one-shot. If Ghirahim ends up being very well-received as a character, I have no doubt that Sakurai will at least give him a look in terms of being placed in (especially considering how Sakurai lamented the lack of "new" characters).

Edit- A steel type or even flying type would be very appealing, it would add a different style of play that has yet to be seen.

I had the move Gravity on my moveset. Mewtwo is a mindgame character so I think it'd be fitting.

Yeah, a dark type would definetly be Zoroark, although I prefer something along the lines like Houndoom or Umbreon, since they have different body structure as opposed to Mewtwo and Zoroark having a similar build.

Like I said, if SS is as well received as OOT, he could get in. Like Sheik and YL.

ALSO, I'm going to throw out the Ghirahim becomes the Gilded Sword... they just look so similar.

Difference is Sheik is and was an extension of Zelda, "his" very character is already tied to an important existing character. Not only that but Sheik was also one of the most requested characters pre-Melee. The situation is a little different than Ghirahim.

Having said that, Sheik was shown in the Melee reveal trailer before Zelda.

I've been thinking about this for awhile, but I have been wanting to do a tournament-type in regards to who is the most wanted newcomer/returnee on GameFAQs (and to a lesser extend, here, but it'll be hosted on GameFAQs). It would contain 30 potential newcomers (and two vets) and let the voters decide on who they want more. Whoever wins gets to go to the next round and whoever wins will be crown the title of "Most Wanted Newcomer". These are some match-ups I can think of (and ones I plan to use if no changes are made):

Toad vs. Bower Jr.
Paper Mario vs. Waluigi
King K. Rool vs. Dixie Kong
Ghirahim vs. Tingle
Ridley vs. Krystal
Victini vs. Zoroark
Mewtwo vs. Deoxys
Samurai Goroh vs. Black Shadow
Roy vs. Krom
Palutena vs. Medusa
Little Mac vs. Isaac
Starfy vs. Shulk
Saki Amamiya vs. Ray (Custom Robo)
Takamaru vs. Lip
Mega Man vs. Geno
Slime vs. Professor Layton

Each match-up would take a day for voting. So the first round would take sixteen days as it is done throughout sixteen matches as a match-up takes a day. How it is done is simple, just vote for a character and (if you wish) explain why you want it. You are also free to debate with each other on who is more deserving and can change votes if you wish.

Here would be some rules:

1. You must respect others. No matter how much you hate a character, you cannot bash others for picking it. You may also not tell others to change their votes just because you want them to.

2. Stay on-topic. Don't go talking about how you did yesterday on your test or other stuffs. We don't want to hear it.

These are sixteen match-ups for the first round (32 characters), the second round has eight matches (16 characters), etc. Any suggestions on how to improve this?

Well, we could use Genesect for the Bug type rep for Gen 5, although the Gen 3 rep is a bit harder.

I'd say Glalie, but that works better as a Pokeball. What were all the ice types from Gen 3? There's possibly Walrein. Hopefully not Wailord, although that'd be a funny Pokeball.

No, they would be set how I would put it.

And each match-up is one day (two weeks is way too long). So a Ridley vs. Krystal match-up would be one day.

Might as well say that he hated Yoshi's Island (or really loved Yoshi's Story) until sometime after Melee.

I'd say the more obvious indication that he's either ignorant or uninterested in Wario Land would Wario's exclusion until after WW.

Regarding Krom, I really don't think it is good vote on a character that we have not seen from more than video and a few screens. The sad thing is a bunch of weirdos are going to pick him over Roy, you know the character that was in Melee and intended to be in Brawl? At least wait until we have an exact English translation of his name, goodness. If that does not constitute jumping the gun I have no idea what would? lol

Well, I personally think that we cannot get a proper assessment about Ghirahim until Skyward Sword is actually released. The fact that people are simply gravitating toward Tingle simply because he is "next in line" shows how eager the Zelda fanbase is to rally behind "someone". Personally, I think Zelda has all the characters it needs in Smash Bros.

Also, to SSBF, the match-ups are done right. However, you need to fix the brackets.

@Shorts: Well there's a tendency for people to forget the "why," or more specifically, to fall back on those old initial assumptions everyone else makes. But I guess you could just repost something I already wrote, you're good at that.

@Omaha: Tingle's significant enough to be considered, yeah. Pretty weak choice though, considering reception ranges from indifference (in Japan) to negative (in the west).

They pretty much are. An optional item is the only way to "switch" between them. An item some people dislike. Like me.

As for the seperate Sheik / Zelda thing, I wanted to hear my brother's reaction to this idea, and he basically changed my mind on it. Twilight Princess didn't have a Sheik, neither does Skyward Sword? Sheik may look a tad different.... but....so?
