I can't remember who asked for help but the biggest mistake maintaining a lead is changing your playstyle (which obviously works because you got the lead in the first place) to something else. Even to something you aren't as familiar with. Always remember that starting to play defensive doesn't mean running away and avoiding everything!!! You might even keep approaching. You just don't have to.

Also, playing defensive and not approaching with Ness isn't even very good in many MUs. It only truly destroys Diddy Kong.

And you should remember that when you play defensive (or just have the lead) you shouldn't let your advantageous position and stage control just go away. Keep opponents offstage and above you as you would when losing.

The problem also might be with your mindset if you (subconsciously) think that you already won and can't lose anymore. But only you can help yourself with that.

Btw, I just found out that I'm playing week by week with the best MK in Europe!

I don't feel like making a write-up about MK vs Ness because it would take hours but ask me anything!

Snake :snake:

Snake you can outcamp if you are familiar with items and able to keep your eye on Snake for the grenade drop. Basically you want to throw a grenade close to him and start to pressure his shield with PKT1 or PK Fire if you are close. PKT1 hits his head easily if his shield is low and grounded PK Fire burns his feet. Or head if aerial. PKT tail also blows his grenades and the head stops them. At some point you will get him off the ground and you know what to do.

If this strategy doesn't work for you (it's not as simple as it sounds and you need to be very precise) don't go for it anymore. Just figure out something else.

ICs :popo:

IC is weird since Ness is the hardest character to chaingrab for some reason xD. But if the IC player does know how to CG you, watch out for grab when Nana is recovering too. Popo can grab release chaingrab you until Nana comes back to him and continue with the usual CG.

Aerial PK Fire hits Nana very often because her shield doesn't come out as fast as Popos. When you get them offstage you should remember these gay tactics:
*If you tailwhip Popo when Nana grabs the ledge via Up-B he is dead
*When Nana grabs the ledge via Up-B you can PK Fire her and the pillar hits Popo later. Possible KO.
*If they Side-B together PKT1 hits only one Climber. If it hits Nana, Popo is dead.

If they are Blizzard walling don't Magnet it if you aren't on platform. You can't cancel it and the other one grabs you. (Don't know why...)

Olimar :olimar:

Weird matchup but this isn't very hard for Ness. The only situation when you want to make him approach is a stock lead with you way over kill percents. Otherwise, just accept that his camping is gay.

Keep in mind that he has no priority. You always win if you hit his Pikmin hitboxes with any move.

When his Pikmin are going back to him, you can PK Fire them for nice free protective pillar walls. (Only red goes through them)

Don't fall for his pivot grabs.

This is just ****ing perfect example imo:

By the way, Yink, I just noticed that you got something on your sig space near "like reply" sets. That looks cool.

Jeez, I've said this before but my friend has an oli that I've just never been able to beat, not once. I think most olis just never face nesses or maybe I'm simply trying to cope with my badness

The video I showed was from a tournament last year, I downloaded it off the Tournament Host's youtube channel and reuploaded it to mine since I felt like it. This is the original youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6RW7mje1os . I haven't been to their tournaments (Only went to One because without my Cousin I wouldn't have been able to) since I live in San Jose and I live about an hour away from the tournament.

If you read the "About" Section on the Youtube video it will link you to all the events they had or are planning to have. I looked on their website and they do tournaments for many games but their last brawl related tournament was last month on July 15th. You should've lived in So Cal this summer D: they have so much smash stuff going on, Nor cal barely has any tournaments!

I'm pretty sure that landing uair combos to footstool -> magnet -> jab lock on 10-20% by the way.

Must confirm somehow... At least it would be better than utilt/nair.

The most damaging option out of jab lock is dtilt spam to grab I think so this could do about 40-70% depending on the position onstage and your opponents DI.

The magnet lag is really big, so im pretty sure this is escapable.

I tried doing it with Lucas' magnet, which is less laggy, and it didn't work. The opponent rolled away before i could dtilt

Yeah it might be. This needs some more testing tho because the opponent must go high enough for you to have time to jab and low enough that you could footstool him. Probably too situational.

I take back my comment about hating Melee Ness after using him again today. Like yeah he sucks but idk it's Ness so he's still fun. Just DJC aerials all day.

So, I'm going to a tourney on Saturday again! Smash Til You Crash 4, really looking forward to it!! :D

Also, I had to record this friendly I had... Was also the closest Ness vs. Lucas match I had lol
I have to work on my spacing and reaction times too lol
(Turn down your volume a bit, this BRSTM is a bit loud :p)
Here it is!

Ok, I went to the tourney today, and, well...

It was all the way downtown, and my sister had to park far away (tourney was in a university lol) for free, so we had to walk for a while. I got scared though because it felt overwhelming being in downtown. =P

I saw Kels doing 2vs2 friendlies, and she and her brother were doing awesome! :D

Then Jay notices me after their match, and they were so excited to see me!
So me, Kels, Jay and a Snake main do a FFA, and at the end, it was just me and the Snake main left... he had 2 lives, I had 1 life and was at like 100%. X__X
I was making a pretty good comeback though and we were both at 150%. But then I was in a horrible position at the ledge (was on Pokemon Stadium 1) and got hit by his F-Smash while trying to avoid his U-Smashes. Oh well, was pretty damn close though!

then I just do more FFAs and 1vs1 friendlies... =P
But then I see a money match, and my god it was too hilarious! The taunting and the reactions and the hype... oh god! XD

So I see Guard... And I just really smiled when I saw him, and he did the same! :D
Then I 1vs1 him in a friendly... God that Fox U-Smash lol. Was close though!

I also had a few friendlies with Morks (the Brawl TO), and we had 2 Ness dittos and he went Yoshi against me twice. Well, I won the Ness dittos (god those were so close xD) and he won whenever he went Yoshi (really close though). Was amazing, and my hands were numb and my knees were shaking! XD

And Kels, Jay, Matt and I go for lunch again at McDonalds... well, we got it to go this time, lol
Though I think there was something funky about that McDonalds (I got a McChicken and 6 Chicken Nuggets), I had to go pee like 5 times and I did kind of feel a bit weird (not necessarily queasy but I guess... unhealthy?) :/

So after that, Pools start... or rather, everyone else's. I was in like the last pool and it took forever for my pool to start. God waiting made me feel so stressed out... and then the funky McDonalds didn't help either. >__>

...Then I learned that the Pools were also "Top 2 make it out"... X__X
I was the 1st one to do a set, and I unfortunately lost. How do you face Ike, that Jab is annoying as hell and he can play some good mindgames lol

Then my 2nd set was against a Zelda/Marth main, and it was pretty easy beating him. =P

And then I go up against Kels again... God, how do you face Kirby and Sonic?! Kirby I can't seem to find a blindspot, and Sonic's hit and run playstyle is hard for me to deal with. =P
------------------
In the end though, I didn't make it out of Pools... oh well. I played a few more friendlies (against a Falco and a Jiggs lol), and won them! Then I had to leave.

Well, despite not placing in this tourney, I had an awesome time and was glad to have some amazing friendlies and see some great people!
