Didn't the Dreamcast flop due to the Saturn day shenanigans pissed off alot of 3rd party developers due to their software wasn't completed in time for launch, thus they refused to support the Dreamcast either
No, the dreamcast died because of piracy. It had zero protection from the start.

It specifically says backwards-compatible with Wii in the article.

Would it play 'cube games tho? I already greatly enjoy having both Melee and Brawl on one console, adding SSB4 to the family without removing the former would be pretty sweet.

All nintendo systems are tough. My Wii has been dropped several times. bl about yours splice. >:

I wouldn't count on the new console being GC-compatible, but it makes sense that it would. HD Melee? O:

My original Wii eventually broke after leaving Brawl on overnight waaaaaaaaaay too many times. And I had a GC with some disc-reading issues. But it's okay, I have a RED WIIIIIIIII now.

Honestly, other than that, though, these systems are built like bricks... (then again, bricks don't contain ubercomplex circuitry)

I'm pretty sure my Wii died from leaving DKCR on for too long lol

Except I was actually playing it.

Playing games off a USB or HDD ftw. If you're Wii actually died from playing DKCR for too long, then its probably only the disc drive thats broken. Black Ops Wii has been making HEAPS of people's disc drive break, call up Nintendo and just say it broke from playing Black Ops, they might replace it for free.

the dreamcast didnt die from any one reason, it died from several reasons all combined together.
pretty much all of those reasons have been covered in this thread already but I think one of the worst ones was the rep they had after they abanded the saturn so quickly.
so for developers, making games for the dreamcast was a very very risky decision.
most people dont like risk.
I do, I think its a pretty fun board game

I don't care what console it's going to be on, I just want to play Super Smash Bros. Gang Knife Fight.

But anyway, I spend all my time working so I can buy these consoles, and yet because I'm working I hardly have the time to play them. Maybe this generation I'll finally step back and realise this and use my money for faster things :D

Customizable Controls =/= Good Game.
Don't really understand all those symbols, but my guess is that you're saying customizable controls doesn't make a good game, which is not what I was trying to say.

I was saying that when most people think about FPS on Wii they automatically think they're crap because it can't work well with the wii remote, but it can.

Brawl is a perfect example.
:troll:
My statement implies Customizable Controls are do not necessarily relate to how good the game is.

Brawl being a perfect example of this would then imply
That Brawl is a perfect example of how customizable controls dont relate to how good the game is? Which means nothing. Nice statement.

tl;dr - you are bad.

@Ric: =/= just means "Does not equal" :)
I think the main problem people would assume with a FPS on Wii would be if they incorporated motion sensor. That would worry people.

If you just say "the controls are really customizable" when no-one directly complained about the controls, and that was the only reason why we should try out the game... it's a little silly bro. For me there was no context behind that statement and it basically appeared to me that you are telling me to play this game because it has customizable controls.

well then! guess I know what I'm saving up for lol

----- credit to Stryks -----

From GameInformer:

new system is capable of running games at HD resolutions
- system may either fall short of or surpass 360/PS3 in graphics, but it will be competitive
- Nintendo is already showing publishers the system
- late 2012 launch
- no word on backwards compatibility
- no word on 'Wii' being in the name
- when Nintendo was approached with this information, they were told that Nintendo won't comment on their E3 plans, but "stay tuned"
"Nintendo is doing this one right. [It's] not a gimmick like the Wii." - anonymous source

source: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/04/14/new-nintendo-console-at-e3.aspx

From IGN:

- console is significantly more powerful than the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360
- Nintendo is looking to recapture the hardcore market
- 1080p resolutions
- Nintendo will release a pre-announcement this month
- full reveal expected at E3
- backwards compatible with current Wii software

source: http://wii.ign.com/articles/116/1161875p1.html

Neogaf:

- launch titles from third-party developers are in the works right now
- all-new controller
- controller features a built-in HD screen
- Blu-ray as the main optical drive

"Nintendo's plans sound unreal. Publishers are already planning launch titles and it's all very exciting. The hardware is even more powerful than current HD consoles and backwards compatible with Wii. The controller will be all-new and has a HD screen on it." - inside source

source: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=427412&page=30

UPDATE:

Now IGN is saying that, according to CVG and some of their sources, not only will the controller have an HD screen, but also the screen has touch capability.

UPDATE 2:

Thanks to everyone that sent this in, From IGN:

New details have surfaced from yesterday's reports that Nintendo is set to unveil its newest console, codenamed "Project Cafe."

According to our sources, the new Nintendo controller will feature dual analog sticks in addition to standard d-pad and trigger buttons. It'll mirror a Gamecube controller in general function but not in specific form.

French website 01.net has published additional details (via Develop), that say the touch capable screen on the controller is 6 inches in size, but we were unable to confirm the accuracy of the report. Additional details about the console's hardware specs could also not be confirmed.

Players will actually be able to stream game content to the controller screen from the console. It's unclear at this time what type of content it will be, whether it's full games you can take with you on the go, mini-games or applications.

At E3 in June, our sources also said Nintendo will show first and third party titles at the event, but it's unsure if they'll be playable or only in video form.

Update 3

From 01net

- codename is “project cafe”
- similar to the architecture of the 360, but a little more powerful
- easy to develop for
- controller has a standard single, 6-inch touch screen (not HD)
- similar to the Dreamcast VMU with ample storage capacity
- still a huge “surprise” about the platform to be revealed at E3
- custom IBM PowerPC CPU with three cores, a GPU from the ATI R700 family with a shader unit at version 4.1, and at least 512Mb of RAM
- GameCube backwards compatibility as well
- controller has a front-facing camera, D-Pad, two bumpers, two triggers and "possibly more"
- can allegedly be used as a Wii sensor bar
- due out June 2012 in Japan, holiday season elsewhere

source: http://www.01net.com/editorial/5316...2-de-nintendo-aura-une-tablette-pour-manette/

From next-gen.biz

- Ubisoft, Activision and Electronic Arts have had development kits for months
- system retains motion control, with capabilities that are “better than Move”
- Nintendo will unveil the system at E3 in June, if not sooner

source: http://www.next-gen.biz/news/sources-confirm-more-details-on-wii-successor

UPDATE 4:

From IGN:

- New Nintendo controller allows players to stream entire games to the device from the console - like a miniature television.

This came from the twitter from a guy at IGN

also:

The screen size on the controller is also confirmed to be six inches in size.

UPDATE 5

Again, from IGN:

- It'll mirror a Gamecube controller in general function but not in specific form.

Update 6:

Was thinking about the pikmin part yesterday:

- Pikmin 3 moved to Wii successor
- will be shown in video form at E3
- boost in graphical power seen as a benefit for the game
- Nintendo trying to get Rockstar support for Project Cafe

source: http://gameolosophy.com/consoles/wi...-project-cafe-nintendo-talking-with-rockstar/

also here's a mockup image of how IGN thinks the controller will look like:

UPDATE 7:

Nintendo is gonna hold an investors meeting on the 25th, and there will be transcripts from the event, if there's ANY chance of us hearing about the next console this month, this event could be it

UPDATE 8:

Like the previous rumors, take these with a grain of salt, tho it's unclear if they're opinions or if Nintendo Life, a twitter account, knows something we don't:

- All we can say so far is: don’t believe everything you read online. Other than from us, of course. May hear solid details next week…

- (details are) significant enough that we can’t reveal what they are.

- (console will be) a combination of everything you would expect from Nintendo and yet surprising at the same time.

and:

- Nintendo has sold more handheld consoles than anyone. Why have a controller with a screen in? Why not use DS?
- Nintendo is a Japanese company. Why would a secret project have a French name?

These last two sound more like opinions, but you never know

Motion sensor? As in shaking the Wii remote or nunchuck? Or just using the pointer in general?

*sigh*

Splice's statement implied that a game with customizable controls isn't necessarily a good game.
My comment was that brawl is an example of that, as it's a bad game with customizable controls.
/obviously I don't actually think Brawl is bad but whatever.

if you cannot understand whats happening here then all hope is lost for you.

I should be the one sighing.

Ghost your post literally meant nothing though.
Like it just meant nothing. At all. Every game is an example of how customizable controls dont necessarily effect gameplay. Because there isn't even anything to be 'exampled'.
It... how can i...
look it just was a bad attempt at wit on your part. It didnt make any sense. :S

Better luck next time ^^;

@Ric: I just mean the motion sensor in any form :F
Whether its the pointer or the shaker or whatever.
That would worry people in an FPS, as it would likely be finicky, so when you say people were worried about controls im guessing thats what they were worried about.

that was probably the most random part of my post you could choose to reply to Ric lol

_________
PIKMIN III?? YAY!!
THIS NEW CONSOLE SOUNDS BEAST
+1 Ready to be horribly let down expectations

Wasn't random, it was the only part of your post that I didn't understand.

But yeah this what I've been trying to say, the pointer works well with FPSs, you can have custom button layouts, unfortunately there's not enough buttons on the Wii remote and nunchuck, so you do have to set an action to either shake wii remote or shake nunchuck.

Basically I'm saying there's nothing to worry about when it comes to the controls with Wii FPS, in my opinion their better than PS3/Xbox360 controls in every way.

Your opinion is wrong. For e.g if you wer at a tournament and had to use a wii-mote nun-chuck for more than 6 hours as opposed to simply holding a controller in your lap, would you not instantly put a bullet through your head? Oh wait gotta change the batteries again..

I understood that pretty-much-initially Ric.
I'm just pointing out the way you communicated that was problematic.

If I want to play an FPS
It will be on the PC
Being better than Xbox and Ps3 controls means nothing.
PC is much more natural for FPS than consoles anyway
So good controls on the Wii doesn't tell me why I would want to play CoD as an FPS
Since there are defs PC games with better controls

So what I ask you

Would this game happen to have ANY OTHER MERITS???

There's just something about playing with the Wii remote and nunchuck that make it funner than the other versions. The Wii's controls make it feel quite natural imo.

Any other merits? Well BO Wii doesn't have Chopper Gunner and Gunship, which is a good thing cus they're OP. :p It also has a 10 player limit, as apposed to the PC's 18, 10 is a pretty good number, becomes too hectic with 18. Not sure what the Xbox360 / PS3 have, think its 12.

Oh man I couldn't bear the thought o playing wii black ops, need my ps3 controller for blops pls.
There it is, that common misconception that Wii FPS are bad. I believe the controls are superior in every way to PS3/Xbox360.
