What happened to you Mecha? You were so cool with your translating abilities and everything. Then you disappeared and now it's like you've just gone all topsy turvy.
I think real life really got into him.

But anyway, the asage94 event was more unneeded drama for this thread (which brings us closer to this thread being closed). I've noticed in recent days that I'm posting less and less. Maybe (a big maybe) to the point where I start to become kind of inactive. But I'll look over your stage concept and give some thoughts on it.

back into hibernation for me.
I feel like that too. This place used to be an escape from my silly school stuff, it's been gradualing becoming a place I just don't like. Too many useless posts and cry babies, not enough interesting topics.

The day I find a better way to spend my free time, I'm taking it.

Until then, I suppose I'll play your games. I actually want Mach Rider TO USE HIS BIKE. Not just be a Falcon Clone (The third one!?). So I figure, you give him something new to work with, or pick someone else. Basically the same goes for Takamaru, if he's going to play like a mix between the Lyn AT and Marth, just....go away.

Well out of fun and boredom I blended the two Sigma palace themes from Megaman X, just like what I had listed in my Central Highway stage. They can actually blend quite well. It is very basic though.

@JavaCroc: I think Dr. Mario should be an alt of Dr. Mario. and I don't really want Wolf Link & Midna in. Dark Samus is a likely clone as well, so I'm not really digging her. I'm not a fan of Kanan either. But overall, I would be very satisfied with the roster. No cuts made and all vets are in.

Oh and add Palutena to the list.

Dude, what's gone bad in real life? You were fine before, but your recent posts have been very flame-like in nature. Try not to exert any anger in real life into the forum. Hope everything gets better for you.

Like I said, it's a personal, very biased roster, so I'm not making concessions in terms of cutting certain characters. I like Dr. Mario, so I added him. I like Midna, so I added her. And so on.

Palutena I don't mind adding however.

It's an alright list.

Great choices for Modern franchises, but a bit sad on the Retro franchises. Nintendo has a RICH history of videogames I feel they should be equally represented as the modern ones (or more).

Not meaning you should change it, just pointing out what I'd tweak. :p

Well for my first post of the day, I won't get into the obvious negative energy circling around the thread for the past few pages.

Nor do I think that the thread is going to hit a standstill like the 3DS thread. In fact I'm starting to see a pattern in the thread.

Being the "look on the bright side" guy on thread I'd like to bring up something I think that was brought up last night. That being that the poll may also take in ideas about things besides characters:

So what stages would people like to see?

Personally I'd like to see stages based on:

  • Dr. Wily's Castle
  • Tourian
  • Outer Haven
  • Casino Night Zone
  • Mushroom Kingdom 3
  • Underworld
  • The Distortion World
  • Dragon's Altar :p

Hey, guys. I wanted to apologize about b4. I've been a little messed up because of my projects (Brawlroo, VictoriousVictini on Facebook/Smogon, and Sky's the Rim), so I've been an @$$ to alot of ppl. I am seriously sorry.

As for stage ideas, I got a few.
Relic Castle (Pokemon B&W)

Cerulean Cave (Mewtwo's Lair, Pokemon Red/Blue)

Bowser's Original Chamber (Super Mario Bros.)

It's cool asage. We all get a little worked up from time to time, bro. :)

On the other hand, I'm almost always around when stuff like this is around. Hint much?

@Subpar- Dude, anything but Carnival Night. It's a cool stage but it brings up bad memories of Act 2... dem barrels of doom...

Sorry, late reply.
So the Rescue Squad would be sort of like the Pikmin in terms of switching right? Do they use team work and have different attacks based on who's in front, or similar to PT/Zelda?

Some stages I would love to see in SSB4 as Vs. mode stages include:
  1. Kitchen Island (from SML3: Wario Land and Wario Land 2)
  2. The Flying Kroc
  3. Mushroom Kingdom 2 (Melee; very nostalgic stage for me)
  4. Fountain of Dreams (Melee; it was just so dreamy, pun intended)
  5. Underworld (it's basically hell; what's not cool about this for a Smash Bros. stage?)
  6. Skytown
  7. Cyber Holosseum
  8. Gaur Plains

And then there also stages I'd be excited to see in Adventure mode:
  1. Subcon
  2. Yoshi's Island (crayon and paint 2D art style, Donut Lifts, Fuzzies - what's not to like?!?)
  3. Ship Showdown (original concept; imagine airships from Super Mario versus King K. Rool's waterborne ships with Captain Syrup manning a rogue S.S. Teacup in the midst of the battle)
  4. Water Temple (many people hated OoT's dungeon; I didn't)
  5. Skytown again
  6. Phendrana Drifts (best location in Metroid Prime series)
  7. New Pork City (NOT LIKE BRAWL'S FAILURE OF A STAGE)
  8. Hoenn (probably my favorite Pokemon region)
  9. Robot City (as seen in Joy Mech Fight)

So, so true. In fact I'm surprised that it wasn't a stage in Brawl. Well hopefully it will be in SSB4, along with some music from Of Myths and Monsters.

Also I'm changing from the Distortion World to N's Castle.

Just because the Distortion World would be a perfect way to get a Gravity Man (MM5) style level into Adventure Mode.

Also how about another Smash Franchise stage based on Subspace?

The Subspace Arena would be a great stage,as would the waiting room stage with the spawning sandbag. Also, Underworld FTW! I would play that stage.

And I bet that some noob will (or has) come on here to say "Meta Knight got banned, therefore he won't be in future smash games," lol!

Also, the Airship from Super Mario Bros. 3, Rosalina's ship in Super Mario Galaxy, and the Mario Ship Hub in Galaxy 2 (or really anything from either Mario Galaxy games) need to be stages, along with something from Zelda: A Link to the Past and Skyward Sword and Bowser's Castle.

Bowser's Castle would also make a great Story mode introduction. That would be an epic nostalgic way to start the story mode, Mario (and Luigi?) fighting Bowser to free Princess Peach. They could have Mario beat Bowser, Mario save the princess, and then have things go terribly wrong (like in Super Mario RPG), and have some evil enemy (or enemies) appear, and perhaps, in a twist of fate, kidnap Mario!

Writing a decent SSE storyline is hard, but if you gave me a month, and a source to an infiniate wealth of Nintendo knowledge, I KNOW I could pull something off better than Sakurai's crew did. (Storyline wise) The key part is not making it sound too serious, or to fanfictiony.

So far, I've done both on my attempts. I'm finding the right middle ground, I think. So this could end up being decent.

Perhaps you could use the various series-specific Nintendo wikies?

Would you try to INTERTWINE the typical plots from each series? Bowser and Ganondorf kidnap the princesses, Ridley unleashes a bunch of Metroids, Andross is a jerk, K. Rool... steals bananas.

K. Rool is going to be a joke.

Doesn't Dedede usually steal all the food from Dreamland? And bananas are food...

He and K. Rool are definitely chums.

WELL, this latest approach was sort of this "We've all been in living on the same planet for a while". I mean, they all know of each other. Ganon is this sort of political power who runs all sorts of dark schemes, and is ultimately trying to take over the nintendo galaxy (Space is involved with this story). He has his two right hand men, (Bowser and Ridley) who patrol specific areas. Basically, the Hryule, Mushroom, and any other Nintendo political powers are struggling to keep Ganon in check, and they theorize that he has connections throughout the galaxy, so they plan on sending a few scouts into the upcoming tournament Ganon hosts yearly. And things go bad from there, yadayada.

That's just a little peice of the story. So, IDK how silly K. Rool will be, but HE IS A PLANNED VILLAIN, along with Wolf, Deoxys, Medusa, Wario, Bowser Jr. and MAYBE Black Knight.

I can see K.Rool and De3 being buddies throughout Adv Mode.

Nice concept so far Shortie. Should Ganon(dorf) be higher than Bowser though? Hes not as goofy or a joke as De3 and K.Rool but I dunno if Ganon would rule over him. *I just realized, is that where things go wrong? Coup de tat type of plot
I see Deoxys but no Mewtwo?

After the world was saved, all of the heroes and newfound friends decided to become a community. They lived in the new built town known as Smashville. They had bulit a small arena, in which was actually a teleporter that took them to the real stages to where they fight, such as Green Greens, or Final Destination. The community was peaceful and brawlfully fun! But in the forgotten wasteland of subspace, rose a forgotten face. One that the folks of Smashville just might remember. He looked to the sky of subspace and said, "I'm back... Lucario."
~Prolouge idea: Mewtwo's Return

Or...

It was a quiet day in the Plains. Mario, Pit, and Link were walking through the Plains, enjoying the good weather and calming aroma, when a flash in the sky caught Mario's eye. He looked up, to see a large Stadium drop onto the flattest part of the plains. It was so strong and well built, that it didn't break. Mario looked at it, when a hologram TV screen shot up above from it. There was a tiny creature sitting on a bean-bag chair, and he was happier than ever. He announced his new R.P.G. Stadium. Mario, Pit, and Link looked at each other, and with excitment of a new challenge, left to grab everyone else. The little creature, turned off the hologram Tv, and chuckled a little bit, then said, "I can't wait for this fight... because they're destined to lose!"

Yeah, you see the good alliance is expecting Ridley, Bowser AND Ganondorf to be at the tournament, They want to get some dirt on Ganon, Ridley, and Bowser so they can finally link the three warlords. What they don't realize is partway through the tournament, Ganon is sending the two out of the stadium to their designated posts. Ganon will then EXPLODE the staduim, trying to kill off the band of good guys. From there, Bowser, and his underlings will be scouring the globe, killing off any sort of threat to Ganon's power. Same goes for Ridley, he'll be hunting down all of Starfox, and Kirby and whatnot. IN space of course.

Basically, it's going to be the final stand of good versus evil.

@Bowser/Ganon/Ridley relations. Ganon is the brain, and the other two are the muscle, they aren't "desciples" or anything, they're working together for the greater evil.
Doexys is going to play a key role, he isn't BAD, just in it for his own reasons. He's getting "payed". You'll see. As for Mewtwo, he abstains from any sort of petty nonsense, so he doesn't show up until Cerulean, and all of HIS region is under attack. Basically, when the **** hits the fan, someone is going to have to answer to Mewtwo!

AND NO THIRD PARTY NONSENSE.

Something just dawned on me. Keep in mind that this - like everyone else's theories - is just a shot-in-the-dark theory. Sakurai did mention how he intends to have the 3DS version and Wii U version to have some compatibility. He also mentions that he envisions the player developing their character in the 3DS version and then using said character by transferring them to the Wii U.

Here's a "what if" scenario: Imagine if they implemented some level-up system where a player can raise their character(s) on the 3DS, and then use them in the Wii U. I don't know how this system would work, if they did decide to go with such a thing, but still something to imagine. Now, what if a character can learn moves upon leveling up. Consider the following example:

Mario's standard B move is Fireball. Let's say he levels up to, let's say 14, he'll learn Mega Vitamins to be used as his Standard B and can swap Fireball for Mega Vitamins and vice versa. The same can be said for other B moves. Mario's Down B will be F.L.U.D.D., while he can learn the classic Mario Tornado at a later level, choosing to switch out F.L.U.D.D. for said move, possibly giving characters a sense of customization.

Maybe it may go further than that. Perhaps, as a character levels up, they may gain customization points that can be spent to enhance certain stats, like weight, power, speed, etc.. Let's say a character has 30 points to spend, they can use 5 for speed 5 for weight, and the rest in whatever else, or they can take off some points from a stat and redistribute the points elsewhere.

Of course, this is merely an out-of-nowhere thought that hit me after thinking back to what Sakurai said he envisioned regarding the 3DS/Wii U compatibility and relationship between games. What do you guys think? Any thoughts?

Oh, you mean like, leveling up moves and such through some experience mode, I guess you can say like upgrading moves right? Yes, it sounds neat, though it sounds a bit like role-playing, but if Sakurai thinks of such a thing; sure why not.

this reminds me of Abyss Mode in Blazblue:

Having played Abyss mode on Continuum Shift II portable:

You choose a character to begin your decent with, this character is the 'standard' version of the character you would normally find in arcade mode.

As you progress through the Abyss enemies that you defeat will drop powerups, permanent stat upgrades such as [+1 Damage] or [+3 Speed]. These effects stack every time you get them and increase/decrease values such as damage taken, damage done, startup frames of your moves, your run speed, walk speed, airdash speed, health and heat gain.

There are also more powerful Abilities that you can have two of at any time, things like [Extra Burst], [Power Burst] (all bursts are gold), [Lifesteal] (self explanatory), and, of course, [Unlimited], in which case your character becomes the unlimited version of the normal character, in addition to their stat buffs. There are many abilities you can choose from, but some are more difficult to find.

So you can get unlimited Tager with triple airdashes to zoom around the screen like Hazama doing 15k+ damage with 720, when he starts out with 100 meter.

And you will still get game over (there is no instance saving in your decent, you die, you lose!) by unlimited Arakune, because Trashbag super one shots you.
I'm pretty sure this is prolly the kind of leveling up he's talking about, prolly to replace the sticker system in SSE

would be nice to confront said levelled up characters in a adequate separate online mode, and offline too of course.

Well, not really leveling the move, more than leveling the character to learn the move. Though customizing a move's property sounds like a neat idea, although it may make customization that much more complicated, or fun depending on dedication.

Ehh, not exactly. I was thinking somewhere along the lines of Dissidia's level up system... though loosely.

You know what, this actually just reminded me of Pokemon moves, like TM's for example, the character raises in level and in return learns new moves, but has to replace one of it's moves if it wants to actually learn it, the properties of a move sound like a great idea, it adds more to that move itself, yeah, definetly would be better than stickers IMO.

Yeah, the TM thing's a great example. Again, going back to Mario's Fireball B move, if he learns Mega Vitamins, it will only be available as a standard B, meaning he cannot set it to Up B, Down B, etc.. Same goes for Fireball for that matter. While F.L.U.D.D. and Mario Tornado can only be set as Down B. But yeah, you get the idea.

It's too bad wearable accessories would be pretty complicated to implement. Y'know, a top hat instead of a sticker could add to your... I dunno, launch resistance. Not very aerodynamic, top hats.

are you really hoping that Nintendo will not be lazy and actually display the accessories on the characters?

extra polygons for devs???

that's like believing that Ridley or Mach Rider will make it to SSB4

^^Yeah, I like the concept alright, maybe it should happen since both versions will obviously be tranferable according to Iwata, I also did like that idea of earning customization points, it reminded me of WWE's custom character mode, where you play through story mode and such, earn customization points and you can distribute them towards your customized characters stats, I guess fir Dmash it could apply to weight, jump, speed, recovery, power etc...

Just something that occured to me, and I guess you could probably purchase them as DLC as well.

This also got me thinking about the Mii's, I'm betting they too will be customizable with moves and such, if not it would be based on weight class, like Mario Kart Wii for example has such a feature, the stats of a Mii's kart depends on the weight of a said Mii.

I don't think they'd need to implement accessories. Even if they did, I'll hazard a bet that they'd be banned from tourneys for competitive reasons. What they could do that wouldn't affect gameplay, is give characters different costumes. Mario has his overalls and the different color schemes that go with it, and can also wear his Dr. Mario costume and whatever color schemes they bring with that. I mean, they did that with Wario for Brawl, so it can work. They could also try allowing the player to customize character costume colors. That would be great, especially if Sakurai is really aiming for that whole "personal" thing he envisions for Smash 4.
