WAAAHHHHHH I got terrible bracket placement on Saturday. I was up against Kain, who's the best IL smasher, and then a guaranteed Marth main right after that. I was a bit ticked off. AND I HAD TO PLAY THE ONE THAT I CONSIDER TO BE BETTER OF THE TWO! :'(He even got 5'th after being knocked into losers first round with me)':

So I only got 13/26 at the last tournament on saturday. I played SOMEWHAT well against Kain (except for the fact that I sort of SD'd due to mis-directed PKT2 on the first game....). I got JV 2-stocked on the second game... It's the GR > Dsmash/Fsmash that Wolf has on Ness.... So annoying. >.<

I beat Sago in pools by EXTREME luck. He went Samus the first two games (he won the first, I won the second with my CP), then he went to MK and took me to RC. I was taken to my last stock when he had 3 stocks and high percent. I got rid of his first stock with a good grab and backthrow (I think...), He accidentally SD'd by using Nado instead of UpB or SideB to get up the the swinging pendulum (I had a GREAT chance of killing him with UAir/BAir/NAir if he DID survive though), and then the last stock I got SOOO lucky, b/c he was on the left side of the moving stage, and I FAir'd him, which led to a grab and an Fthrow; he was close to the edge of the blast zone so I kept the attack as much as possible, got a dash attack off, shielded in expectation of a DSmash or something to get me off of him, then grabbed when he didn't to FThrow him for his death last stock. It'll be on YouTube sometime, but it was WAYYYY too lucky.

I saved a replay but I'm not sure how I did it (or maybe someone already found out how to do it and I'm just late to the party). I think if you hit both c-stick and joystick away the moment of the grab release it happens but I'm not sure.

You mean push the c stick/joystick away the moment you're released, or the moment you first get grabbed? Either way, I'd like to see the replay when possible. I had no idea Ness could escape the gr either lol, that's amazing if it does work.

I want to see those matches once they're uploaded so I can add them to the video thread. I'm sure you'll do better next time, all in all sounds like you played well regardless of the placing. MK on Rainbow Cruise sounds like a nightmare though tbh.

I'm not sure if that's how I did it (pushing joystick the moment I get released) ... I'd need frame data for that. But repeatedly flicking both the c-stick and joystick away got me out of the infinite about 3 times during the same stock. It gets a lot harder at high percents though. I'm thinking it could be a frame dependent thing, like snake's utilt hitting ness for instance. On frames 1-5 after a pummel if Ness releases snake doesn't get an utilt, anywhere other than that utilt hits.

I'll look into it for you Shake Shake. I can air release out of a lot of my infinites (but that's proper mashing so..). But being released far enough away sounds good to me. Isn't that just EIDI (extra-inch di) ?

I didn't think EIDI was real.... I've tried several times and haven't gotten anything out of it.

Maybe I'm not mashing in the right direction. Anyway, It probably needs another looking-into. When people "discovered" it before, the evidence was that it wasn't possible to FORCE into happening. I'll try and test it with my friend who mains Marth whenever we get together to play Smash again; he GR CG's me ALL THE TIME! it annoys me so much, but it's part of the MU.
